Me and my friends in college got the apl shoe and we put it to the test and its know that the shoe is only for those who play basketball and who are athletic on the bottom part of there body i did research and it says if your a one foot to an often two foot jumper you will increase your leap in these shoes
@phxballer29 Logically what you have said makes no sense what so ever. It shouldn't matter if you are a 1 or 2 foot jumper, you are still just applying force to the ground. Also, where does APL say that you need to jump a certain way in order for them to work? They don't.
@coveballer22 I guess I am used to the Nike Kobe's, the Nike Hyperdunks, and more recently the Adizeor Crazy Light Lows which are all several ounces lighter. For me, I really notice the difference when I am running and jumping in those shoes compared to the APL's. I still love the colors and wish they would make a low cut pair. I would probably buy them even though they don't help you jump hgiher.
@VerticalJumping yeah that is true cause my new basketball shoes were heavy then i usaully wear and i could jump in them untell i got use to them so yeah that is true and the shoes only for some people they say
PLEASE!!! DO NOT make the same mistake I made and buy these shoes.
I tried the APL shoes on in my house, did a couple of test jumps, compared them to my running shoes and noticed no difference. I sent them back to APL within 4 days expecting to get a full return. However, they told me once I try the shoe on I'm stuck with it because it is deemed to be worn. WOW!!!! Must be a great product if the only time you to try it on is when it comes in the mail and your stuck with it. $170 What a joke! :(
your jumps with APL you stopped for a mini second and lost all of your speed which means less thrust for vert. When you wore the other shoes you didn't stop as much and you got that extra height.
@rtlee23 I think only via their website. I would imagine if they sold them in stores people would be able to try them on and see for themselves that they don't work and wouldn't waste their money
@dangvuson I think only via their website. I would imagine if they sold them in stores people would be able to try them on and see for themselves that they don't work and wouldn't waste their money
@ImNsqK Good question. I don't know. Possibly somebody in the NBA has shares in APL. What I do know is that the NBA has never released any actual testing of these shoes. More to the point - why aren't these available in shops? Is it because then people could actually see if they worked before paying for them. Very likely.
@VerticalJumping True. Some people arent interested in how the shoe works or if it can make u jump higher, some people just like the looks of the shoe(which disappoints me)
Thanks for this video though. I was thinking of getting them but now im a little cloudy on whether or not to get them. The price does not mean that it is a good shoe.
@ImNsqK I own a pair of Nike Kobe's that I jump much higher in - obviously. Also, I recently bought a pair of Nike Hyperdunks which I also rate very highly to play, run and jump in. I don't work for Nike, Nike doesn't pay me anything, I just jump higher in their shoes which are much lighter.
@VerticalJumping Hey you couldn't dunk anyway in them shoes.. You extra TOP HEAVY These shoes are for people who jump with there entire body.. I never seen someone swing they arms so hard just to touch the rim OMG!!
Hey Im buying either Kobe 6s or the new hyper dunk supremes tommorow. Which are better for jumping? If you have any opinions or anything to say about either it would be very appreciated
@redberrey1 I love the Kobes and do my best jumping in them. I have only played in my Hyperdunks once but they seem pretty light too. I prefer the low cut design of the Kobe's for jumping but if you don't mind higher cuts shoes either will be a great purchase.
A lot of it will depend on your jump technique, like for instance I put a lot of emphasis on jumping with the balls of my feet and the APL's increased my jump by 5 inches because of where the spring system is in the shoes (which is exactly where I emphasise pressure). I guess it's gonna be different for everyone and you're definitely right that it's hard to judge against a small sample. I have a lot of respect for this judgement.
bullshit. i bought them last week and had 10 friends and me try APL's. We tested them and everyone increased their vert by over an inch. Nicee try but ur probably one of those jerks who doesnt work 4 nike but wants to promote their shoes. Its obvious to everyone u werent trying with APL's on.
@bigjordan23minecraft Hi Big Jordan, I have always said that my reviews were based on my experiences with them. To me they feel heavy and cumbersome. I have no desire to work for Nike or promote their shoes specifically. In my other video you will see I tested them against a pair of Converse Wade 1's, not just the Nike's. I am glad for you and your friends, but for me, they simply don't work at all.
@jRxiHoop I agree. But this is mostly because the Kobe's are 33% lighter and low cuts and don't feel like bricks on my feet compared to the APL's. This isn;t limited to just these videos. Whenever I wear the APL's in games I can barely touch the rim. In the Kobe's I am able to hang off the rim off two steps.
@forrestf95akawhite About 2 years ago I was able to do it reasonably consistently off a lob. Just a basic lob, run in and catch and dunk, but at my height (and age) I was happy to do that. I developed Jumpers Knee though and had to stop training for about 9 months and lost about 10 inches off my jump. It is under control now and I would love to train up to do it again but finding the time to dedicate to training and recovery would be very tough.
@VerticalJumping yea man that suck im 16 with a just measured 36 in vertical i can hit the padding on the backboard with my head and am excited to make it go higher and higher
@EastLosBaller323 Right. So now the shoes require a special jump technique for them to work. If they were any good shouldn't they just work. And I am 5'9 with a standing reach of 227cm. For me to grab the rim requires a running vertical of 35-36 inches. At my age (nearly 37 years old) I would say I know how to jump pretty well actually.
@chrapladm No CP3's. The Kobes are great shoes for jumping in. I have a pair of Nike Hyperfuse low cuts too and I think the Kobe's are better than them even though they are both very light shoes.
@zackkurz Hi Zack, I am glad they worked for you. I have always said the tests I did were on a sample size of just one, and for me they always let me down. Pity, because I love the look of the shoes and I still play in them a lot regardless. Thanks for the comment. Cheers Jack
Jumping high requires alot of things n a good comfortable shoe is one of them u may have had a better fit in the kobes then the apl's n wasnt as comfortable a fit
@zackkurz Hi Zack, or maybe the APL's don't work. They do fit fine, and I have played plenty of games etc in them, but the reality for me is that they heavy and don't actually offer any extra spring. That is why I consistently jump higher in the Kobe's. The APL claim of instant inches is bogus.
I suggest using one foot, instead of just using only two feet in all of your APL Shoe test's. It depends on how much explosive power you have on your legs. Maybe work on your legs a little more, and then test the APL Shoes again. Instead of doing 3 tests using two feet, try doing 6 tests, half are using two feet to jump, and the other half using only one foot to jump (while running). Try to make a video of my idea please.
ok so my friend bout then and got a 1nch and 1 half, i just got them yesterday havent tried them yet, its all in your form and how much vertical u have if your vert is under 30 clearly you wont get as much as a 40, the shoes are better advanced for 40 inch plus verticals, and clearly the nba banned them for a reason not justc ause they are your ordinary shoe
@Leesner My running vertical is in the low 30's but they don't help me. I wish they worked, but in all the testing I have done, they don't. I would love to know on what basis the NBA banned them. Did they do some testing? Who knows? The NBA certainly hasn't said so. For all we know the guy in the NBA marketing department could have shares in APL. If they genuinely worked for me I would tell everybody to buy a pair.
@Leesner Also having said all that, I do readily acknowledge my sample size is just me. I do genuinely hope you get better results than I did. Try some actual jump tests though, don't just go on - "they feel like I am jumping higher". Good luck with them.
im 10 i can dunk on 65 goal i want to go up to 7 any ideas
