  • chris im sorry i love ur reviews but i almost considered unsubscribing for this. As a Jew I can't just forgive when one of he biggest actors of all time openly spreads antisemitic messages through his movie (passion) and his words bc RDJ asked us esp wen mel tried to blame it on conspirators and "edited" tapes/footage wen he directly outed jews!

  • Jesus was asked by the Apostle Peter, how many times is he required to forgive his brother. Jesus answered, "70 times 7." That's 490 times that we're told to forgive our brother. We're told to pray for our enemies, and do good to those who persecute and use us. BUT, it is everyone's right and duty to not endorse or financially support anyone who offends them, if they're a principled individual. If you do support the industry that Mel Gibson is a part of, then don't complain about his behavior.

  • The woman was not his wife. She was his mistress then she became his girlfriend after his real wife left him. And the girlfriend alleges that he knocked her front teeth out. He has never responded to those allegations, therefore there must be some truth to them. He is a violent homophobic anti semitic racist and he deserves his treatment.

  • In closing, Mel Gibson is an overly privileged ass hat. He is a buffoon of galactic proportions. His acting and a certain number of his films are vastly overrated.

    SIGNS!? Really?

  • Take The Passion Of The Christ. Here is a film which is at least loosely based on passion plays, which are theatrical devices that are definitely historically linked with antisemitism. There is just no arguing that fact. It's a fucking fact! Now, should I, as a moviegoer, just ignore the fact that Gibson's father is a holocaust denier? Should I simply forget that Gibson is a traditionalist Catholic? Should I just give Gibson the benefit of the doubt and judge the film on its merits alone?

  • Don't get me wrong. I'm not necessarily someone who will boycott his films, or even has strong feelings about the man either way. I fucking loved Apocolypto. Clearly the man knows how to make a good film. My only point is that I absolutely understand why someone WOULD boycott him. It's not as if it was only one, or even just a few incidents that brought him to this point. We're talking about a clearly traceable and repetitive record of despicable behavior here.

  • Gibson's tremendous capacity for egoism and arrogance, in his real life, are a matter of record. It may not be fair that he is scrutinized so closely by the media and the public, but the fact that his career has afforded him a life of complete and utter cloistered privilege more than makes up for that scrutiny (in my opinion). How much sympathy, much less forgiveness, are we to have for a man who was given everything and still acts like such a complete asshole?

  • I have made the occasional jab at Mel Gibson, but I agree that's not going to make me stop enjoying his films. I just might not wanna meet him in person as bad.

  • Great assessment. One film critic to another, I'm subscribing.

  • Very good video man , Mel is my favorite actor and he is also a great director. Hope his carrer wil get back on track

  • To forgive is divine..

However..what about the Anti-semitic rants? Should we forgive Hitler after x # of years?

PLEASE don't think I'm comparing the two men--Just asking this question: Are some things unforgiveable? Just asking.

  • @teachergirl57 I agree that not all sins/transgressions are created equal; maybe some can't be forgiven. But, despite the antisemitism/racism thing, the parallel really doesn't work. The crimes of Hitler that we consider unforgivable have to do not so much with his words, but with his deeds. Anyway, what people say in their private lives is a different situation. If someone says something hurtful to me but then apologies—& if the apology is genuine—I'll forgive him. (Even if I don't like him!)

  • hjjjj

  • I am not one to judge people. Mel Gibson is a BRILLIANT director and actor, and I would not like to miss out on his contribution, just because the people of HOLLYWOOD want to punish him. Personally, I find ROMAN POLANSKI'S behavior FAR more criminal and disgusting, and yet, Hollywood seems to paint him a victim of a witch hunt. I'm sorry, but the ever ego-centric SAG and their ilk, aren't in ANY position to be ANYONE'S MORAL COMPASS. They need to shut up and let the man work.

  • Oh I love Mel Gibson.

