Hey looks like a great adventure bro. If you were to do it again would you skip the desert part from the Mexico border and start with the mountains or do you feel like that part is worthwile? I'm thinking about skipping the whole desert part.

It's just north-west of Big Bear before you cross into the wrightwood area. It's called deep creek by the locals.

My father walked this trail. I hope to do it also. I've done the JMT. I ran into a lot of PCT guys along the way.

Deep Creek is awesome. I have ridden my horse along the PCT in the Summit Valley area (Silverwood Lake) many times. The beauty there is breathtaking.
