  • Who'd afraid of the COokie MOnster!?!

  • Oh lord, the Mark IV is so fucking beautiful....because it looks like my Dual Caliber :D

  • I woke up today and the first thing I thought was, "I need to listen to this song." Day = complete.

  • dude your playing is awesome i love that heavy riffing!!! love your tone! i play a triple rec ... check out my band! not quite as technical but you know we got the grooves i think you might like haha... look up Bow Before Thy Grave listen to the songs Blonde Extensions, Prophet of Lies, and 666... have a great day!

  • I'm more of a Megadeth/Slayer and blues shred kind of John Sykes-ish player, but I love watching your videos, man. You have a great vibe and groove in your rhythms and showing off all these amps is always great to watch.

  • sick tone bro

  • What Tuning Do You Have That MTM2 In?

  • I know this video has been around for a while, but do you remember if any of the knobs were pulled? Hard to tell from the video. Also, do you remember what settings you had on the back? And of course a third question, when using the lead channel, how do you boost the volume so leads stand out in a live situation?

  • The French kid named Michelle from Hancock?

  • Hello Fearedse. An important question: I own a Mark IV and my band is going to record our first EP soon. On a few tests we did with SM 57 mics placed in front of a 4x12 cab(Celestion V30s speakers), we saw that the mic "clipped" (ie. too high volume) when we had the following volume settings: Lead Channel Volume set to 2, Master volume set to 2. No booster pedals in front. Your settings were : 5, 2 AND booster. How do we prevent mic clipping? I hope to get an answer soon! Keep up the great work!

  • @givemeajackson I did read the description and it still didn't answer my question.

  • Guys, I need your help.

Im looking for a new amp, and im kinda stuck between a Engl powerball-2, Mesa boogie dual recti and a mark iv. I play stuff like Amon Amarth, In flames, Parkway drive, Machine head, all in all, modern metal. Though i need an amp which can produce good cleans and more rock tones too.

I suppose the mark is more versile, but can it be brutal enough?

  • @TheGarfi

ENGL is the all round best if you want really tight sounds IMO, but you may want to investigate the Peavey 6505.

  • @Madbutcher305 I already have a 5150, but i need cleans

  • @TheGarfi

Ahh, then I'd go for the Mark IV. So long as you have a tubescreamer or equivalent it can do brutal stuff.

  • Are they stock pickups in that Ibanez and is this distortion purely from the Mesa amp, no additional enhancement pedals or anything??

  • @7thS0Nofa7thS0N why do people continue to think that reading the description is more work than posting a comment? and these are stock pups.

  • This just showed me the ad for WoW with Chuck Norris... Careful Ola, he is watching you now

  • You kinda look like the actor who played The Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz.

  • this is so sweet man.. can you tell me the back settings of the amp?? triode/class-A? cheers \m/

  • you should do a demo of the Mark III green stripe, an amazing amp that gets almost no recognition. imo next best thing to the IIC+

  • Mark V is a joke compared to this.

  • @ESP4thaWin I thought so too, or if were talking solely based on Ola's video. But then again, The Mark V is pretty tight considering its NOT boosted, whereas this Mark IV is boosted with the Maxon.

  • Finns det fysiska plattor ute på "Feared"? Instant buy isåfall!

  • @megabauta23 fearedband . com

  • great record, man. have you used a lot of equalization while mixing and mastering? as if I believe the overview of amp settings you have your lead bass on 0 and equalizer bass freq are a little bit lowered. so where did all the low freq came from? mixing eq, mic position, or just outrageous amount of low freq the amp provides?

  • Comment removed

  • Holy shit .. That rythm part and this little arpeggied chord at 0:36 are just beautiful!

Grongratulation for Epic Metal Win \m/

  • YEAHHHHHHHHHH MTM2

  • Almost the anniversary of this video and when i started watching your videos! The video I started on was your Mesa V Engl Shootout video and I was blown away by how awesome yet different the tones were. Keep the dragon breathing fire man!

  • loving the song man you're a great player. what's that chord at 0:35?

  • what string gauge do you use???

  • The is nothing like a good amped and a decent mic. Pretty good song, the chorus blew me away man.

  • Whats the riddle in your tags?

  • Brutal song and brutal tone!! LOVE it!

  • Man , you Rock!! Impressive !! Are you mexed this song with Logic 9 or Just recorded your guitars with it ? thanks for share your talent

  • Easily my favorite guitar sound out of all your vids. Real fleshy tremolo picking sound and nice and chunky too.

  • The vocalist from feared is brazilian, right? :D

  • @rodolfodpo Sou sim. ;) Vc é Brasileiro tb? Espero que continues ouvindo Feared.

  • lyrics?

  • Damn dude, who is this great singer with you?

