  • This interview is pure gold...thanks for posting

  • the most powerful weapon on the battle 1x1, thanks god make me brasilian and enter me to the bjj life style early!

  • i made this guy on ufc undisputed 3

  • Where can I learn this approach to BJJ? It seems like most BJJ schools are geared towards BJJ or modern MMA competition. I would like to learn from this perspective.

  • Comment removed

  • i love how he says: perfect technique and special attitude towards it lends itself to effectiveness and efficiency of technique application...and he's right, no such thing as luck...only hard work and time in the trenches will get you realworld results...nice to see he's still grounded in work ethic...

  • @tfiraz bro he hast lost ones he is brazilian like me we dont have that shit about competition all i have to say he never lost actuly now he got 460 wins if you didnt know he fought till he is 50 and what you sayin about his dad cuz damn he sure was the one who told people about rickson record and you are the only retard here for sayin stupid shit like that my little bro that is 19 got 153-45 in bjj.. go look at rickson all fights then come at me calling me a retard you stupid bitch

  • I NEED THAT SHIRT!

  • garrikpz he never lost so close your mouth 390 wins 0 loses so dont say anything

  • @felipede0107 Wrong, even his own father said its bullshit and I've seen footage of him losing a few times, hes great but he isn't anywhere near undefeated. Retards who believe shit like he's 400-0 should go watch another sport.

  • @felipede0107 google ron tripp

  • He is a fascinating man.

  • 7 people allowed themselves 'to get lose'.

  • @Ethan10510

    me neither.

  • Actually he lose in a sambo competition ,great fighter though .

  • 04:49 Esse trecho foi feito para o meu amigo ROMULO !

Pena que ele ainda nao entendeu !

  • Ron tripping ,rules !!

  • Fundamentals is the way to go people...

  • @ThtsTGuy Wow that is the stupidest thing I have heard anyone say for quite a while. Rockson died in a motorcycle accident. You are just a troll, and an idiot.

  • Amazing submission warrior , a really great legend

  • @ThtsTGuy They were not fixed fights... Your just another Gracie hater. Go watch any of his fights and tell me how there fake? I do agree that he stopped fighting so that he could have the feeling of invincibility and quit before he could lose but he was a great fighter and didn't lose! so go take your false information somewhere else.

  • very well said just like you im a great fan of rickson gracie.

  • Very nice!!

  • Legend!!

  • i want to learn gracie jiu jitsu so bad.

  • he's a fucking warrior

  • @monacode

he is the last and only real warrior. the spirit of warrior, philosophy of warrior. he is not making it for popularity or money. much respect.

  • i would love to see rickson and marcelo role no gi.

  • It's so good listen something from Rickson cos he got the way! my all inspiration came from his word. He does know how to pass his strong personality way out!

everytime when I saw his face... My mind it's come up... nevergiveup!!!

    thank's man! thank's GOD!

  • @TheGoongala, don't worry about it and it's all good :)

  • @zjitheman, you can go to culver california, his son Kron have a school there and his dad moved back home to brazil, i might me wrong

  • @77jiujitsu Kron does teach at Culver my cousin she does train there and Kron is a Awesome teacher.. As for this Interview To me I do not care what anyone says Rickson is a Legend no matter what anyone says.. I heard alot of guys talking shit about him and all but did they go in there for the Vale Tudo Opens?? No.. So really either Put up or Shut Up...

  • @TheGoongala , first of all, i was just letting zjtheman know where to go, cuz he left a comment, wanting to know where's Kron's school and second of all, i didn't say anything bad about Rickson, cuz i train at Groundworks jiujitsu, under Rickson and Kron Gracie, third of all, i didn't send u a message, so don't tryna talk to me like that, i was sending jztheman a message, that's all and have a wonderful day and may the Lord be with you :)

  • @77jiujitsu Oh no man I was not saying you were saying anything bad I was trying to mean keyboard warriors lol sorry about that my english is bad I am sorry bout that and yes have a wonderful day..

  • When Rickson talk you listen carefully!

  • Another problem is that MMA has advanced so much compared to when Rickson was fighting. In his days, one skilled in BJJ could fight much bigger opponents because the ground skills of the bigger guys were often limited. Today, everyone has good ground stand-up, etc. That's why BJ Penn could fight Machida back in the day. BJ would not have a chance against Machida today because Machida's ground game has improved so much.

  • Rickson makes many valid points. However, there are several things to consider. If MMA went back to how it was - no time limits, etc, then it would be BORING. There would be too much grappling. Fights would be drawn out. Fans want stand-up. They want the big knockout punch or kicks. They want violent ground and pound. If they wanted to see technical submissions, they would go to a pure BJJ tournament.

  • @mrkitanai1 Boring? If You want to see a show, go to Box. I don´t want stand-up, I want to see a technique in which the weak can defeat the stronger. Will never happen in the MMA we have today... Today, it´s sport (very hard extreme sport, for sure ), it´s not Martial Art.

  • @leocmen Among today's top MMA fighters, the smaller/weaker opponents can no longer compete against much larger opponents. Everyone - both big and small, are too skilled in all aspects of the game. The days of Royce Gracie fighting Kimo are over. You think a guy like GSP or Jake Sheilds would have a prayer against a guy like Brock Lesnar? Brock would LITERALLY throw GSP out of the cage. He'd murder him. EVERYONE knows at least some jiu jitsu today. It's not like in the past.

