So ive been looking for a bugeye for almost a year, havent found anything, found a nice rs, but Im worried it wont sound the same with a nice exhaust and BOV. Does anyone know if it has somewhat the same sound? Its a 01 GC8 bodystyle. Someone help me out!!

@masterevoixMR take the Boxer, make sure its an EJ205 or EJ207 engine though, if you can get Jap Spec even better. Evos are nice and all, but Scoobies are just that bit better :)

@masterevoixMR The EJ205/7 Engines were a bit stronger and a bit more powerful than the EJ20's in the GC8 Classics, fortunately for me, being an aussie i have a GC8 with an EJ205 because they came in 98+ here. There was only a 5Kw difference for us but they can be built up easier seeing as there are more parts availale.

Don't get me wrong i dont want to sound biased to Scoobies, i do like Evo's but you cant beat a rexy, there only downfall is the weak gearbox :)

@masterevoixMR When i bought my car about a month ago, 1st and 2nd gears had already been replaced, but when i get enough money ill probably replace the whole gearbox, at the moment its still running stock at 150Kw at all wheels (Due to normal wear and tear) but after a few calculations of parts (mostly bolt ons) i can easily push 430HP at all wheels at around 15Psi for about $4000, including cast iron sleeves so i dont fuck the block/head...

@masterevoixMR Ok well basically the STi is the sports version, it has a more rigid suspension system, some of the years they actually changed the whole engine, i know that all STi's come with the STi Spoiler for better rear tracion, and the come with a higher bonnet scoop for a higher air flow to the intercooler.

Im not 100% but it wouldnt surprise me if they came with an upgraded diff system and transmission, as the Standard WRX gearboxes were a bit weak for the power they produced...

@masterevoixMR ahhh, i would say so but im not sure off the top of my head, i think its just a sports package that mainly focuses on handling, more than performance, they do come with an upgraded intercooler and radiator, gearbox, and i think a slightly bigger turbo (once again not sure) but yea, id say they are that bit quicker, it wouldnt be too much difference though, maybe 30Hp difference at the most :/

@uwanaugoda. That is the BLow off valve yes, standard wrx as well as sti come with something kind of like the BOV it's called a bypass valve. It makes little to no noise. I would recomend keeping this unless your going more

Than 20psi of boost.. A blow off valve releases unmetered pressure but it releases so much that it releases metered air and pressure too.

I've been reading that BOV's on subarus are actaully bad because something with the Mass air flow sensor makes it dump to much fuel in...Do you notice it in your wrx?

@Tcowit12 I am running a stand alone ECU that does not use the MAF, so I do not have that issue. If it were a regular ECU using the MAF, then it would be an issue.
