this is cool, I wasn't looking for this song and not familiar with it, just found it on a related link to something else, but coincidentaly I was planning on watching that movie today, and also a newer version of Hurricane with Mia Farrow... thanks for posting this nice performance and the info on the song :)
@Shewolfen What a nice somment. Wow, didn't know about the new version ~ all I wanna know is that I want to go to the imaginary Manakoora one day ~ not so bad to live in one's imagination. Will look out for Mia's version. Thanks!!! Johnny
That's so very kind of you to drop in and post a very pleasant and encouraging comment! We treasure your friendship. It appears that our undercurrent of musical desires are parallel. Please feel free to voice your choice. Can't always get to all requests but try. The more gorgeous the song the niftier! Please don't be a stranger and favorite one of my songs so you can be notified whenever a new one is performed. Mahalo nui loa! Johnny Pal
Hi Postduster. Wow, thanks for watching. Began learning steel seriously about two years ago. Alfred Apaka was smoooooth. Moon of Manakoora is a profound fantasy, full of imagination and creativity. Steel guitar is utter magic and tropical. Palm trees, palm trees, hula maidens and so forth. Don't be a stranger. Please rate and favorite the song and you'll get notice of any new videos. Be doing some more steel stuff soon. (Can also recommend instructional dvds) Alohaaaa! Johnny Pal
I enjoyed your playing very much. When did you start playing the steel guitar? I love the Moon of Manakoora since when I first heard Alfred Apaca(sp?) sing it.
Oh Panchito I can't wait!!! I am so excited about this. I listen to Johnny Pal every morning and every night. My computer is getting worn out. Ha ha ha !!! Johnny Pal is awesome!
Yes, go no further, and welcome to the mystical, magical island of Manakoora! One Mai Tai coming right up, with two umbrellas and a big slice of pineapple. Your waitress for the evening is Rose Marie. The drinks are on the house today, tomorrow and forever in the MangoDaville Lounge in beautiful Manakoora where each customer is royalty. You are also guaranteed to find your soul mate here! Alohaaaaaaaaaaaa, Johnny Pal
Panchito thanks you and agrees that he may want to do some upstaging! But he says he only wants to do it to "help" out on the video. Ok . . Johnny Pal
Nice to hear from you Johnny Play. I was wondering if you forgot about me. ha ha ha! Just joking. Seriously, I can see that your a very busy gentleman.

I've always kinda wondered how people got such a harmony out of hawaian music. another 2 strings seems logical lol. i've played with anywhere from 3 to 6, and 12, but never 8. i'll have to give that a shot if i can get my hands on a lap steele or something.
Hawaiian composers of yesteryear were very gifted and heartfelt writers. Some of that stuff is really gorgeous. I just prefer the 8 strings for a fuller sound. Its all about the tuning C6 which is low to hi, ACEGACEG. Hook it up and make a video! Thanks for da post, Johnny

I see lots of beautiful smiles on you again.