  • @mrkitanai1 Well, thanks for making my point. That is not Martial Art, that is MMA (Mixed Martial Athletism). I still believe, that technique can overcome the strength, and I agree, in today´s MMA, it´s not possible: rules, time limit, everything is doen for the Show. They are the modern age gladiators, working for the same "house", the "hose of Danna". But believe me, Martial Art is something far superior, and even Brock can be defeated by a weaker guy, in a combat with no rules, no time limit.

  • @leocmen Yeah, I see your point. I see what you are getting at.

  • Rickson, why did your family sell the UFC and force us to watch today's MMA with it's current rules then? Start up a new tournament type then.

  • @chozn11 Very good point. MMA today is something totally different from real combat. UFC1, UFC2, UFC3 adn UFC4 were relly nice.

  • Rickson will always be the greatest jiu-jitsu fighter in the universe.

  • Where can I learn Jiu Jitsu directly from Rickson Gracie? Does he live in California?

  • Where can I learn Jiu Jitsu directly from Rickson Gracie?

  • My mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

  • he needs to wipe the snot from his nose

  • The Legend, The Myth, The Man, the hero of my life, RICKSON GRACIE!!!

  • Rickson Gracie is a LEGEND period

  • If I could, I would sit here all day hitting the "Like" button.

  • Yeah Rickson is pretty brilliant. I agree to an extent about the competition bjj vs fundamentals and the fundamentals applications within street situations. But part of developing into a good purple belt up into the black belt is the ability to recognise that pressure and base and where your hips are supposed to be. The grip exchanges are an element, but having the ability to feel where your hips need to be and how to control a person are the base for even modern bjj. Rolls was the master.

  • Turtle is the best position for street fight

  • Rickson Gracie fan for life!!!

  • It's strange that he says modern MMA fighters can't beat larger opponents when Nogueira and Fedor, who he has criticised as having bad technique, have both defeated much bigger fighters. Rickson himself never fought anyone over 100kg. I respect him but I don't like some of the things he says about MMA.

  • @50pushups Rei Zulu was 104.5 kg when Rickson defeated him.

  • Tell us all AGAIN how you killed a bunch of people the first time you stepped foot into a dojo as a child PhillipsSFighting.

  • whats the song in the beginning

  • @ub3rP4n5y it's in the description

  • legend

  • People should be asking PhillipsSFighting how he became discredited by bragging about kneebarring people to death, claiming Marcelo Garcia is not Brazilian and censoring anyone's posts to the contrary before mysteriously losing all the video confessions he uploaded regarding beating Rickson Gracie.

  • Excellent point he made. Guys complain about weight advantages all the time or if the guy is stronger. They should be comfortable fighting somebody bigger or stronger. If they can't handle it, then they should give up competing.

  • how many minutes do you need to beat your competitor that awful thinking thats like watchin the clock thats all you hear from the gracies if there more time bjj is more effective in the ring i can give u two matches with gracie stipulations and they lost saku vs royce 1 hour 1/2 match royce lost royce vs shamrock 2 overtime n no win .its shoulda coulda woulda enough already . how long do you want to beat someone two hours really?

  • @sonnych69 i think he means jiu jitsu in terms of self defense and how rounds or time do not matter in that sense. not really the fact that any of his family members need more time to win mma matches

  • Ron Tripp beat him in 47 seconds. Of course, he had and excuse just like Gracies always do.

  • 1 dislike?? must be someone from greg jackson's camp..

  • Rickson is the best ever..

  • Bas called out Rickson at the Pancrase show and didn't replied :)))

  • They should remove the dislike button for this video.

  • pure gold

People here talking about selft defensa are quite lost

I love the sentence about skinny guys doing it right or not doing it at all, rememberd me of a sentece of the great Mifune "I thank my parents giving me a weak body cause that made me work twice as hard"..

  • Awesome!

  • Rickson Gracie !

  • I like how he says jiu jitsoo -__-

  • 1 person got his ass kicked by a bjj fighter

  • Nice to hear a recent interview - thanks!

  • I agree with everything he said but i also believe the rubber guard can be useful in a practical situation. I dont use it myself but ive seen others use it effectively

  • Live Long Rickson Gracie

  • He is the man....

  • Heel Hooks allowed in higher level divisions such as purple, brown, and black will help deal with the 50/50 situation. You want to be real then have all submissions allowed.

  • thanks for sharing!

  • Sounds very bruce lee like (like) except more specialized for Jits.

  • wow.. thats the master right there

  • Rickson Gracie,..super legend.

  • So true...

  • This is a very good interview here. I completely agree with it and I have been saying this for a long time.

  • wise wise man.

  • Good stuff.

One point though, I, and a lot of other people I suspect, listen to interviews in the background while watching or doing other stuff. Not hearing the questions makes this quite irritating. Please read out the questions!!!

  • Awesome.

  • Those were some great interview questions.

  • Amazing

  • Thanks, any words from Rickson are always welcomed.

  • Very cool interview, thanks for sharing man