  • their mission was classified, their target was a nazi killer...fuck this advert

  • It's always refreshing to see something positive about Gibson. We might be a long way from seeing that Viking movie and maybe his cameo in Fury Road might be a long shot but yelling at his baby mama (not his wife, who actually defended him over the recorded rants) was just big business for radaronline and moron sites like that.

  • @Jawsphobia I hope Gibson will die of cancer as his mother did.

  • @MrRobertJameson And with his evil cancer wish, we can thank MrRobertJohnson for making us all seem a bit smarter by interjecting the moron perspective.

  • FUCK YEAH, Mel showed his woman who is boss

  • I also think a lot of people don't realise that there is an enormous difference between being "drunk" and being "a drunk".

"A drunk" doesn't react the same way to alcohol as everyone else does - I have seen the loveliest of family fathers (and mothers) turn into absolute terrors because of alcohol.

This doesn't excuse the behaviour, but it does explain it.

It is a very serious condition to be an alcoholic - and it's especially tough on the people around you.

  • What gets me every time about this argument is that people seem to think that in order to like Mel Gibson as an actor you have to also condone what he did - it usually ends up with either "he's a bigot" or "yeah, I hate jews too", and I don't understand that.

What the heck happened to "what he does or says in his personal life doesn't have anything to do with his work"?

I'm jewish and yeah, I was offended - but I never stopped watching his films.

Those two things are a complete oxymoron to me.

  • Kind of ironic that you're talking about younger people not knowing his career, and saying "in the 90's when he started out getting buzz with roles like "Charlie Chaplin" lol. Go back further.

  • @SophieOcean I like how you keep trashing the "whore" and put all responsability on her. Last time I checked mel chose to fuck her.

  • he was one of my fav actors until he started to show his true colors go a head and forgive him he put himself in the postion he was in. that's what happens when ppl see where your head is at

  • gibson told the truth about the kikes.

  • mel doesn't need to apologize. he is right.

  • I hate sheep/pc/puppet actors like Clooney and Pitt who do and say what their publicists and pr firms tell them to. You got to respect actors who say and do what they want like Charlie Sheen, Tom Cruise, Marlon Brando, Mickey Rourke, Robert Downey, but the sheep population keeps on hateing

  • 100% agreed.

  • gibson is a good actor and a good director. apocalypto was one of my best films of recent years. fuck the media

  • VERY GOOD VIDEO WITH A GREATE DECLARATION FROM ROBERT D. JUNIOR, AND A GREAT SPEECH FROM YOU TOO!

THANKS! WHAT YOU SAY IS SO TRUE!

BTW IT WASN'T TO HIS WIFE THAT MEL WAS TALKING TO ON THOSE TAPES!

IT WAS THE RUSSIAN GOLDDIGER, WHO WAS ALSO THE CAUSE OF HIS DIVORCE FROM HIS WIFE, AND WHO HAD SCREWED HIM TOTALY ON ALL LEVELS AND KEPT AT IT UNTIL 2011

MEL GIBSON'S WIFE IS ROBYN GIBSON, AND THE DIVORCE IS NOT YET FINALISED, WHILE THE WHORE MEL WAS SHOUTING AT ON THE PHONE, IS THE GOLDDIGER OKSA

  • Very classy statement by RDJ. Let Mel work, he's a great actor and there's absolutely no reason to make him a pariah.

  • thank you yes we all make mistakes we love you MEL ;D

  • Gibson has always been one of my favorite actors. I remember watching Mad Max with my dad as a kid (which may not have been the best time to watch that movie), as well as all of the Lethal Weapon films. I hadn't seen much of Downey until I saw him in US Marshals (one of my favorite Tommy Lee Jones movies), but after that I became a fan.

I think it's so cool to see one actor standing up for another actor (and mentor). Thanks for sharing this, Chris.

  • "do not deal out death and judgement, even the very wise cannot see all ends" - gandalf the gray

  • Ive always liked Mel Gibson & we all make mistakes but not under a microscope like celebrities.

  • I love that. Excellently done Chris.....None of us is perfect.

