WOW I LOVE IT. I AM FROM TEMBEN, TIGRAY AND THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE YECHILA AGEW (TIGRAY AGEW) . LOVELY ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. ANOTHER LOVELY ETHIOPIAN CULTURE
...Some people interestingly say that that older cultures have these types of highly un-stylized and un-differentiated and some even add un-repressed expressions.
It appears that Gojam Agaw dance shares this identity with some other Southern Ethiopian and other African counterparts perhaps signifying to its elderly status
Dances movements tell more stories than meets the eye. They are stories of cultural genesis and evolution.
It is tempting to speculate that Gojam Agaw culture, as can be gleaned from its dance movements, may be the oldest of all Agaw cultures.
Gojam Agaw dance exhibits, while still having absorbed the various external influences that seem to have changed its complexion, a not -so-sophisticated, immediate and a residual, though relaxed, lower body movement...
