  • 5000$ wtf man

  • I have one it's so cool

  • Lol! My Intel Core i7 950 at 5.5 GHz will own that shitty 8 core processor, and myn costs only $315! (Watercooled) Not than you can water cool macs.

  • get a sweater that fits, or pull your sleeves up

  • 2:01 WRONG. Too bad apple sucks.

  • i'm a windows fan, but i have to admit, apple sure makes stuff look good, like holy crap all the insides are polished metal, but their prices and Operating system is sub-par. Hell even my commadore 64 is better than apple operating sysshit (troll's way of saying system)

  • suck on that windows fan boys, that maxximum cores u got is 6 while mac has 8 hahaha suck my dick WANKERS, this means i can play crysis on ultra quailty without using a top end graphics card.........o_O

  • @xMaJiiCz

You still need good graphics, CPU dosent make your comp get better graphics. learn your shit

  • did you not hear him say, 2 processors. that means we could get "12 cores" . GPU model, speeds, size and bit counts, ram speed, size and timings matter. SO SUCK ON MY DICK, WANKER COS WE CAN MAKE A BETTER MACHINE FOR A FRACTION OF THE PRICE, FANBOY. TROLOLOLOLOL

  • "What's good today is also good tomorrow." What about the day AFTER tomorrow? O:

  • what are single core apps? would logic pro be classed as a multicore app?

  • This is a situation where the typical low-end hardware is found even on the most ridiculously priced macintosh.

  • this really has 16 cores. both chips support hyper-threading which double's your cores...

  • I work for a small, Mac reseller out of BC. and you would be surprised how many misinformed users buy these machines.

  • if u max it out u can make it get up to $16000

  • I'd like to know what kind of mainboard is there inside?

  • This beauty may cost 6000 $ ;D

  • @OmorfosKaiWraios try 2300$

  • prepair to have no money left haha

  • I have got a much faster pc then yours. the fastest there is...........damn it just crashed.........again.

  • I recently discovered some people that converted to Mac and all of them are positive. My best friend simply says: the Mac works, it's that simple. I am a PC user, but I rather call myself Mac-curious.

  • Oh God... your so going to love it.

  • i meant even a MACBOOK pro beats your shitty pc with much higher specs in multi tasking.

  • MACS SUCK PCS ARE THE WAY TO GO

  • You just can't afford a Mac Pro because you are a poor piece of shit.

  • ya tht is y i have a a pc with way sli with GTS 295 and i also have an intel core !7 extreme and 1300 wat power supply and tht coseted about 5000 so ya im a pour pc a shit my pc will beat any mac out so STFU

  • I spent over $16,000 on my Mac Pro, so you'll have to forgive me for thinking your shitty $5,000 computer is laughable.

  • ok please tell me wht you have in your mac because i want to knw if it is really better

  • 2x 2.93GHz Quad-Core Xeon

    32GB 1066MHz DDR3 RAM

    2x 2TB HDDs

    1.5GB Quadro FX 4800

    2x 30" Apple Cinema Displays

  • dude mine will still beat tht out

  • No it won't.

  • ya it will bro my pc has 3 way sli you dnt even have a video card in it i have 2 30" monitors anslo and my processor has 11 ghz so dude your mac is nothing to my pc

  • @tmakidd0703 the pc still sucks because i LOVE to multie task and even a mac pro beats your shitty pc with much higher specs in multi tasking LOL multi tasking is a VERY weak spot for PC. it's almost pathetic LOL by the way. the new mac pros are about to come out. it will get THAT much worse for u.

  • im srry to say but my pc is ment for gaming not surfing the web and cutting video and everything but if you want to talk about multitasking then ya your mac will beat me out but put it through gaming and you will not be able to beat my pc at all

  • Actually, a $5000 Hackintosh would give your computer a run for its money and even beat it in certain applications. I was reading a comparison between a 3.8GHz i7 Hackintosh vs. an octo-core Nehelem Mac Pro and the i7 Hackintosh beat the crap out of the Mac Pro.

  • @Mirrors997

Dude the Mac pro 8-Core is so much more powerful than an i7. The i7 is Quad core, first of all, and is 2x less powerful than a comparable Intel Xeon Quad processor. now when you put two of them together, no way an i7 can beat it.

I have a Mac pro doubed with a Quad 2.93 Ghz + an HD 4870. Not only can it play games (Crysis at High and im not a big gamer), but it beats the CRAP out of my i7 975 iin performance wise (not gaming)

  • I'm calling bs on you owning a Mac Pro. I don't understand how anyone who could own such a powerful machine could be so ignorant about computers. First of all, the Nehelem Xeon is the Core i7 in server form and is hardly any different. Second, I was comparing a 2.26GHz octo vs 3.8GHz quad in photoshop, in which the quad wins because of the higher clock speed. Cores don't scale linearly so you can't expect 2x the performance from a second processor.

  • @Mirrors997

Ok but you don't believe that I own a Mac Pro? I'll upload a video if that makes you happy :=). And i know enough about computers to be working with ones every day. I have a job and sometimes after work I repair computers. So, don't be calling me no expert when you sir, are clearly a troll trying to start a flame war.

