  • And Celie sitting there with a broken heart, wanting her own miracle. You never know when it's coming, you just have to know it's already coming. She never expected it,either. That was the true miracle. God never forgot her, He just worked things out His way in His own time.

  • This is the only movie that makes me cry. I only have to see one scene and I am done.. Even if I only see the last 5 minutes, I am in tears. I remember talking to my mom on the phone while she was watching it, and just hearing it over the phone had me crying.

  • when i was younger My mom had this song on cd ( idk why ) &+ every time it came on i thought a man was singing it but then i realized it was Shug Avery ...

  • i was 7 or 8 years old when this movie was in theaters and my mom took me to see it. I CRIED!!!!!!!!! Oh my Lord I cried. And I didn't understand why I was crying at this scene. The tears started when Shug began to sing (that was the holy spirit) and then again when her father embraced her (the power of foregiveness.) I realized that she had been carrying around some serious hurt and at that moment it all went away . All that at age 7 or 8 years old.

  • @stewartduane

Will those tears flow in the new kingdom of God ? Have you booked your place in the book of life ?

  • I can't even count anymore how many times I've seen this since my 1st time as a child, and I STILL am just as moved as I was then, maybe more so. This scene is SOOOOOOooooo powerful on so many different levels. Amen to the message!!!

  • Through God, things are made new, given a new life; maybe that's what happened with this woman- who was shunned as a sinner- when she reconciles with her estranged father. There is something mystical about how the power of forgiveness destroys the scandalous, division of sin; because of Christ, sin has no hold over us, and we are pardoned. "Sinners have soul too"