  • Hey thanx alot for posting this video. I have alot more respect for the two, but i've always been a Downey Jr. FAN. Since your such a huge fan of Mel, you should review one of his newest films The Beaver. It stars him and his son in Anton Yelchin who played Charlie in the newest Fright Night

  • "If any of you are without sins..."

Man, that struck a chord. I am one of my own least favorite people. I look at myself, and see nothing but a miserable wretch, and yet I judge others. But the more I realize it, the more I realize also that I am no one to judge. We all have our sins and faults, and its really refreshing to see someone point that out, especially someone who has so much more than others.

  • wow, all comments are extremely long on these videos

  • I would like to point out that even reasserting something negative about an individual that is true is still judgmental.

  • hey chris i was wondering if you could find it in your time to maybe review the zodiac

  • You know, maybe I should give The Beaver a chance. The reason I skipped it back when it was new was because the concept was just meh in my opinion.

  • Both of these guys are awesome, and very well said my friend. I guess great minds think a like cause I always thought the same thing about how we all make mistakes and the only reason it looks so bad on them is cause their in the spotlight. I also believe the same as you on how people believe TOO MUCH of what the news media say about celebrities and tabloid supermarket crap magazines... smh

  • Ok. He yelled at his wife. He's human. That is very easy to forgive. However, when a public figure makes racist or anti-Semitic comments, that's sets a very bad example and harms a lot of people. Hate speech is hate speech. I'll go see an actor whose politics oppose mine. They have a right to their opinion. But this is different. Gibson has never explained or contradicted his racist remarks. He's a hater and I can't support that.

  • People need to realize... Celebrities are humans, no different than us. We've done some fucked up things in our lives accidental or intentional.

When wife thing happened I still went and saw Edge of Darkness. It was in my top 10 of last year.

He's a good actor and he's a good director too. Gotta love Braveheart and Lethal Weapon movies.

  • Downey is a man of some humility, Mel did a great job by helping

someone who respects him from heart. Great video overall.

  • Gotta love Mel Gibson though, i think he'll create something epic like BRAVEHEART!!!!!!

  • Robert Downey Jr. is jewish people!. So that surprised me.

  • I don't get why people are so hard on Mel. Talk about holding a grudge. This issue has been dragged out since 2004. Yes, he said racist and anti-Semitic things and he hurt people doing so. But since when are our skins so thin we can't look past words? People doing a lot worse things than he's ever done get cut some slack, yet because he's a celebrity he needs to be brought down all the time. Plus our main source of info about this are the tabloids...since when have they become reliable?

  • Forgives this guy for his bullshit. Right after his bullshit became public his good friend Jody Foster put him in a movie. He has already been forgiven. Why such a public spectacle. It's stupid.

  • Name one entertainer who hasn't messed up majorly. These people rich and famous. He can be an obvious racist, woman beater, and alcoholic, get arrested, then get a slap on the wrist, and still be a movie star tomorrow. So who cares if Robert Downey or anybody else's

  • Who cares.

  • I feel the SAME EXACT WAY!!! People really do take what tabloids say as truth and judge people they have never even met...It doesn't make any sense to me because you would never openly judge a person you know that way,but you would a famous person you haven't even met and obviously don't know...they are humans just like any other person

  • I think Mel Gibsons best movies are: braveheart, lethal weapon and you forgot to mention another good one, Maverick. Very good actor! One of my favorites!

  • To me, it's not so much that I forgive what he did, I just have grown to become indifferent towards it. I don't think that I need to be apologized to, it had nothing to do with me. And as far as the anti-Semitic thing goes, well, this country stresses freedom of speech, and there is really nothing we can do about it. He can believe what he wants to believe, but I just don't want it all over the news and shoved in my face.

  • YAY more stuckmann

  • And honestly, some of Roberts mistakes were worse than Mels.

  • @nathstreeter You can't seperate the 2. Period. So learn to deal with that or like I said you never liked the person at all to begin with. No getting around that.

