  • Awesome!! A Lebanese who is Wowed!!! Beautiful.. I wish I have a magic wand & say Shalom. Salam & it would work..lol. I guess cultures are like layers of paint, one goes on top of the other, some add, some stain & others are just neutral..Thanks for the history lessons here too..Music was awesome & it was religious too..It is like a one stop shop!!

  • Skabudaw, the whole arabic music system and instruments were borrowed or "stolen" from other countries and culture, take for example the oud itself was taken from persia. Most of the Arabic scales (Maqams) have persian names (Nahavend, Saba, Bayat, Ajam, Azar, Sikah (Sigah) Jiharkah (Chahargah). Go figure. Rest taken from greeks, turks, assyrians, indians and so on.

  • and also from berbers jews mandaean and copts.

  • Ofcourse!

Jews helped improve alot of world's cultures. I know for sure the Iranian Jews helped with improvement and evolution of Iranian traditional music through adding their beautiful voices and chants and prayers. The same goes with yemenite music.
