Later watched the vid with the sound off (cos I feel disloyal cringing when he's off key and I know he's uncomfortable! ) and just watched his acting skills.... streets ahead of any other Joseph and more than made up for the odd bum note!

Lewis is a tenor too apparently, and did you hear his cat impression in Under Pressure? Even Lee was having problems. None of these boys can sing high (except MAYBE Keith), but whenever Ben misses the notes he gets beaten for it. The fact that he gave it a go and didnt back down is admirable and he was robbed last week. Bens duet with Keith was a diamond gem!!

J/k, j/k, we've all got opinions. I think the reason he is still in is because he can perform- that is his strong point. Although he can have really wobbly vocals, his performances are always strong and convincing. But, he can sing when he gets a song in his range (and from the clips ive heared, he is very good at singing the Joseph songs too- maybe because he memorised the score when he was ten 0_o)

you wouldn't because like John said, Joseph doesn't have to sing that high. If Ben got a song, in his range, then he would show everybody and I wish they would. Lee plays it safe, that's all and we all know he will win because he didn't get tested in this way.

This is such a powerful song. I was in the audience on Saturday and I even made me cry. Ben has a very powerful voice, come on Ben!!!! You can be the next Joseph!!!!
What a clever move to give Ben this song which exposes all his weaknesses. However, I thought he tackled it very well. The only person in the competition who could have reached those high notes with ease would have been Keith. I don't believe for one moment that Lee or Craig could have done it any better. From my point of view Ben has the greatest potential and has star quality, and is more 'real' than Lee. His performances the previous two weeks have been IMHO the best so far by any of them.
I know! It was sooo mean of them to give him such a hard song! The hardest in the competition, what are they trying to do? Get rid of him or something? No I can't imagine Keith doing this, even if he did, he can't perform it the way Ben does. Lee's always had safe songs. I'm so proud that Ben attempted all the notes and didn't back out any of it, he was really brave and deserves to go all the way.
this song is a *****...i know, im orced to play it on the clarinet (i know, not the same as singing, but its still tough)- your jumping around over and between the breaks and throat notes...such a challenging piece. Ben did the best he could but MY WORD can he perform, even when singing on edge!!!

Nah don't think it's a lisp with Lee but as Zoe said he tends to do strange things with his jaw!?Watch when Ben comes to the end of a line and the lyric has an 's' in the last word he will avoid it altogether or slur.
So glad he didn't back out on any of the notes and just went for it. Shows character, even though he must've been mortified to sing it. Awesome job Ben! Glad you stayed. A right choice this week, good rectification of ALW ;)
Well, that was a tough song. He did a better than average job, but had several flat notes and was very inconsistent in his upper register. It was a bt over-acted too.

He blew some notes but I'm so pleased he's still in! Anyway as John said they won't need to hit those notes as Joseph. Plus the song is really hard. So well done Ben. I think Lee's gonna win though.

i also thought he did amazing!
i loved this song, really got into my head, and although the high notes were hard, he pulled it off really well.
the performance was amazing, and he really acted it well. thats why when vocally he has a great song which suits his voice he is AMAZING.
love him loads. backing him all the way.

did anyone notice before his VT went up, Ben looked as though he wanted to run out of the studio and never return? He was so nervous, bless him- i think he knew he wouldnt be able to pull it off on the live show.

This is such a powerful song. I was in the audience on Saturday and I even made me cry. Ben has a very powerful voice, come on Ben!!!! You can be the next Joseph!!!!

Actually, although there a couple of slip-ups, this is the first time he's really impressed me and convinced me that he could make a good Joseph.

What a clever move to give Ben this song which exposes all his weaknesses. However, I thought he tackled it very well. The only person in the competition who could have reached those high notes with ease would have been Keith. I don't believe for one moment that Lee or Craig could have done it any better. From my point of view Ben has the greatest potential and has star quality, and is more 'real' than Lee. His performances the previous two weeks have been IMHO the best so far by any of them.

I know! It was sooo mean of them to give him such a hard song! The hardest in the competition, what are they trying to do? Get rid of him or something? No I can't imagine Keith doing this, even if he did, he can't perform it the way Ben does. Lee's always had safe songs. I'm so proud that Ben attempted all the notes and didn't back out any of it, he was really brave and deserves to go all the way.

this song is a *****...i know, im orced to play it on the clarinet (i know, not the same as singing, but its still tough)- your jumping around over and between the breaks and throat notes...such a challenging piece. Ben did the best he could but MY WORD can he perform, even when singing on edge!!!

bet any of the boys would have struggled with this - ben did better than I thought- Doesn't take away the fact he has talent in spades , look at the group performances - stood out in every one , least next week he will get a song in his register

I thought he tackled this song really well - it was really hard. I LOVE HIM. I never realised he had a lisp until the sing off. it was really cute though-bless him! And he looked so nervous before he sang this song, and then he was actually CRYING in the song! It was sooooo cute! Don't worry Ben you did really well, and i'm backing you all the way! :)

Nooo Ben had a lisp as well! But only faintly, you can really tell in All By Myself! Bless him how cuuute?! This song has too high notes then drops to really low notes, at least he gave it his best and attempted the song... love Ben, hope he stays in next week

Personally i think that was unfair to give an 18 year old a really hard song. He singed the song way too high pitched and tried a bit too hard with the acting and then he song several notes way too flat

Nah don't think it's a lisp with Lee but as Zoe said he tends to do strange things with his jaw!?Watch when Ben comes to the end of a line and the lyric has an 's' in the last word he will avoid it altogether or slur.

So glad he didn't back out on any of the notes and just went for it. Shows character, even though he must've been mortified to sing it. Awesome job Ben! Glad you stayed. A right choice this week, good rectification of ALW ;)

Well, that was a tough song. He did a better than average job, but had several flat notes and was very inconsistent in his upper register. It was a bt over-acted too.
