Thanks for the mention jonsilence. Superb clip.... beautifully done. Like the song arrangement itself. If (as I do) you dig this sort of material you might like 'Dark Asteroid' by the Damned - and it's 10 minute psychedelic wig out section. It's a tribute to Syd Barrett too - but don't tell anyone
@TVsMrHappyTalk: Thanks Cap'n, honored you like it. I've just reveled in the mellotron-drenched glories of 'Dark Asteroid' which came as quite a revelation--I had no idea The Damned recorded anything like this. Excellent!
Jonsilence. Thanks for info...yes, I've found the stuff on Amazon & discovered that there's a myspace page called "eggarchive". As to "Wheeler Dealer", I can't really put it up on my current myspace page (myspace.com/thepossessed) because it doesn't fit with the material on there (as you might have gathered, my tastes and compositions are nothing if not eclectic!). However, I suppose I could put it up on a friend's myspace site or create a new site there. Will keep you posted. Cheers.
This is one of the cleverest songs I've ever heard. The way the melody is so "singable" in the midst of strange time signatures and changes is remarkable. And the performance is pretty damn good too. I've even written/recorded an "homage" to Egg myself called "Wheeler Dealer"...in the Egg style. Now there's inspiration for you! BTW, is there a CD of "Polite Force available? Slide show has some really nice shots.
@DRobertsThePossessed: I agree, this song is absolutely brilliant. I've been listening to it since it was released and still find it as wonderful as the first time I heard it, and am even discovering new things about it today decades later. Please post your homage here on YouTube. And if you haven't seen it already, check out Gietek's keyboard cover of 'Newport', also here on YT; its brilliant in its own right. The CD (Egg/The Polite Force), is still available; check Ebay & Amazon. Thanks :)
Bravo!!! I had my heart in my throat throughout the entire video. The melancholy feeling of lost youth has always been evoked in me by this song and the images captured that feeling perfectly. Very touching and yet sad. Alas, those times are gone... never to return again. Wonderful job of marrying music and image.
and i thought it was only goldie looking chain to come outta newport,

Jonsilence. I have uploaded "Wheeler Dealer" on a friend's myspace site. Search for "Vinchez" in the music section.
