It's so weird. The Canadian and American anthems are so different. Like ours is so simple compared to theirs, but I guess it just makes the Canadian anthem easier to remember. Both awesome anthems either way :)
It was cool to see the two separate shots of the same event, from NBC and CBC. Also interesting to see what each network chose for shots at different points. NBC tended towards the players more; CBC more towards Morrissette and the crowd, especially in the Canadian Anthem (which makes sense). Anyone else agree??
The United States guarantees the stability and prosperity the world has. Canada should be part of the United States, instead of a second rate world player, so that the U.S. could better utilise Canada's resources to this end. The two countries never should have been separated into two entities. We have the same culture. Canada should become part of the United States in the interest of a better world. I mean this in all seriousness.
As an American living in Virginia, I hope you are not serious. Canada has it's own culture and history. Manifest Destiny is DEAD! Besides, our fight against the British never took hold north of the border. In fact, many of our former Colonist families with Tory ideals fled to Canada to get away from the persecution they were experiencing. Besides they are our biggest trading partner. I know many Canadians that prefer their independence to 'Statehood' in the USA. We can't control all.
We may have the same cultural background (Anglo/English), but we are COMPLETELY different countries now. The USA and Canada can coexist and cooperate as well as any two other countries in the world because of the shared heritage, but it is better if the countries remain separate.
its so funny how americans are still learning english while canadiens have past that stage and moved on to learning french.........LOOLLLL stupid americans!
Canada when they say their second language is french..It's really true cause they involve it in their Anthem but in the USA...The second language is Spanish but Americans don't really care
actually we have 2 versions of our national anthem. They sing it in French in Quebec and English everywhere else, the bilingual version is mainly for ceremonial purposes but it's starting to catch on my school has a version now where they alternate every line.
Oh, and the French/English relationship is a little different from the Spanish/English relationship in the states, they're actually our 2 founding nations and are both official languages, if you've ever been over here you've probably noticed all our highway signs are in English and French. just a little trivia from a proud canuck lol
umm actualy no. rangel22....its sang in both languages in quebec the start up to 3/4 is in french for the most part and the last part is english starting around glorious and free.
that's a myth, the senate almost voted to have their laws translated into German but the Speaker of the House or what ever his title is actually stepped down from his position to brake the tie
so why is this a myth? My comment stated that it 'ALMOST' became a reality. From your statement it suggests that it was a possibility that ultimately failed- sounds like we're saying the same thing.
sorry i didn't make myself clear, just because the laws would have been translated into German does not mean it would have been an official language, it just means a german version of the laws would have been available nothing else would be translated (anthems, high way signs, cereal boxes, etc) and it wouldn't have been used it's hard to explain for a better explanation google it (but not wiki)

Try being English, we don't even have our own National Anthem, just a British one when every other British country has their own anthem.
Least your anthems are patriotic and not monotony.

@xtremekaizer Like I said, it's the British National Anthem. England doesn't have it's own national anthem like Wales or Ireland.

I only wish Americans would sing our National Anthem with such pride.
thopjen77 2 years ago 3
I totally agree. And most American singers, who sing the Anthem, always tend to draw out the last line, which is very annoying to me.
bigjames02 2 years ago
I also get annoyed with people who make the National Anthem last a long time.

I know, it just a bunch of pop singers who like to show off their voice way too much!

founding nations is techniqually right but is now perverted into political rhetoric that Que Nationalists grope onto.