  • I like the channel, I enjoy the reviews, I agree almost 100% of the time... Save for one bit... Signs??? Really??? It was watchable, but man, I just don't get having such an extreme love for it. I probably shouldn't cast dispersions, seeing as one of my top movies fav of all time is Tremors :P

  • @Colechamdiceman A review for that film is coming in a few days, I'll explain my love for Signs then. Stick around for that! =)

  • @ChrisStuckmann Indeed I shall. I look forward to seeing what captivated you so. Maybe it'll give me a reason to give it a second chance.

  • @ChrisStuckmann This absolutely brought tears to my eyes. It was shockingly moving RDJ was witty, moving and poignant in his message of forgiveness. It is so rare that people really help you when you are down.It is rarer still that the recipient of the help will publicly acknowledge it,I think RDJ is a special human being.

What did you think about his self portrayal in the movie "Less than Zero" this is one of the Best movies about friendship EVER. Also Spike Lee's "Mo Better Blues" was about Mel

  • @ChrisStuckmann I loved Signs. It's one of my favorite films.

  • Amen!

  • I agree. Mel Gibson has done a lot for film. I appreciate his work. I still support him.

  • I have done some fucked up things and made big mistakes in my life. I'm really glad people gave me a second chance and didn't keep bashing me about it cause that what helped me getting out of the mistakes i made. I sometimes think people forget celebrities are human as well. Mel Gibson deserves a second chance.

  • That's true re young viewers, s'why I always make my nephews and nieces [cause I don't have kids] watch movies from the past, those they need to know... especially the funny ones. Always start with the funny ones with kids:D

  • God once described the Jews as a "stiff neck people" so , if God himself can't stand the Jews I say yeah,, give Mel a fucking break.

  • I have been and always will be a Mel Gibson fan. From Braveheart to even Apocoliptica I love his movies. We don't work on the inside of Hollywood. We don't know the politics that go on behind the scenes. Sure he said a lot of dumb and hateful things, but I think if we all were honest. We all have in a moment of weakness. When we feel prosecuted. So please give Mel another chance.

  • Braveheart is my all time favorite film. I try not to follow the drama of the Hollywood set, I enjoy movies, not actors personal lives.

  • I never joined the mel gibson hate club, i just found that funny idk why lol xD

  • And I view Mel in a different light b/c of what u sed about everything they do being recorded vs us middle class folk. Great video man, I swear you just keep em coming!

  • I've always thought that about celebrities constantly being filmed and photographed out on the streets. Just watch videos on YouTube of the papparazzi swarming celebrities and flashing a million pics a second when they are just trying to live their life. They shouldn't have to disguise themselves everytime they go out in public. Johnny Depp was right when he recently said it's like being raped, people blew it unnecessarily out of proportion.

  • HOW DO U MAKE VIDEOS SO FAST?!?!?!

  • I agree with you, 100%. Mel's fantastic and nothing will ever change that. I admire RDJ so much for taking such a public stand on behalf of his buddy.

  • Also, It's funny how everyone forgives Gibson just because Mr. Stark said so. I agree that we need to get over things but don't follow others.

  • I would totally love Downey Jr. if he wasn't so annoying and full of himself. Which makes me nervous for the Avengers, because I don't want it to be all about Iron Man. It's not Iron Man and the Avengers it's The Avengers. He's so overrated.

  • @assassin6637 PTBF!

  • @assassin6637 I can see your point because has seemed a little full of himself ever since Iron Man, almost like he is Tony Stark. And true, they have been emphasizing Iron Man the most out of The Avengers. But still what he did here for Mel was commendable

  • was that the afi awards

  • great guys both amazing actors and are awesomely nice. Mel Gibson has just been bombarded by the media and thats why people only think of him as a "jew hater" but hes actually probably a nice guy. Robert Downy Jr. is great.

  • I think that it's fine to enjoy the work which someone has created without having to like the person them self, for instance I can enjoy the music Michael Jackson created but I don't have to like him as a person. And to be honest I have to disagree with you on the point that if we were all as well publicised as Gibson then we would all come off equally bad, because I find it hard to forgive a man who has said such horrible things that I know I would never say. Still nice video Chris.

