There was quite clear hooking in the neutral zone, you can barely see that from this clip. This is the reason why Lemieux was all alone.
I believe that Don Koharski was the referee, and I really can't blame him, since the pressure for Canada's victory was huge, since it was still the time of cold war.

Fuck you and the U.S if that's where you are from. Jesus you fuckc make me sick to my stomach, if your not the best you have to shit on everyone else. Fuck you I loved 9-11.
There was also a blatant hook on Bourque causing a turnover and a 2-0 break on which the Soviets scored (no call=goal). Also, a trip on Anderson after which Gusarov (the guy who tripped Anderson)scores...also an uncalled interference against Fuhr that is directly followed by a Soviet goal...Who aren't you blaming for those goals?
It would be much better if both goals were not taken into the acccount and all penalties were called. It would leave less reason to discuss and think about it.
During the old times both sides did some unsportsmanlike things, Canadians were treated badly behind the scenes in Russia and e.g. Bobby Clarke(he admits this) broke Valeri Kharlamov's leg intentionally 1972.
it would be better to trust computers to referee ))) because of many reasons. Refereing in 2008 during IHWC was far from perfect. What do you think? is it possible to develope such a device?
im sorry but if you watched that period of time there was hooking all over the NHL, you cant think of it in todays NHL terms.

I'm no way a fan of Russian hockey, but this goal is a disgrace for the referee.