  • what is difference of mesa mark 4 VS 5 ?

  • Hey sleazy you borrow this amp to me ? ;D

  • loved it! well done bro,im pickin up my first mark lv very soon.I play the full range of rock to metal to chicken pickin.I thnk this mesa is gonna do the job.Thoughts?

  • @TheCelticknights definitely! If you want this sound though you have to get a overdrive to go with it.

  • @fearedse

yo dude i have an oldskool triple recto if you look on my vids you will see which one i am on about i am wanting to get more umph out of it any ideas?

  • which software are u using for track editing in your mac ??

  • Hey Ola any idea what year that head is? Not that it really matters cause Mesa slay anyway im just curious is all???

  • @BlackJackATX1178 not a clue :/

  • @fearedse Its cool. Just curious is all.. By the way Scarpoint is becoming one of my fav bands very quickly!!!

  • @fearedse it's gotta be older than 1993; i've got a 1992 mk4 and it doesn't have the harmonics/mid switch or the graphic eq switch on the front panel. Ola, i'm assuming you can footswitch the reverb? If so, it's a version B (1993 and onward)

  • you are god dude.

  • what tuning are you in here?

  • Does the Mark IV or V have that modern gain structure to it? I can hear gain but does it have that presence and attack of a say a Recto or Engl Savage?

  • @DopeSick408 I just traded my recto for a mark iv. It doesnt have that growling angryness the recto had but its just so tight and has way more gain .. a smoother gain. Even when you turn the gain way up on the mark iv it is still tight, but it sustains for days which is awesome. If you wanna hear what the mark v is like listen to BTBAM's new EP and Dream Theater's new song. Mark iv is lamb of god, dream theater's systematic chaos album.

  • @AutoDidactic26 Thanks man! I just tried out the Mark V and it nails the tone i was looking for. Tight, Fluid, Clarity and power this amp is the shit,

  • I..have.. to support.. this.. band!

  • Does your spine hurts after playing some time?

  • Var lånar du stärkarna ifrån???

  • Tuning?

  • Tuning? 6

  • holehh fuckk that was the shit lol groovey riffs man

  • Hey what is your favorite amp out of all these?

And should I get a Mark IV or a AXE FX.

How do you plug the Axe fx into a cab, cause i have a orange 2x12 and I wana use that.

  • @Metallaro51 hey dude, yeah feared is my band.

  • Wow man, I just came across your stuff on here and I have been jamming for 21 years myself. Pretty nice material. Are you still jamming with this particular band and where are you guys from?

  • @fontenotsean1 well since Feared is me generally yeah you could say I'm still doing the band :D. But I'm also playing in a lot more live active bands like Scarpoint and Sorcerer. Thanks for watching dude!

  • 2:04-2:31 that riff makes the hair on the back of my neck stand !! i love that tone and sound !

  • The riff and drums from 2:33 to 3:08 is tough, simple but effective. I think thats why this song has so many plays on my ipod.

  • Finally a good demo of an amp/guitar! I read one of your advices for getting a good tone yesterday and they really helped me out! My amp is a humble Marshall MG30DFX but at last I got it to sound decent for its price, hehe. Not using too much gain and paying attention to the mids were revelations to me o.o... Keep rockin' bro!

  • excellent song! good tone! just the singer could may best :-)

  • va kan Mesa Boogie Mark IV kosta om man köper en begagnad? plus är disten bra i den, tänkte är trött på att använda distpedal :(

  • You should get paid to demo gear. Great ear for tone. I have a few quick questions: What pickups are you using, why use the overdrive pedal and how do you dial it in, and lastly, is it possible to get this tone from a mark V? Thanks!

  • i used to watch this video religiously

  • Sick!!!!

  • Sick!!!!

  • @dontbannme2540 tabs are for the weak and unenlightened.

  • Awsome bro keep up the good work

  • ZOMG, I must say, that Ibanez, is SEHHHHHHXXXYYYYYYYYY! Sweet track man! Metal! Woo!

  • You look like the metal version of Dirk Nowitski

  • @dontbannme2540 don't be trying to be a smart ass with me OK

  • this so beats line 6 on distortion

  • AMIGO... DE DONDE ME DESCARGO LA CANCION!!?

    O DESIME EL NOMBRE...

MUCHAS GRACIAS... ME GUSTO EL VIDEO TOCAS RE BIEN... OJALA TOQUE ASI YO...

  • \m/ I want the lyrics, please \m/

  • Brutal.

  • hey man.....can you tell me in what key are you playing......:)?

  • hey ola, ive never really used an overdrive before, are those ur exact settings on that pedal in the very beginning?? and are u just putting that before the amp between ur guitar and the amp??