  • @nathstreeter Like I said before that "Seperating the art from the artist" critique is stupid. It makes no sense at all. MJ is the one who sings the songs & performs them & you think you could honestly seperate him from his work? Sorry to break this to you but you're wrong. You're dead wrong. Cus if you can't appreciate the person who made the art then you really never liked him at all. Can't get rid of one thing for the other. Doesn't work that way.

  • @jay256385 I disagree.

  • He is a Jew hater

  • I can't like Mel Gibson because he is antis emetic

  • That was actually really nice to see. Now i like Downey Jr. even more.

Mel Gibson on the other hand, i have always loved, i never thought much about his personal life because that doesnt have anything to do with his movies.

  • I respect that as well. I completely agree with what he said in his speech.

  • Will your guest be Mel?

  • fuck it, i forgive him!

  • Good video :)

I'm a Mel Gibson fan. I don't like his directorial work all that much, but when he's being reined in by a director like George Miller or Richard Donner he is a incendiary screen presence. Like you I've not felt the need to jump on the anti-Gibson bandwagon, because it doesn't solve whatever problem he may have. Good on you RDJ.

BTW, without wishing to open a can of worms, how refreshing to find a thread on this issue which hasn't reduced to "Polanski will burn in hell" etc.

  • I think that the only person who could blame Mel would be someone like Downey said "someone without sin" and that is no one on the earth. He just got caught in the wrong place.

  • i know who the special guest is chris but ill keep that secret to myself haha!

  • I don't condone any of the bad things Gibson did that got him such bad press, but I also keep in mind a separation of a celebrity's personal life and their professional life. Whatever he did or said, his movies rock and I'd go see more if they were as good as his others. Favorites include payback, braveheart, and apocalypto.

  • I never thought Downey was ever going to come back as strong as he did. Four blockbusters and an Oscar nomation...I am SO proud...A real testament that a man can get back on his feet...and he is also a very grateful man.

I don't think what Gibson did was right of course, but I'm willing to forgive him because I don't think he's right in the head.

  • Thanks Chris, i didnt see this, I think that was really cool of Downey.

  • I'm sorry but i've always hated that "Seperating the art from the artist" critique. How bout seperating the personal from professional life? It's dumb to hate the artist & appreciate just the art. Give credit where credit is due. To me honestly you never liked them at all if you gonna hate on the artist themselves.

  • my dad tells me that you can hate the artist but like the work that the artist creates so maybe its time for me to do this with Gibson i respect Robert downey Jr for doing this so maybe. as a film critic i have missed alot of great films because of my hate for gibson. so as a jewish man i will forgive gibson hopfully he has changed his views on jews.

  • I respect what Downey's saying too, for sure. But I don't think there has been enough time and effort put forth on Mel's part to assume any clean slate. He was screaming about 'war mongering Jews', 'white lady raping niggers', and he supposedly punched his wife while she was holding a young child... Now I don't know how bad Downey's mistakes were, but if Gibson hasn't worked through those problems then why placate? Don't people have to work for respect? I hope he's doing something about it.

  • Thanks for sharing Downey's words and yours as well, Chris.

  • love him in sope dises

  • Mel's an asshole. But it's time to move on and forgive him.

  • Thank you Chris! I really want to see Mel Gibson in much more films! He is a great actor!

  • I see Robert Downey Jr. as a lot different than Mel Gibson in this case. Robert Downey's drug addiction doesn't say anything, in my opinion, about him being a tool. It's a very hard thing to overcome. The thing with Mel Gibson is that he is an anti-semetic, homophobic, misogynistic, racist drunk. I do think that some of those problems are rooted from his alcohol addiction, and I am willing to forgive him, but I don't see him as just a complete "mistake" maker.

