  • SMOOTH!

  • The devil looks like Him from Powerpuff Girls...

  • I just realized this cartoon has the hidden message about sin and temptation of the devil. Oh how religous cartoons were...and still sometimes are. :|

  • @yingyangdevious . . and that's how they should stay. Good morals and ethics are missing in cartoons nowadays. What used to be good is now replaced with mindless humour and indiscriminate violence.

  • This show can be so racist sometimes! The book said ''Black Beauty'' and they make her fat with big lips. That's stereotyping! I bet that if it was "White Beauty" they would have made her thin with normal sized lips. Things like that really get to me and its always a black person!

  • @amirah68 there's this novel new concept, it's been around for centuries actually, It called a "Joke." Cartoons made fun of everything, not just black people. stereotypes are funny. I know I'm a Blue-Eyed devil Honky Motherfucker, doesn't bother me.

  • @amirah68 "Normal sized lips"? And how thick are "normal sized" lips, exactly?

  • PEANUTS!!!!!!

  • Absolutely wonderful.

  • 5:46 I remembered clearly but the rest I didnt

  • This used to scare me when I was little

  • Esos monos son repugnantes. Si el diablo tiene tan mal gusto como para querer llevárselos, que se los lleve. A mí me da lo mismo.

  • 5:19 black woman lol

  • the People That thumbed Down Dont Believe In Times There Mothers And Fathers Where Born.. No Respect For The Past... Shut Up And Like Old Time. And Days. :) WHY DOESNT THIS COME ON ANYMORE>!!!!!!!!!

  • This was clearly made by people on mushrooms...I haven't seen this in 18 years!

  • This cartoon would be banned today in this country.

Goes to show how far we've changed.

  • lol @3:17 !

  • I remember this cartoon when I was a kid. I sure turned out ok. There are about 18 scenes in here that would cause modern-day censors to shit themselves. Too bad we've turned into a nation of hyper-sensitive pussies.

  • Y_Y...semos viejos...

  • Because I doubt people would look past Gay meaning homosexuality..

'The word had started to acquire associations of immorality by 1637[1] and was used in the late 17th century with the meaning "addicted to pleasures and dissipations."[8] This was by extension from the primary meaning of "carefree": implying "uninhibited by moral constraints." A gay woman was a prostitute, a gay man a womanizer and a gay house a brothel.[1]'

  • @9tmchichi he says and ha

  • that devil is a rapist.

  • they actually show the black beauty scene on tv.....wow

  • @9tmchichi I think he said, "And ha" since he had been laughing like moments before that

  • Haha! 3:15!!!

  • i feel bad for old scratch. he was just trying to get those boring monkeys to loosen up a bit.

  • was this 1933 or 1934

  • @supgirl22 1935

  • I've spent so long trying to track this down! My sister and I loved it when we were little :)

  • "Peanuuuuts~! >:D"

    "Peanuuuuts~! 8D"

  • Gay means being happy in older english and doesn't mean homosexuality. Learn older english.

  • Ah, I miss when cartoons used to be kind of creepy like this one. They were much more interesting and imaginative than the ones now.

  • Stupid Satan

  • no monkeys! dont give in!

  • Peanuts...peanuts! LOL!

  • Peanuts...peanuts! LOL!

  • man i cant tell whether the devil is craving monkeys for supper or it looks like he wants to "rape" them... scary!!

  • @uavida He's looking to corrupt them. They represent going against evil, while he is evil. So if he can corrupt them, then he can corrupt any!

  • The devil has no genitals.

  • Comment removed

  • 1:55-"don't believe in being gay?" ....word?

  • Absolute classic, many thanks for sharing.

  • oh m gee! it has been too long since I've seen this, so squeeeeful!!!

  • Scariest shit I have ever seen in my life. I fucking love it.

  • At 1:54 ... do they sing "Don't believe in being gay"?

  • Since in the 1940s gay was not a common reference to homosexual, I'm sure they meant one of the classic definitions of the word, like happy or showy.

  • @MrFav3 Why would they say "Don't believe in being happy"?

  • @Stephen10528 Its more like showy or ostentatious, the don't seek to call attention to themselves. In those days many people sought to remain or at least appear modest. In our modern society its the opposite people just want to be noticed, seen and heard. The monkeys mind their business, and don't go speaking on other peoples business.

  • @likingthecorner Sounds like Fred Phelps trained these monkeys!

