@5970328 The funny part is, I was trail guiding and just finished telling the participants "The trail is very off-camber, you are going to feel like your going to tip over but no one has and no one will"...lol
I was the tailgunner that day and everyone had been through there but me...lol
Hahaha, yep, at the time, I had two Jeeps, my TJ and this one which I called "my wifes Jeep", we then went through a nasty separation, she got the house, I got the Jeeps...
hybrid ZJ =) hear no engine ( i kid i kid!) but how did you install the front tow hooks?? i am looking to get some but they want like 250 dollars a piece for the brackets from jeep.. I actually like yours more..
Roll cages will not prevent damage but an exo cage will maybe a good idea for the newer rigs that have nice bodies still... all in all excellent save and a very graceful roll
Was the drivers side window open as well? I broke my jeep in a ditch once.. just dented the rocker panel and passenger side door. Had to tow it out sideways with a tow truck, otherwise the front end would have ripped off.
Hey Bigjr...tell me what makes a LR Defender way better off-road??
I also wheel and trail guide with/for M.O.R.E. (Maritime Organization Rover Enthusiasts) and my best friend has one and yes they work well off-road but better??
Actually, the Land Rover equivalent to the cherokee (a posh suv) would be the LR3 not the defender. The cherokee is definitely more capable than the LR3.
The defender is a utility vehicle, more like the wrangler (which they both are very close in offroad performance, jeep still better imo)
Plus the defenders are being offered in less and less countries because no one buys them.
But a silly brit like you wouldn't want a fair comparison anyways.
heres my opinion. if somebody bought a cj or tj, then spent the extra money on upgrades (verses just buying a rover), the jeep would be better, no questions asked. a tricked out wrangler beats a stock defender any day
haha...yeah it WAS my wife's Jeep and I have been wheeling it because my TJ is in for a complete rebuild (since last March) oh and we seperated, hence being dead in the back ;) lol
just like its a isuzu rodeo thing, and a isuzu trooper thing, toyota 4runner thing, FJ40 thing, Ford Explorer thing, ford bronco 2 thing, Defender90 thing, nissan pathfinder thing and any other SUV that sits higher than a honda civic.
It's more of a 4" travel thing. I had a truck with 38's, the top of the hood was 5.5 ft high, and it would have lumbered right thru the same line and not even picked up a tire. I'm building a airbagged 44" truck now.
Yeah I know what you are saying, I just hate it when people act like a jeep is predisposed to rolling and other 4x4s aren't. I had an argument once with someone who was telling me his stock Isuzu Rodeo cant roll as easy as a stock grand Cherokee. I was banging my head on my desk before I gave up lol
Hey, It's just a little roll over, a tiny bump at most but I have to say before you laid it over you drove that baby very smoothly. Very smoothly indeed.....(-;
I rolled my 1976 CJ 5 on 4 occasions. Full cage, no problems.
I was trail guiding for the Jamboree and my buddies Jeep broke down on the way in so I leant him my '03 TJ for the weekend...The TJ is currently in rebuild, swapping in locked d44's front and rear with a doubler tcase and 6" long arms with 35's
"There are certain inevitabilities in life. There will always be death, there will always be taxes, and Jeeps that get taken off-road will sometimes roll. "
You may be right about having the wheel turned so much...I've run the trail a hundred times in my TJ and always just held on to it through there...It definately knocked my confidence level down a notch or two...The funny thing is this happened just after I told the participants that it's very off camber, no one has ever rolled and no one will...oops!
I believe your TJ has a shorter wheel base. I would guess that if you have been using it to make that run in the past you forgot that your back end was sticking out so far and prematurely turned your wheels. Regardless, I still think it is the slowest roll I have ever seen. Sorry you had do damage your rig though. How much did that end of costing you. I bet your wife had your ass for diner.
dont worry my x rolled my xj it was locked both ends and on 35"s and thats y shes my x not really, but now i got a zj on 33" not locked yet but good job jeeps for life
Tip it back over...keep going. Its a Jeep thing.

for that...... a roll cage doesn't help prevent body damage

what doyou mean

theres nothing complicated about it.... a roll cage doesn't prevent body damage....
ragnotgizmo 3 years ago
all a roll cage does is prevent the passenger compartment from clollapsing it wont prevent vechile body damage ...nor persons injury

they both crap get a hilix
taviswade 3 years ago
that had nothing to do with the vehicle OR the driver. In fact, the hilux would've tipped over quicker since there's hardly any weight at the rear.