  • im usually a nice guy but the Email i wrote to my Ex and her friend were nasty & not far off from what Mel said to his Ex- well his was way worst but still my point is when you're angry you are 'out of your mind' & say things you dont mean - a\w forgive and forget is what i say

  • WOW cant believe he did that what a great guy, i've always liked Mel even after all he said about the jews and whatever, he's a fantastic actor and i would love to watch more of his movies in the future- salute to Robert.D

    (im jewish btw)

  • I dont really follow the media much, so could someone enlighten me, what Mel actually did ?

  • Everyone deserves a second chance. I respect Mel. I love most of his movies. Everyone can become crazy when cameras are pushed in your face. Being a movie star sucks.

  • i say forgive the guy, nobodies perfect. chris brown beat up his girlfriend rihanna and people still love the guy! i hate him. but everybody can be forgiven...

  • I hope Gibson can be cast once more as Max in Fury Road, maybe old Max.

  • mel gibson is a great actor, i didn't really care when people started to hate on Mel, i love Mel Gibson, i love Edge of Darkness

  • You have to keep the actor and the person separate just as we keep our jobs and our personal lives separate. I don't watch any of Mel Gibson's movies thinking the entire time, "Oh that guy hates his ex-wife!" or "That guy said bad things about Jews."

That's his private bullshit being magnified and put on display for everyone to see and hear. It has nothing to do with his acting ability.

  • Mel just got a bad rap thats all . He's human. We all say and do things we regret when we are drunk and also going through heated relationship issues. So I say it's more than time to forgive Mel Gibson. Then again he never offended me so....

I'm just glad to see Mel gibson get back on track thats all. Oh and the controversy with the Hangover 2 was bullshit. He should have been in that movie and not the director of The Notebook as the Tatto Artist. Shame on that whole cast and crew

  • mel is awesome, he definitely deserves to be in more films. he was extraordinary in The Beaver...

  • I think it's time to forgive Gibson... because he just said publicly what most people say in private.. (don't act like you don't do it some time too) and he was the most hated person for some time.. so .. I think it's time to let him back in

  • @alittleolder You think that, in private, most people tell their exes to go and get raped by a gang of niggers? You think that most people say that the Jews are the cause of all the problems in the world? The fact that his alcohol problem made him say these things at stupid times doesn't change that this probably accurate of his worldview. That's the problem.

I think Gibson is a great actor/director. I'd like to see more films from him. But don't diminish what he's done.

  • love love love Downey

  • I think Gibson is a great comedic actor and he also does serious scenes well. I'm more a fan of his directing; I think Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto are all top tier films and I eagerly anticipate his viking movie.

As for his flaws, no one chooses to be prejudiced; we are raised to be, and he has apologized repeatedly for the things he's said while drunk.

I think his biggest problem is alcoholism, and he shouldn't be judged for it because it's not easy to deal with.

  • I think he has been under the boot long enough. Let Mel work in Hollywood again

  • Really cool!

  • Leave Gibson alone! You bastards...

  • I am a huge Mel Gibson fan! I think he has done amazing work! It has def been difficult to be a fan of Mel's openly for a while. Because of what has happened the last few years. But, I always have continued to be a fan, and I am happy with what Downy did for him. Not everyone will forgive him, but I hope this helps give him more opportunities to be a part of more great films for years to come!

  • Mel is a tremendous actor and I love the Lethal Weapon films and really liked the Beaver. Mel might be a famous actor and director, but he's also human. Every actor/director has made mistakes. We shouldn't pin down one guy simply because we can. Give the guy a break. Kudos to Robert for that speech. He is also a fantastic actor and a great person.

  • They are like brothers. And I believe he made Mel cry. So yeah very awesome.

  • Mel is the master actor, the way he can bring forth emotion, the Patriot, Braveheart and his directing, Apocalypto, and Passion of the Christ. Top of his craft and that he takes the risk on himself when producers snub him is a credit to his skill.

  • Good video Chris. Have you seen Air America? I didn't like it and it would be cool if they will do another movie together if Mel doesn't retire anytime soon.

