  • needs work on the timing

  • i have played in 1 1\2 and have played this the 4th and going on the 6th.

  • The first part should be MUCH louder, like a Plenum....

Goed gedaan Geert-jochie! ;-)

  • I played this work, when I was seven years old!

  • igy tovább

  • You have a few problems:

    1. Your left hand is faster than your right hand

    2. In Baroque, it si usually have phrasing epsecillay Organ. And you are just articulate like in Piano. In here, semiquavers should arranged into groups four

This is quite hard but you got talent on it.

  • You managed the fugue beautifully Gert. They call these the Easy Eight but they are far from easy in parts, especially that tricky five voice part in this Fugue.

  • Dit is een van mijn favorieten, geweldig

    virtuoos gespeeld.

  • This is nice. I like the sounds from your organ Gert. You keep improving and this time I can see you play the organ very soft and harmonic. Keep up the good work and have yourself a Merry Christmas :)

(Oh yes I've uploaded a bunch of Christmas song as well you might want to check them out)

    /Cris

Vol verwachting klopt ons hart, ohnee wacht.. Sinterklaas was alweer terug naar Spanje ! ;-)

  • Well Gert, I want to be honest with you. You have put up some pretty impressive stuff. This however wasn't your best. It might be the organ, but were you stuggling a little with your left hand (rhythmically)? I would like to make a suggestion to you, and ask your teachers what they think. Start working on Bach's trio sonatas. It will help your co-ordinaton. This upload was "ok", but didn't quite make it as music. Please take this constructively!

  • @organisten - I don't agree with you at all! You said it "didn't quite make it as music". I think this is wonderful music, the best!

As for your comment about the left hand, were you concentrating on watching the left hand too much? - there is a slight "lag" in the video timing (at least for me). Just listen to this without watching! I find no basis for your negative comment.

    Gert - you're great!

  • To be absolutely fair with you I have listened once again - without video. I stand by my criticism, which is not negatively meant at all. The work is "correctly" played, and I cannot fault it except to note that there are places where the interplay between right and left is "strained". Gert is an excellent young organist. That is why I do not mean anything negatively. Yet one does no favours by not speaking the truth. I stand by recommending Gert play the trios (like BWV 525).

  • Way to go there, "organisten"...let's just take this young kid who obviously practices organ more than most kids watch TV, and let's just try and smash his spirit by saying he's not perfect. Well, neither are you or I, so let's give the kid a break. His playing is well-executed, and I have no doubt that any weakness in his playing will be corrected over time. As for your desire for perfection in all things organ, how about posting a video reply so the rest of us can rip YOU to shreds?

  • Way to go yourself. You have only read this comment - for which I stand in the context it is written. You should look at some of the other things I have written about this promising young individual. It is precisely because he is so good that I have criticized constructively - and as for your last question why did you not look at my last comment? In the long term well meaning wishes to avoid criticizing do the young no favours.

  • There are few people who either privately or publicly have praised Gert Van more than I have these last few months.

It is in that context you should have taken my comments. You just looked at one video, and spouted out things that were not true.

I regret that deeply, especially your insinuation that I want to hurt Gert in any way.

You might bother looking at what else I have said, and perhaps his most recent video before making such hurtful comments.

  • In the best interest of not being "hurtful" to you, let me say this...his organ teacher and his parents have the right to make the comments you've made about his performance of the piece. His own comments indicate he's just bought the music, so I think cutting him some slack is well-deserved.

In the meantime, a better way to approach your view might be a comment such as, "You've made a good start on that piece. Keep it up, you're heading in the right direction."

  • You are patronizing, as though *you* should be the judge of who has the right to this and that. Furthermore, your approach expresses everything I think is wrong about today's world: that "better way" (your words) is avoidance of the truth. If you really care for the young you should call a spade a spade. The logical end of your argument is that you can *only* say nice things (because of age). How would they then know which comments were sincere? We are not going to agree.

  • With all due respect Organisten the Trio Sonatas are quite a step up from this piece: some of them a fiendishly difficult.

  • I think I'll refrain from writing. I am criticized for trying to smash the lad's spirit - comments taken out of context. Then my recommendation for an exercise, and that's what I meant by it, is taken to mean that Gert should make videos of the trios too. In the one I am looking down on the lad; now I think he is far higher up and I am expecting too much. I am not *expecting anything". The trios are a good EXERCISE because they develop the independence of the hands and feet. I'll say no more.

  • Not criticising you at all nor do i expect Gert to video the Trios! However the Trio Sonatas a pieces that make many professional organists I know frightened. I got myself a good tutorial when i was learning seriously. Ars Organi by Flor Peeters is very good with good exercises that practice such things. Keep on giving encouragement and don't get upset!

  • The Trios are indeed very advanced. That I should think of them shows how impressed I actually am with Gert. However, I meant of course to choose a movement of one *as an exercise*. Whilst I of course will bow to what they lad's teacher thinks, *as an exercise* you cannot better the Trios for full independence of the hands and feet. I don't think any harm will come of it. Gert is a genius now; I think he just might manage the above, and if he does... we'll all have to watch our jobs!

  • meant what "the" lad's teacher.. a little typo there, obvious to English speaking but maybe not to the Dutch. Quite seriously, Gert is going to be so good that we shall all have to watch our jobs. He is only a teenager now, so given proper musical training and technique he will certainly be better than me - and I will admit it. The gift that this young man has is truly, truly exceptional.

  • Brilliant Gert 5 Stars!