  • Then explain the following quote you said earlier, "The i7 is Quad core, first of all, and is 2x less powerful than a comparable Intel Xeon Quad processor." Any expert would know that the Xeon Nehelem and Core i7 Nehelem are both nearly identical and the performance difference is next to zero. If you were also an expert, you'd realize that sometimes cores don't scale how you'd expect them to, so performance from an octo might not demolish a quad.

  • @dantheflyingnigger mate my $100 pc could fuck you mac over any day, you think your so special that you spent $16,000 on a mac, mate only nerd spend $16,000 on pc, i hope it crashes soon then u wasted ur money for a peice of shit !!!!

  • Then they can want 5000€ from it.

  • JESUS this has two core i7 920's!!! that's 16 logical cores!

  • And next generation will have 2 i9. So 24 logical cores!

  • Two i7 920's? Not even buddy! It has two Xeon Nehalems. One Xeon nehalem is 4x as powerful as a single i7. So if you're putting it that way, it has 8 Core i7 920's

  • Wow that's insane, Just wait till the core i9 Xeon that's 24 cpu cores

  • You're seriously misinformed. The Xeon 2.66GHz processor is almost identical to the i7 920. The only differences is support for multiple CPUs and ECC RAM.

  • @Mirrors997

I have the Eight Core 2.26 GHz version, which is way more powerful than the i7 or Quad Xeon. Get your facts straight, and I'll try to get mine. Mk? :]

  • So now you're going to ignore my post from before calling you out on your bs. You said the Xeon was substantially more powerful than the i7, which is an utter lie sir. I saw that you own a nice 4GHz i7 on your PC and I really wouldn't be surprised if it could beat your Mac Pro from time to time. Do you understand the concept of multi threading? Lets try a little experiment. Run Cinebench on your Mac and try to beat 27,000, which is what anandtech got from a PC.

  • @Mirrors997

can you not go through 3 month old comments and mind your own business?

    k

  • Am I the only person seeing that this IDIOT from CNet is taking out the cards by WRONGLY yanking the iron bar??.. there is a latch system on the left side which you need to move to the left.. the bar will retract with it.. so stop bending it, read the manual and then post a video CNET!

  • yup..he should pull the latch behind his hand

not yanking the bar like that LOL

  • @franquinet lol

  • where are the cables dudes????

  • there aren't any

  • must be a data cable and a power cable for every hard disk and disk drive.

    Where are they?

You can add expansions cards like pci? pcie? on powermac?

    And 8core?? OMG !

    How much it costs?

  • nah, the hard drives plug directly into the logicboard and are hot-swappable.

The Mac Pro has four PCIE Expansion slots. The older G3 and G4 powermacs had PCI and AGP slots. The Powermac G5 had PCI-X, followed by PCIE.

It is expensive, but if you look at another dual-nehalem OEM workstation at that config, the price is very nice.

  • looked it up.

the previous mac pro only had two cords internally.

    1) an optical drive power cable.

    2) A videocard cable.

  • nicely designed and installed properly.

most is built into the logicboard at anyrate.

  • Lol Cain you owned tipoo lmao

  • it's very goog how they make it from inside. You can pull everything out.

  • DAMMMM DAS A BIGG MAC no pun intended lol

  • it looks to easy to take apart, i would laugh my ass off if someone bumped it while playing and your PC just fell all over the floor

  • Bahahaha... tipoomaster... you are such a hero. Way to flame that other poster. Man, you must be fighting the ladies away with your dripping sarcasm and sublime wit.

izak1992 said that it is a 'super computer', not a 'supercomputer'. But a lad with a giant brain like yours was surely aware of that.

    Nimrod.

  • Just got the Quad core 6GB with the ATI 4870 HD. Nice beast!!! I love the rendering in Final Cut Pro. Photoshop opens in 2.5 seconds!!!

  • mr Jobs, can i please have one? :D Would love to convert to Mac

  • even though i am a pc user i'm sellin my laptop and getting a mac :)

  • Hey I got a MAC PRO and you PC sucker Dont.

    End of Story...!!

  • @pkerry12 I deny the existance of Vista, but I stay Windows user though. Just dont have the cash laying around :(

  • I fucking hate macs but have to admit thats one kick ass case!

  • shit!

  • THIS IS A SUPER COMPUTER !

  • No, it really isn't. The IBM Roadrunner is a supercomputer, not this.

  • Comment removed

  • Look up the definition of a supercomputer, dumbass.

IBM Roadrunner has 13,824 Opteron cores + 116,640 Cell cores = 130,464 cores for both the computing nodes and the operation nodes.

The Mac Pro is a high performance CONSUMER desktop, not a supercomputer, and only an idiot would think otherwise.

  • And where on earth do you get 6GHz from, moron?

  • Bahahaha, ok then kid.

  • You're fucking retarded if you believe multi-core processors work like that.

  • Don't worry, i already pwned this kid, lol.