  • Making art that one likes doesn't excuse wrong doings. Gibson may have helped Downey out but Downey isn't Jewish and he isn't nonwhite. Would Gibson have done the same for a Jew or a nonwhite person?

We all do bad yes but I am not anti-Semitic nor am I a racist. If I argue with someone I don't go on to make ethnic slurs that have nothing to do with the argument.

I have yet to hear that Gibson asked forgiveness for anything he has said publicly so I don't see how he has "hugged the cactus".

  • @DaRunningMan actually Downey is part jewish on his fathers side, and get off me gibsons back if we were to execute every person who said something stupid while they were drunk or incredibly mad, we wouldnt have a lot of people left on the planet

  • @SpiderFan3 Downey's father is half Jewish. That doesn't make Downey very Jewish. Also, as far as I know Downey wasn't raised as Jewish.

Gibson wasn't drunk when he made the racist comments during his conversation with his wife.

I have never said anything racist no matter how angry I've gotten.

  • @DaRunningMan right he was just extremely mad at her and was going through/ about to go through a divorce / child custody case. Look no one is a saint and none of us are perfect... its good that you've never said anything racist while ur mad ... but the fact is people do. Do they have to be eternally condemned for it NO. Remember to heir is human, but to forgive is divine.

  • @SpiderFan3 People who say racist things are racist. Blacks and latinos had nothing to do with the issue with his wife and yet he said incredibly racist things to both groups. He is also very anti-Semitic. Gibson never asked for forgiveness for that. Downey did the apology for him and that doesn't mean anything. People are just giving Gibson a break because of Downey. Gibson hasn't said anything to admit what he said was wrong.

  • @DaRunningMan you really think saying something racist, makes you racist ... that is one of the most ignorant things i have ever heard ... have you ever said i hate you to someone you love ... think about it. Btw mel gibson is not anti semetic, he just is very bitter how the jewish portion of hollywood treated him before/during/after passion of the christ ... think about that to

  • @SpiderFan3 Saying "I hate you" is completely different than saying something racist. He was arguing with his wife and launched into racial slurs against blacks and latinos. What did that have to do with his wife or their argument? Nothing. The man has real deep issues.

And yes saying something racist, especially at the disgusting level Gibson went to, does make you a racist. The fact you think it doesn't probably says a lot about you. I hope it's just a case of being naive.

  • @DaRunningMan Downey is a quarter Jewish. It's nice to know your not a racist but you're still as judgemental. If Mel Gibson makes a public apology to all the Jews in the world, will you hold a press conference to apologize for condemning him? I doubt it.

  • @vinson1445 A quarter Jewish isn't really Jewish. As far as I know he wasn't brought up as Jewish either.

Your comment about holding a press conference to "apologize for condemning him" is silly. You don't seem to know what "condemn" even means for you to think what I wrote is some sort of insult that warrants an apology from me. What I wrote isn't an insult nor judgmental. It's the truth. Gibson never asked for forgiveness for what he said.

  • every man dies, not every man really lives

  • he's awesome. FREEEEEDOM

  • RDJ is my favorite actor. His wit and humor are great, but his classiness and experience is more why he is such a cool guy and why I like him as much as I do.

  • Well when someone is wild and does durgs then clean themselfs up its easyer to forgive and move on....But when you hit a women and are exposed as a bit of a closet racest thats much harder to over look..as an actor and director hes great. Its just a shame as a man hes done and said some things that are really hard to over look

  • Mel Gibson is one of the greatest action stars of all time ! He is a Legend !

  • I love mel gibson, always liked him since i first watched lethal weapon

  • Robert Downey Jr and Mel Gibson = LEGEND

  • Robert Downey is a true class act for what he said and I agree 100%, give Mel a break and let what happened go. I mean for Gods sakes. The media would not get off the mans back, even when he was doing press for Edge of Darkness they would bring it up. How many times can someone apologize.

