and this is unedited video right? i have the kodak zi8 and have a problem maintaining the original quality. I have convert the files in media impressions first, Then when i render in sony vegas I lose quality. You can look at my other channel youtube . com / lostcitymedia and see my featured video, how low quality it is. If you have the zi8 you know what that little baby can do and youll see how my quality is diminished.. help!!

When you upload a video from your Zi8, do you HAVE to use the software they give you to edit, or can you use your own personal editing software? I have Pinnacle Studio HD and that's what I want to use to edit.

I got a 16gb sdhc 4 speed and it says i can only record up to 2 hours and a half on reg 720p is that about right?

The Zi8 has a standard tripod screw hole on the bottom, so any should fit it.

somebody probably mentioned this already, but even if this footage was shot in 1080p HD, we are only seeing 720p HD because YouTube HD is only 720p. With that being said, I love this camera, and I have tried a lot of other pocket hd video cameras. I find that this one had amazing color, great HD, and the image stabilization did make a small, but noticeable difference.

I've just received my ZI8 ..... in 1080 hd mode, my video sucks. Is it because I am only recording on internal memory? I am getting a SDHC card of course

probably because you are more shaky with your hand. This seems to be shot with a tri-pod

I am shooting with a tripod as well. I don't have any special hardware to play back 1080p on my computer. Is it because of this ? I have a dualcore system with a GeForce 7050 / Geforce 610i

i'd take the zi8 for its footage quality, but the flip ultra HD for low-light footage, ease of use, and overall design. the zi8 has more features (frame-rate controls, several resolution options, still photo capture, mic-in jack), but it also has some usability hiccups (it lags when you use the menus sometimes). however, in bright light, it shoots the best pocket camcorder footage i've seen. the ultraHD is very solid, and takes better video in bad light. its audio may be better, too.

I didn't know the Flip ultra HD takes better video in low light, I just got my ZI8 and low light video quality is exactly what I need as I have to shoot instructional videos at home. I'll give the ZI8 a try and the Ultra HD too

if price is no object, i'd say the canon vixia hf200, but keep in mind that it costs 3 times as much as the kodak zi8.

the zi8 is a pocket-sized camcorder similar to the flip, while the vixia has a bigger form factor. canon's optics/sensors are normally excellent.

Audio quality is not important to me,because I will record the audio with my pro audio computer setup. Neither is important the look,etc. I am only looking for the best video quality at a budget. Thanks !!
