Matt, IMO the problem is that we have been brainwashed in society that people don't want to hear you when you screw up and/or listen 2 your problems. There is little room/compassion in our society for failure. Everyone is a winner, star student, honor roll, next American Idol,etc. & if you're not, you're a loser & the cnsqnces can be dire. It's so wrong but it is what it is. In many ways we as a society our losing our humanity with this fear of failure process. I don't subscribe to that idea.
I think you're right about people who seem perfect, but I don't feel like a strange species next to them I just think they are Creepy, Obnoxious and a Strange Species.
Luckily I don't strive for perfection, I know I'm imperfect and I try to change my imperfections, not get rid of them but make them less of an imperfection but a quality that is abnormal... if that makes sense.
Example: I'm contradictory, I won't stop being it, I'll just use it to my advantage.