  • Gibson ist a great actor and director but that doesn't change the fact that he hit his wife and although I think that such a cruel act can be forgiven under certain circumstances I think you shouldn't forget it - there are mistakes and there are mistakes. Hurting another person because you are drunk is one of the most evil things there are. Then again we are talking here about him beeing a good actor and not a good human beeing so...

  • @Coffeebean1985 We should forgive when we're asked too. No matter how bad it is. I forgive Mel Gibson. He is a good person. You should forgive him too if you're a nice person.

  • dude was drunk when he said those things

I think he should be forgiven

guy was angry when he said the other things

    get over it

  • I agree. Drives me nuts when people think "Oh I never did anything bad blah blah" Well we all did something bad in some point in our lives.

  • I thought that whole speech was awesome ... Mel gibson has been one of my favs since i was a kid and i dont think it was really fair the way the spotlight was being put on him.. Hes done wrong jus like everyone else ... Its what makes him human..

  • "We Were Soldiers" is still the best Vietnam war movie ever made.

  • i do not like the anti-semitism in his past but there have been worst persecutions done to Jewish individuals in the past and present than a celebrity saying something unbelievably stupid. if he makes an effort to redeem himself from now on then i think it is good find it within ourselves to forgive him. nice video chris.

  • his personal life should be no ones concern if hes a good actor and director theni like him seriously how oes whatever he did effect his movies are they any worse no so people should shut up same thing with tiger woods did he fuck up at golf no did wrong me no so why did he apologise to the public

  • I can only forgive him if he has proven himself a changed man. I don't think this is a matter of "second chances". He already had a number of chances, and he kept fuckin' up. Hollywood wants to make it seem like he DIDN'T threaten to kill someone, beat someone, made racist comments, and pretty much RUINED his reputation repeatedly. It's not a matter of forgiving him. It's a matter of him proving to the fans he let down that he has changed.

  • @DaOmega95

Hollywood wants to make it seem like he didn't do all of those things? Are you kidding me? Every time he does an interview or during some award event, they do their best to remind him of what he said and done.

Point is, He has nothing to prove to self righteous people like you. He proved to everyone that he is a human being with imperfections and I think it's lovely when people like you act like they don't have those, and that it's almost criminal to posses them.

  • @TwistedXDream As someone who has witnessed domestic violence in the home which I've lived, yes. I guess I can be self-righteous to say that it's hard for me to forgive anything like that.

You're talking "imperfections". I'm talking nearly ruining the lives of a woman & a child through callous actions. If it makes me seem self-righteous, then I'm sorry. I'm not without imperfections myself, but domestic violence is something I don't forgive from anybody.... Not even my own father.

  • @DaOmega95 I think you're letting your own experiences cloud your judgment on someone who's been completely remote to you and your past.

It's not up to us to "forgive" him, as he didn't do any harm to us. It's up to the people he harmed directly to make that choice.

As for us, the fans, our choice is whether to continue to support him or not.

Only his associates and close relatives can judge him personally. As for us movie goers and the general public, we can only judge his work.

  • and btw RDJ just skyrocketed to being one of my favorite actors, and more importantly one i can say i respect

  • those anit-semetic remarks are what got him ... not to mention how unpopular Passion of the Christ made him in hollywood

  • I actually haven't seen a lot of Mel Gibson's movies (I'm going to buy Braveheart and watch it), but I love RDJ from what I've seen him in, and this was a great thing for him to do. And Chris, what you say is absolutely right. It's easy to attack people who've done bad things when it isn't us, but I would look pretty bad myself if I had cameras/people recording everything I did. I'll admit I've hated on him some, but I think he deserves another chance. Everyone does.

  • I will say I have never been the biggest Mel fan but I will say he has a lot of talent and we all have done things we are later ashamed of. however I will not support anyone who will act clean for a few mouths or even a year or two and then just go on some binge or rant.

and for the record I don't just mean Mel I mean anyone

  • Awesome video Chris. I totally agree with you. We all make mistakes.

  • but anyways Mel Gibson is a great actor and director :D

  • FIRST!
