  • @MrDopeydee somebody sounds jealous...

  • This was great, thank you for posting.

  • I liked it! Another great album is Jay & Kai + 6! Great musicality and great gestalt!!!

  • I have the video of this performance, and it is outstanding. The sound quality here is awful. There is no such thing as too many trombones, particularly when one of them is Wycliff Gordon, from whom I have had one lesson -- enough for a lifetime.

  • Tooooo much trombones but I like how Wycliffe plays his

  • tooo much trombones but I like how Wycliffe plays his trombone

  • @MrDopeydee rosalino practically started the craze you're referring too did he not?

  • I love trombone but too many of them is just too heavy and not balanced! Awesome but too heavy to listen to! Oh do I miss Carl Fontana and Raymond Katarzynki who kept on playing : Play "behind"! They were and remain the BEST!!

  • oh man that contrabass owns..

  • That many trombones...more like mexico.

  • van rijen in the back... i wonder how he does jazz solos! he's an outstanding classical player but you never hear him jazz around!

  • WHAT A SOUND WYCLIFFE!!!!!!!!

  • That's how u make a horn talk!

  • este tema es impresionante, vaya cracks

  • victrombon......are you serious?

  • these guys are absalutely insane!!

does anyone know the extremely high note tht wycliffe gets at the end

  • @adamcrighton1234 It's a double Bb.

  • @adamcrighton1234 It's a triple Eb, the 2nd highest Eb on the piano.

  • @charley12345678901 correctomundo.

  • @charley12345678901 if you're talking about the note he plays at 4:45, that's an F.

  • @pwntskater I'm talking about the note at 4:21, the triple Eb

  • @charley12345678901 Right, he hits that note very briefly.

  • wycliffe = god.

nightingale = better...!! he totally owns the trombone...i saw him do a gig last year with a classical trombone quintet, he slotted right in and played it cool as you like...then did his own set. ANY bonist taking donna-lee (unaccompanied) at 280-odd bpm deserves undying love! :D

  • thats his favorite shirt

  • He's like Homer Simpson... about 10 shirts that are all the same he rotates between

  • what is a contrabass bone?

  • A contrabass trombone is the only trombone that is larger than a bass trombone. Contrabass bones are usually pitched in F, a 4rth lower than all other trombones that are in Bb. They are essentially a F Tuba with a cylindrical bore that has been unwrapped and shaped like a trombone... they're big...

  • were they looking over at the basses. lol, at one point around 4 minutes they were honkin and both of the trombonists glared over.

  • I get that alot too XD

  • Mark and Wycliffe's parts sound so divine.

  • What's with British trombonists - don't any of them have a website or myspace??? Could somebody help me and suggest who's the "best" guy based in London, I'm planning on taking a few lessons, and I don't know the local players...

    Cheers.

  • wow...this is an amazing video. bones sound killin, i love nightingale's lines, so hip and covers the whole range of the horn.

  • i wanna be the guy on the end playing the contrabass trombone

  • This is truly BRASS HEAVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha...i'm trying to imagine chick corea's reaction if he saw this

  • @EricBowman25 The seat would drop off his Scientologist ass. Oh, yes.

Of course, Rodrigo's reaction would be even more interesting.

  • if im thinking right, this is a messaround with the london brass version of spain! which i love

  • trombone army! oh how i wish there were this many good trombone players in my area to all get together...=(

  • Thats a lot of trombones

  • I know that, worldwide, Wycliffe may be more famous, but i've known and worked with Mark over the years and i can assure you he is as good as or better than anyone that's ever lived. And he never has a bad day. And he's a nice dude. God, i hate him.

  • Man, I would kill to get the chart for this. Absolutely incredible arrangement! My trombone playing buddies and I have been dying to learn Spain.

  • it's awesome - i played it with my school's stage band. i had a pretty long solo... cept was nowhere near as good as this kinda stuff.

i so wanna have a group like this to play in though aye =(

  • wycliffe is definately a blues player, he can sort of bop but he's got his blues/gospel chops complete, i wish he did more latin/bop and slide work like Nightingale

  • This is actually the first time I've heard Mark Nightingale and Wycliffe play together, and wow! It appears that when both players practice hard that experience will rule.. most people can't play better than Wycliffe so it is amazing to see him humbled on stage. I really enjoyed hearing Mark Nightingale play so well, and its nice to see the mutual respect :-D

  • PUNTAS IS GOD

  • si quereis escuchar este tema por un verdadero artista, escuchad a JUAN JOSE PUNTAS. Es como9 u8n profesor para todos estos

  • at like 3:30 listen to the pedals from either the contra or the tuba and look at nightengale's face hes lookin at them with a smile haha

  • Shows you that music and jazz is like a "world" and nobody is "the greatest". Instead a great, great team can be formed where each player is super and the whole is way better than you even imagine on your own.

I just love the interaction between Mark and Wycliffe. Wycliffe doesn't seem to run out of double high Bb power either!

  • what a great setup! contrabass trombone and bass trumpet included!

  • And don't forget the trombonium...

  • Great playing all round. Nice to see they didn't get embroiled in a squeeling contest in the fours.

  • sensacional gordon me parecio novedosa su boquilla alguien sabe que modelo es...????

  • Wycliffe Gordon sounds way better here there in caravan. i mean caravan was great, but here hes so clean and still has that great range and style.

  • i agree completely thats a great point

  • Marks playing is up there with the best ! No high note effects, just excellent jazz content and sound, fluid technique ! Awesome

  • i totally agree dude, i though he sounded just as good as wycliffe if not better, but u have 2 admit wycliffe has style, i mean he knows how 2 pump up a crowd, i know if i was there id probably pee my pants hearing such wonderful improvisation from both of them =]

  • yo i just came from a Gordon show holy shit

  • Great trombone festival , Slide Factory Rotterdam(NL) Mark endorses Michael Rath trombones and mouthpieces.

  • Great festival, slide Factory Rotterdam(NL) Mark endorses Michael Rath trombones and mouhpieces.

  • Mr. Gordon endorses Edwards trombones and Monette mouthpieces.

  • Actually Wycliffe uses a medium bore Yamaha trombone, not Edwards.

  • @charley12345678901 He's playing an Edwards with a Monette in this video. He switched about a year ago. It's such a moot point. A trombone is like a running shoe... Usuain Bolt will still be one of the fastest dudes in the world regardless of what shoes he's wearing, Wynton will still be a bad motherfucker no matter if he's playing a garden hose or a Monette, and Wycliffe will still be a badass regardless of what he's playing.

  • anyone know what kind of mouthpiece wycliffe's playing on?

  • monette custom.
