I was at this show, it was simply amazing, and than i saw the new don cab about 4 weeks later in grand rapids and it blew this show out of the fucking water, no one can even compare to che, he made the band what they were

That's what I thought at first too, but Battles has a style of their own. If you let your brain detach them from Don Cab, they're a pretty incredible band.

wow, this was amazing. i cant wait for the album to come out. i think ian williams may be my favorite guitarist. having john on the set is really nice too. he's no damon che, but it's nice to see a drummer without a huge ego. the whole band just gels. tasty.

No doubt theyre the shit live but I think their records are kickass too. I've been a Helmet fan for 15 years now and I like pretty much everything Stanier's involved in. If your looking for something more straight but showing a little more of his chops then Mark of Cain might be more your cup. (His only band i've heard only a little of.) Tomahawk however is my favorite band right now, yet his playing is the most straightforward in that band. Very simplified drum parts yet very Stanier.

this is a band you have to see live, i saw them live and none of it translates as boring or annoying, the amount of air moving from all of them was amazing (theres like 8 amps on stage)
