2-The storm did NOT "spare NOLA," you ignoramus. The town was ripped to shreds by 120+mph winds. Rising water from failed flood-protection systems does NOT rip 200-year-old live oaks OUT OF THE FUCKING GROUND IN NEIGHBORHOODS THAT DIDN'T EVEN FLOOD.
1-They're not "river levees," it wasn't the river, it was the fucking LAKE, and they weren't "levees," they were drainage canal retaining walls, and in any case, the entire flood protection system is FEDERAL, under the control of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Gov't spending on "bums who don't work?" You mean like Medicare & Social Security for retired people? The VA for veterans? Or do you mean a trillion-dollar tax cut for bums like the Rockefellers?
The point is, all people go through disasters that are never heard from and the only positive thing to come out of Nola is the losers on welfare living in the projects now have a chance to get out of there and get a new start.
Stop whining and get on with your lives, like other cities who have suffered the same or worse but don't blame the government for their problems.

The storm spared Nola and completely eliminated Beloxi and the Mississippi coast, yet all we here about is poor New Orleans and it's victims for years now, it never ends.
Nola was destroyed by unmaintained river levees due to government spending on social programs like bums who don't work, instead of rebuilding failing infrastructure.

Just what we need, to be reminded of the wind storm in NOLA, boo hoo!
Katrina was the best thing that ever happened to NOLA, it finally got cleaned up and the lost souls get the rare chance at a new start.
