It makes me feel quite sad. It seemed so innocent and twee, a gentler time - were we really like that? What happened in 1984 that made Les Dawson say 'lets hope next year is a bit better'.......was it the miner's strike? Perhaps not such a gentle time.
this reminds me of when me dad used 2 pick me up at weekends and i remember this from that stage of my life.. strange how things can trigger feelings and memories from a long time ago.
Wow Xmas like it used to be - Fantastic! Is it me or was TV better when we only had 3/4 channels... now we have 200+ they seem to broadcast any old kak! Hi-de-hi campers!
that is my dad in this clip from Blankety Blank!! I was 7 at the time and was so excited to see him on tv and couldn't believe he's won a vidoe player. Do you have the full version of this episode...would love to show it to him, what a laugh.
I like the way the production staff are credited on Blankety Blank. Also thought the BBC trails for Christmas 1984 looked great, not so much the ident.
Kevcityboy- You fucking tosser. Quit spending your time wanking to christmas vids. Buy your yerself an Oldham kit and be the talk of Manchester. Ya little guttersnipe.
Kevcityboy- City sucks ya thick manc. I thought scousers were cunts but nothing close to Mancs. Ya spamming twat. Fuck off into tv world you demented muppet.
That was comfortably the worst ever BBC1 Christmas ident (there was one last mechanical ident for Christmas 1985, even though BBC1's regular ident had been computerised 10 months earlier).
The announcer here, as often on Christmas Day (I think he introduced the Queen's speech about five times in only 12 years with BBC TV), is David Miles.

Great xmas line-up. I was 14 and probably watched most of these. wonder what inferior rubbish the BBC will serve up this year?

Who is this Britkiller guy anyway? I've looked at his profile and it is contradicting with some of his comments on certain videos.