  • @likingthecorner yes that's the lyric, "Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil, no

We're the goody-goody monkeys everywhere we go

Never have we gone astray; don't believe in being gay

Being good's the only thing we know. So

Speak no hi-de, hear no hi-de, see no hi-de-ho

Not a single wild oat will we sow

We're so very very good, wouldn't be bad if we could

Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil, no"

  • @OTIStheCYCLOPS

See-No-Evil is totally gay. you can tell by the wink at the end. :P

  • @likingthecorner Let's put things in context though, "gay" in that sense is to be carefree, happy-go-lucky, flamboyant, etcetera. It does not mean then what it means now. *But it appears as though this statement has already been made by MarineMikeToBe.*

  • @likingthecorner Sounds Like It..?

  • @likingthecorner Yes, they are Christian monkeys!

  • @likingthecorner "Gay" had a much different connotation in the 1930's - nothing to do with Homosexuality.

  • The part with the sultry dance use to freak me out when I was a kid!

That was the only part! The rest I thought was kute. Til I got the meaning of it when I was older...XD

  • I remember this from back in the day when I was a kid... brings back memories. lol

i dont speak english very well and the audio of the clip it isnt better

    thanksss

  • On my TV, I heard "peanuts" as "penis", and I thought, "WTFFFFFFFFFFF?!"

  • @BrownyTCat Please don't point out nasty things like that on google!

  • @Stephen10528 Please either stop trolling or deal with it.

  • Betty Paige was the exotic dancer?

  • that was seriously messed up

  • Hmm, I don't know but I think I've heard of a fourth monkey relating to this tale. Not relating to this MGM cartoon. Wasn't there a 'Do no evil' monkey in the story?

  • I think..but the statue was three.

See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil

    I think it was

See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Do No Evil

  • So nice! Great animation and such a beautiful music!

  • love he monkey in middle !! see no evil

  • i love all the cartoons from the oldies.. the drawing, color and stuff.. Literally, its fantastic.. :) Cartoons nowadays are kinda boring.. :) hehehe

  • I thought Napoleon was jackin' off for a second there!

  • I just watched this on Boomerang's MGM section yesterday! I love the peanut song! Definitely adding this to my favorites!

  • I saw this on CN back in 1995. sigh I miss old CN =(

  • me too!

  • The Devil was singing "El Manisero" AKA "The Peanut Vendor".

  • good lord that devil's naked! He was WAY ahead of the red guy from Cow and Chicken! lol

  • What is the devil singing on 3:43?

  • Peanuts. hes trying to lure the monkeys as they like peanuts

  • i remember this cartoon from when i was little. i've been looking for it for years now. Thanks so much for putting it up, rock on!

  • That was the first time that the "Black Beauty" book gag was used. The second time it was used was the Warner Brothers cartoon "The Coy Decoy with Porky Pig & Daffy Duck. Also scenes of "The Old Pioneer" was used during the pursuit scene.

  • i remember this cartoon

  • At 2:23-:31 you can see Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

  • the dancer girl's design must been inspired by Theda Bara

  • I thought it was Betty Page

  • BETTY PAGE?? She wouldn't even come aorund till the 40s. Even Betty GRABLE had to go through her WWII pinnacle!! Hmmm...

  • they keep that black woman even when they air this on boomerang!

  • oh man. incredible.

  • The devil is sneaky and mean

  • wow. ive been looking for this cartoon for Years! i had it on video as a child, but u know what happens to old VHS's. They get lost somewhere. thanks for puttin this up. there so many odd things in this. LIke the chinese symbol on the gong meaning heaven.

  • and the fact that diablo looks like a jew, arab or some kind of ethnic person with facial hair. Also the 'mammy' character of black beauty. And the babies in diapers-that scene is almost the exact cell used from scrub me mama with a boogie beat.

  • You're totally right...I never noticed. I had this on video, too! I randomly googled some key words and found it.

  • gay used to be a term not associated with being homosexual.

  • great cartoon!!! terrible sound though... do they say "don't believe in being gay" at 1:56 ?!?!??

  • Yes

  • heheheh the devil looks like he b missin somethin

  • Harman & Ising were masters of the genre..such a shame that the pc brigade see racism in everything and they are almost always cut when shown today. Thanks for posting them.

  • @harbottle99 yes, it is a darn shame that they censor cartoons from 70-80 years ago isn't it?

  • los Judios, Arabes eh Italianos se parecen al Diablo.

  • the devil looks like he could be Italian, Arab, or Jewish. Makes you think.

  • This was when the cartoons were produced with unmeasurable talent, charm and the charisma that enticed viewers to watch! Not like the garbage produced these days.

  • great copy...zillions thanks!!!
