Aye? I Know This Video Is A Bit Old; But EveryTime I Put This It Says No Such File Or Directory?
Can I Please Get Some Help?
I Got This Mixman TurnTable ;At A YardSale? &Well I Though It Would Be Cool Too Use It & Well? I Havent Found Drivers Or Found A CD For It For Windows;& It Hasnt Worked On Ubuntu?!
@pimper37 I would just suggest that you get ubuntu 11.04 and do a dual boot. This will also help improve the responsiveness of mixxx because an audio server (such as jack) can run at a low latency whereas windows uses an inherently high latency kernel that cannot be changed. If you need help doing a dual boot a good place to look would be the ubuntu website or a tutorial on youtube.

wow lets go back to command command line like dos because it's the future of operating systems.... linux is only good because it's free. I would pay not to use command like that like in the old days. Also the getting audio working on linux is a major pain by the time you are set up you could of been done on windows or mac
@lukechalaudio I'm relieved to hear you think Linux is good! And I agree that getting a professional sound setup is easier on Mac (not on Win!). The real problem with Linux is missing manufacturer support, which must be counteracted with constant reverse engineering.
@lukechalaudio On Windows you've got to install always Driver CD's and ... On Linux instead, developers are making open source drivers so that devices work plug and play. However Linux is missing manufacturer support, which must be counteracted with constant reverse engineering, this is because of monopoly-reigned companies such as Microsoft... ;(.
CLIs haven't gone anywhere. They contain a lot of power, a lot more than GUIs. People get used to GUIs, they make us lazy. Do you think programmers have progressed beyond actual programming and now create programs by clicking on magic pixels?
Linux is goot because it's good, and free as in freedom.
Bravo for this video, Jake3867, and keep up the good work.
@lukechalaudio Holy shit...you are the biggest fucking idiot I have ever had the misfortune to hear. Please put your PC back in the box and ship it back to the manufacturer because you sir are too stupid to own a computer.
@Caneroncel As I say in the (now a bit aged) video, the DM2 is junk hardware. Cheap and not very sophisticated. If you're looking for good equipment use a Hercules.
@iwan0t0smith Sorry for the late answer: you're right, current kernels don't need a patch. The kernel driver has been tested up until 2.6.32 as of now. The mixxx XML config has been updated to match the current release.
i was able to get latest from svn to work with 2.6.29.6-smp that comes with slackware. did you try svn? however it seems that the mapping file is now out of date and i'm having issues. the driver works though.
Remember to use the XML file that comes with the driver. Mixxx doesn't have it in the package, as far as I know. The other XML files don't play well with the incremental MIDI inputs that I put on the two platters, so scratching won't work.
so i am using linux kernal 2.6.31 (ubuntu 9.1) and i get some errors when making, because of the changes with the sound. is there a fix? or an update for the drivers?
Sorry for replying so late. Tried before, but YouTube didn't take it in... The driver is patched and working for 9.1, just not packaged into a .deb file. You need to check out the SVN version from SourceForge, and build from there.
Yes, as far as I know. The Debian source package should work best, in conjunction with "module-assistant", which is a great tool to build additional kernel drivers from the source. The README in the dm2 source package tells you how.

yes,cdj 2000 is good, but not great for me...just my 2c....well,ive been around quite a while with cdjs as well as turntables...i use serato so i can use my turntables...so in a way im still a turntablelist...no offense to cdjs coz i still use my cdj 1000mk3 for my third deck as a back up incase my laptop goes haywire...

when he puts his music on there its alot easyer on xp are windows its drag and drop he almost makes it look hard anybdy wanting to get into mixin this is it
Well, on the mixxx boards there were different opinions. Drag and drop is still an option, as far as I know; but this allows you to pick from the library without letting go of the platters. It's meant for those who don't have time to fiddle with the mouse.
god i got one of these about what 8 10 years ago used it for years put it up now cant find it but love the dm2 ppl that buy the dj hero and never try this is messing up

i was just watching the video after recieving my mixman and was wondering if anyone had made a similar patch for xp, i also wondered if there was any way to see the midi scripting information for mixx so i can try and configure the dm2 to work with mixx so far i have only managed to make it do tempo changes and start stops, many thanks Max

Brilliant! I hope to make this work on my Mac. My demo of Ableton ran out. I found Mixx, which I'm learning. I saw in the preferences that the dm2 is a mapped interface and found the drivers. I have a few buttons that came up configured, just a matter of time to get to full control! I agree that the dm2 is cheesy and cheaply made, but for a compact setup in my tiny apartment, this is gonna rock! Thanks a million for this post; it's inspired me.
