Ignoring Son of Beast, since it's been closed for over two years now, six other wooden roller coasters are faster than The Beast - Rattler, Mean Streak, American Eagle, Boss, Voyage and El Toro.

And that still doesn't change the fact that Rattler (65 mph), Voyage (67.4 mph), El Toro (70 mph), etc. are all faster wooden roller coasters (and if we're gonna discuss steel too, we'll be here a while).

@SomePotential A lot of people were getting hurt. First they were worried about instabilities in the metal loop, so they took it out. It ran for a while without the loop. 2:25 is where the loop used to be. Anyways more and more concerns were being raised about the safety of the ride. So they closed it down. I'm not sure if they'll ever reopen it, but it is still standing.

I have just been to kings island and I asked why it was closed,. the fact is that 27 people was hurt in an accident in 2006,.they removed the loop and changed the cars,after another "minor" accident later after opening,. they decided to shut it down completly,.other reasons why they shut it down was that they got lots of complains of people feeling ill and got neck and head pains after riding it,. there have been plans to rebuild the tracks and smothen the ride down but now they will tear it..

If your out of shape, old, or have medical issues don't ride wooden roller coasters. This coaster is a piece of art. Is it a rough ride, hell yes! That is the charm of a great wooden coaster. If you want a smooth ride, get on steel rail coaster. Kings Island should be proud to have the 2 greatest wooden coasters ever built. If this thing gets taken down it would just get replaced by another steel erector set. Just look @ the framing on this as it enters the helix, simply beautiful! SAVE S.O.B.!

I like El Toro because it climbs fast, then has an 80 (or w.e.) degree drop and never stops going fast until the end. AND i'm not a six flags homer, I live in NYC i go to Coney Island, Dorney Park, Hershey Park and so much more.