  • Not to offend anyone here or the poster, but I notice that in every amp tryout/clip that you do, your tone sounds EXACTLY the same. I'm not really sure what to think. I would love to hear you play all of these amps by themselves, without an already mastered/recorded track behind them.

  • ultimate tone just killer

  • fucking brutal! you rock dude! \m/

  • that's fucking insane, exactly the right tone i want for metal, EPIC

  • Consuming your lives, destroying the skies... love that chorus!

  • damn this rules. i got a line 6 spider 4 and the tone on it is pretty crap. this blows line 6 away.

  • @darkshredder95 lmfao obviously youre comparing a $200-$400 amp to a $2000 amp

  • @darkshredder95 hey, i've got one two, try "Metal red" Middle 10, treble 10, bass 5, gain on 5, (and for really hard sounds put the reblecomp on and level 24% sustain 30%) you will be surprised

  • @darkshredder95 anything sorta blows line 6 away...

  • @darkshredder95 Boogie blow even blows Marshalls away ;) Gives you an idea lol

  • @EldubeG25 the only issue is how expensive mesa boogie are compared to line 6. line 6 is great for when your experimenting with effects and if you get the settings right it actually sounds alright. but, i dunno, it sounds too muffled, you dont really get the clear highs i'm looking for on my RG. also you cant always here the notes ringing out as when the gain is turned up it can sound quite fuzzy sometimes, especially on insane. i'm looking for something clear, and this has that killer tone.

  • @darkshredder95 Fukin' duh

  • Does anyone else notice the vid tags?

  • Now i miss my Mark IV Shorthead / 4x12 Half 'n Half halfstackl ;-( I gave it away after buying my Axe FX Ultra... Not because of really better sound, but because of the feeling playing this hell of an amp :) At least they are in good peoples hands now who use them frequently. Nice playing and sound as always :)

  • Fucking awesome song and tone Ola!

  • I usually comment regarding to recording/tone questions, but all i want to know right now is where can i get your cd? lol

  • @djrewind5 donate on my blog to get the album and ep. olaenglund DOTTTTT com

  • I personally prefer the Mark IV over the new Mark V but that's just me....

  • Hey man, killer vids! im just curious to why you are using a maxion pedal with your rig. i heard it makes your picking louder from some people. i have a Mesa Roaster and im looking for a way to sharpen up the low end to get clearer "chugs". what would you recommend?

  • nice work

    cheers from france

  • this song has been stuck in my head all day. THANKS.

  • Its 23:10 over here and my ears are ringing like hell because i played this song so loud ='D neighbors and parents love me!

  • Dude how many amps do you own, ive seen you demo ever single high gain amp on youtube

  • Hey Ola!

Whats about finding someone that lets you try some Mesa Pres? Like the Formula, Triaxis and all the others. It would be awesome to see them in action and to hear your opinion. I known its hard to find owners with all this preamps, but it would be very interesting.

  • This or a mark v?

  • @gearslut69 mark V, just for the knobs, LOL

  • haha soft du är svensk med, fet låt!

  • I'm pretty sure that if you'd plug your guitar into a piece of concret it would still sound great :/

  • @rippie666 i loled hard at this :D

  • Respond to this video... what cab you use with that mark five

  • @MrGoth777 roadster 2x12?

  • you are just like U2! every song sounds the same!!!!!! that`s why everybody loves you and U2!

  • imo best tone you recorded so far ;)

  • Svensk? Hur mycket kostade ampen? :O

  • i'd like to know your opinion =) wish amp do you prefer between mesa amps and engl amp you got

  • Could you try out a Line6 spider? I love those amps! Naah, just joking... but a Mesa boogie express demo would be nice...Great vid by the way! \m/

  • you sir have a gift to make any amp sound like one huge orgasm.

  • DUDE Scarpoint is cool but your stuff in Feared is so so much better....IMO

  • That tone... made me cry :D it's just too tasty!

  • använde du eq för att få så bra trumljud från superior drummer? eller är kvalitén så bra?

    du är grym

  • @StillxDreamxOfxU ja jag brukar equa i efterhand. tack!

  • That's some sweet tone you have rockin out of the Mark IV, I was wondering what your settings are?

  • @R1ronin settings in the beginning. just paus the video!

  • YOU NEED! TO DO SOME VIDEO DEMOS WITHOUT!! THE BACKING TRACKS! SO EVERYONE CAN HEAR THE AMP!! GO! GO! GO!!!

  • how important is the od808 for this sound? or is it just a little "boost"?

  • @elochai90 a little clean gain boost...

  • what kind of camera did you use for all of your HD recording?

    btw, you are awesome !

  • you're like rhythm god! I'm pretty sure you spend hours practicing but the thing I've always wanted to know is how long have you been playing? Mr. Englund.

  • @godlikecharacta actually I don't practice to much at all. I have my school years to thank that I can play today.

