  • I think it was done poorly I didn't cry but not to be disrespectful I laughed, my mom cried the movie have not real direction and I took nothing from it but same Tyler sucks at making movies and has issues with women. This movie was the same old same old. I only went cause it was my moms birthday and I said I would take her.

  • EXACTLY!!! peace and love sister (PALS)

  • enjoyed your response!! I think you hit the nail on the head..

  • @khardelya

    thank u. i appreciate the comment :)

  • Kudos to you and your celibacy! I have been celibate for 8 years now. It's not easy, but it's what's best for me at the moment!

  • @weedap

wow, 8 years! have u dated in between that time and not found the right one or are u not dating at all?

  • @luvlywone I have not been dating over the years. Like you, I am focusing on myself and my future/potential career. I am, however, open to dating; it's just not #1 on my to-do list. I wrote a Facebook note on my celibacy (which I'll have to send it to you in a PM, because youtube doesn't allow website postings in comments). Hopefully, it will give you some encouragement!

  • @weedap

sounds great! ill read it asap

  • The prevalent thought which I took from the movie was how much of ourselves we give away to folks or men we think we know and really don't know. We as women open ourselves up too often too quickly to know whom we're accepting into our space. The question I will be asking is, "Who are am I really and who are you really"?

  • @PetiteBellaDancer

very good point. i know that i have definitely opened myself up too quickly before and got burned, more than once. i cant only blame the guys because sometimes there were signs that i chose to ignore. i am definitely not going to ignore them next time.

  • wow girl, what an awesome video. I am also on the same path as you are (celibacy). Bad relationships will definitely make you rethink alot of things, learn more about God and yourself. Thank you for the great video.

  • Awesome points!

  • Good video....

  • I agree with everything you had to say sis and I say the same thing to my friends as well. The lessons you took from that movie were the same that I took. And I am on the same path as you are on. I havent had a date in about 2 yrs and I have been celibate for 4 yrs. Making this choice was the best Ive ever made and along the way I have learned my own value. I also get the same "your standards are too high", but what is wrong with wanting what God has for me? Be blssed sis and keep pushing fwd!

  • Great vid, love your honesty! I can relate to you on many of your points. We black people have been conditioned to hate ourselves, and so many of us have become pessimistic. This is not our parents generation, I almost cried when I learned about the so-called gender wars, what is really going on in our community.

  • After watching For Colored Girls i feel like we as African-american need more groups/sisterhoods clubs so we can share our stories and learn from one another. I'm happy you have the high standards and keep em' high because i'm sure you'll find a man who will fit what you want. ~God Bless!!!

  • @beautynbrainz100

yes, i wish we had more avenues for black women to get together within our communities to just focus on making our daily lives and ourselves better
