i have this guitar and you can get them in the glossy finish, instead of the distressed look, but, personally, i think the "roadworn" look gives more character to the guitar, plus the pickups are awsome!
For anyone who cares these lemondrops are great guitars!!!!
I have one also and it just kills. Its not chambered as many Gibsons nowdays so its full on mahogany sound. The neck is great ,its stays in tune and you can also hammer it as much as you want to, it adds to the vibe! The pickups covers age pretty fast too.I had to change a pot after about six months but who cares! Very, very good value for money. But, they are NOT maple tops. Its just a veneer on top of the mahogany body, 0.2mm thick.
Great demo, good honest review I would normally give the Vintage guitars a miss but this has changed my mind, you tell it like it is, are you doing anymore demos as I would like to know what you think of your Eastwood Mosrite copy! thanks.
Thanks for your comment. I've thought about an Eastwood review but since I've replaced virtually every part, it's technically no longer an Eastwood. I can say though that when I got my Eastwood in the factory configuration, I wasn't very impressed...
Really good demo - your English is fine, so thanks for taking the effort. I'm not a fan at all of the aged look (I see no point in it), but way Vintage have tried to create a good copy of Peter Green's guitar and setup at an affordable price is excellent. I reckon it's a case of going for that rather than the look ... which is what you seem to imply in your own commentary. Thanks a lot for this upload.
Do these compare to a Gibson/Epiphone les paul? I have an Epi and Im very picky with the name on the headstock. I wont buy a Les Paul or any other guitar copy. But i would like to know if these are very similar to the regular guitars that were copied?
Not really, you get what you pay for but you can be lucky. Let me put it this way: if you buy a Gibson chances are over 90% that you will get an excellent guitar straight from the box. With almost all low budget copies these chances drop dramatically. Differences lies in the used woods, electrical components, fit & finish and (the lack of) quality control. But if you have a good feel for guitars and a little patience you can find a good copy if you search hard enough.
@Muppio Yes - I see no point in the fake ageing but the other aspects of this guitar are excellent. Even the uploader of this video says he went for the sound rather than the look.
I play Guitar since a few years, and i got a original Les Paul standart and my friend a custom...now i have had to sell this beauty queen and i bought a Epiphone one....crap! so i heared about Vintage Icon V 100 and i bought one in wine-red ...BEAUTY ! and well, i switched tuners to groovers and pick ups to Gibson P94 and...sounds almost like the original ^^ really beautiful. promise u, to buy this thing is NO MISTAKE! ;) greatings from germany ;)
@Severiaxitus hello, i´d like to know if Gibson P94 have same size that the original Wilkinson mini humbucker of the Vintage V100 Wine Red.... have you modified the holes? thanks
Really enjoyed your review , thanks . I already own a standard Vintage V100 Tobacco Sunburst and its fantastic , I lost out on an ebay auction for the Peter Green Lemon Drop one and got the standard instead . Its my first electric and I reckon I made a great choice .
I can recommend this guitar but like all budget guitars, you should check it very carefully before you buy. I was in the music shop the other week and they had one copy that had very sharp fret edges. Play all the positions to check for dead spots, action and electronics. If you find a good copy, it's a gem!
hi there , your lemondrop looks a lot diferent than all the other lemondrops that i,ve seen .
yours looks like it has had a tiger stripe finish which has been sanded down , but all the others that i,ve seen look like they have had a yellow coat of paint slaped onto them , which doesnt look very good at all .
how did you come to have your lemondrop with a much more authentic finish ? cheers jimmy
Frankly, I have no idea. This was the only copy they had in the music shop, but I think that because the aging of the guitars is done manually, every copy will be slightly different.
no i dont think you can because you live in th us i think you can only buy it in england or europe in a shop or else you would have to go to the net and order maybe ebay or dv27 or something like that
guys i have a stupid question. Actualy i dont know if its so stupid, but i have a vintage guitar its wilkinson deluxe gold, thats how i say its name, but its this correct name and if no where to know those CDS5481 xDDD???
Thank you. A Gibson LP is definitely a great guitar but way overpriced. Eventually I fell for the myth and got me one, only to sell it less than 2 months later, somewhat disappointed.
Ahh I see. How do the v100 and Gibson LP compare regardless of price? And do you know if there is any weight relife holes, or big cavities in the body?
My pleasure! I sold the SG a couple of months ago because I hardly used it and it was too expensive to let it collect dust. A SG with p90's however must be a killer combo! Neck is great indeed. I'm still looking for a P90's equipped guitar and I'll get me one as soon as my funds allow:)
I settled on the Gib SG with P90's for playing punk stuff...I've been looking for a used Eastwood at a reasonable price, but no luck. Then I'd have to mod it out anyway. I really like the SG neck though, lots of room for my clumsy fingers; do you still have yours(standard)? Don't worry about your english, sounds good! Thanks again,
Was it a sg classic, damn fine guitars. I see you live in Vancouver - u lucky bugger, iv got family there and been twice - id sell my left arm to live there - beautiful country and great folk, cheers man,
Hey Woody, I messaged you quite some time ago, talking about SG's, Eastwood & such. ... I have to say thanks again for providing such a great reference point on the net for Ramones music! Chinese rock sounds great on the Vintage LP btw...
Excellent English. Way better than my Dutch for sure. Beautiful guitar. I am starting to take guitar lessons. I cant find a Ramones type guitar player worth a crap in Texas, so i will have to do it myself...lol
Here in Portugal its price is about 400 euros...It's not too much because its a really good guitar but I searched a lot and I found out an english store called dolphin music store that was/is selling it for less than 200€ ^^

@SebbeSucksBawlz
Yeah, they're pretty heavy. I estimate around 9 lbs. Heavier than an Epi Les Paul.

they all seem to have a coat of matt lemon paint ,with no stripes whatsoever .
i think you have a unique ,lemondrop .

it will still sound as good though ,so i will be happy with it , cheers jimmy :)