I've played for probably 15 years. Should be better though :/

  • Question: is the EQ on and set like this when you recorded the tracks for the song? i have a Mark V and ive never tried it set like that. is it so you have the right amount of Mid for recording?

btw, your vids are great keep on doing what you're doing its great to hear the amps like this

  • @choirofthedead yes this is how the eq was set for the recording. You have to understand though that a perfect mic'd sound doesn't necessarily sound good in the room. I adjust after what sound I'm getting with the microphone.

    Thanks dude!

  • @fearedse

oh ok i see. i just did some recordings with the eq set a little differently but it didnt sound as nice as you have it. i think ive listened to this song and the song you did for the Framus Cobra vid collectively like 50 times i love these songs. this vid actually really helped me in choosing the mark V before i bought it. after about 2 minutes in i was like man this guy must be from sweden haha! i know my swedish death metal i guess

  • @choirofthedead haha thanks man...

  • @fearedse we just went through that in the studio last week lol. Sounded awesome in room and we just didn't like we got in the mic. But we solved it quick. Using Ola's advice.

  • 2:02 Is the most fucking awesome riff I've ever heard.

  • are you from around here ? swedish

  • @bagera93 Stockholm!

  • @fearedse

trevligt^^ själv är de uppe i umeå :D

  • This is sick dude.

  • Dude I plan on getting a Mark V or Triple Rec, Would I be able to get a sound like yours by replacing the Maxon OD808 with a Tube Screamer?

  • @Gforcelover

maxon OD808 eats ibanez ts9 (especially older versions)

  • That's pretty awesome man! Congrats on your skills & awesome tone!

  • standard or drop tuning?

  • @69stringibanez drop b flat. all strings down two whole steps and the lowest string is down another step.

  • hey man, i dont wana sound like an ignorant douche, but i've played shit like krankensteins and dual, triple rectifiers, all that stuff, and hated the way they sound... how do u make EVERY amp sound killer? it's crazy dude! is it in the mastering or somethin? (again i sound ignorant, i dont know shit about recording) i just dont get it

  • @santabamf666 dude, it's all about what guitar/pickups/picks, how to dial an amp, how to play hard on the strings etc. if you can't make a dual rectifier sound good, there is a problem somewhere.

  • @fearedse yea, i only played the mesa at gutar center for like 10 minutes, didn't really take the time to putts with it, cuz there was a lot of fuckin nobs hahaha.

  • @santabamf666 yeah alla those knobs are scary man, but when you get the logic there's no real magic behind them...

  • @fearedse just played the MKV at guitar center HOLY SHIT talk about djenty

  • @fearedse dude, could you make a review of the ENGL gigmaster? they seem to be interesting, but there is no shop that has one in my region. awesome playing, just like always :D

  • @givemeajackson would love to, but as with you I have a problem getting ahold of one :/

  • @fearedse *damn*

  • @santabamf666 Dual Rectifiers sound pretty awful without an OD pedal in the chain IMHO. The only way I got one to sound good on its own was by turning the gain WAY down and slightly scooping the mids (and I never scoop my mids). However, throw a TS-9 or OD808 in front of it, run it through a Trad or Recto 2x12 like our friend has done here in this video, and its one of the best modern metal tones ever. I always go to the Dual Rectifier+TS-9 through a Marshall 1960AV in the studio.

  • Would you say there is a big difference between the Mesa Roadster and Dual Rectifier cabs?

  • great sound..blows the Axefx away beyond belief

  • Your videos are awesome..i'm into home recording myself and i'm pretty much set with my 6505+ although i'm torn between using an OD to record or just leave it. I love how the OD tightens the sound up and cuts through better but I hate the excess picking noise it creates. Do you recommend recording with a boost or without? Or is it just personal preference?

  • PLEASE!! could you say me the name and the band that are you playing??

    Thank you!

  • @krathya Feared

  • Is it European 220V version or USA +110/220V trafo ?

  • All of your videos have awesome tone and quality and this is a sick song

  • THAT is tone, my dear friends!

  • You are one of the few people I've seen who have actually managed to make the Mark IV sound as aggressive (imo even more juicy , thus better) as the Dual Rectifier. Amazing tone man. I want to ask you though how can you play so loud (Ld Master at 4,5 and output lvl at 2) and not have negative feedback and at the same time not making the mics to clip. I 'd really like to have this question answered. Thanks.

  • Dude, you should make a faq-section somewhere in your blog or something, in order not having to answer stupid questions like: which one is your favorite guitar?

  • @AleksisPelli actually not to bad of an idea! going to think about it.

  • This kicks ass! However, I must sue you for violation of my ears. They are now filled with cum.

  • @eveningninja as long as it isn't my cum, I'm good ;)
