i hope they tear down the park. keep the hotel and make new housing around the lake. the park is just keeping the housing market down. they should just let those fireman that burned down the ballroom burn the rest of it down lol. if you lived in conneaut lake you would think its a eye sore too.
@360RTjeep Those fireman that burned down the ballroom ?! Excuse me, but your information is not accurate. A high school dropout by the name of Nikolas Pope broke into the ballroom and set it on fire. He's now in jail, hopefully for a very long time. You need to do your research BEFORE posting your stupid comments.
Somebody (with a lot of money) PLEASE donate to help save this historical landmark rollercoaster before it's too late!! We're running out of time!!! :-(
@kennywoodjoe have you guys tried to contact the Roller Coaster Museum. They might not buy it, but may be able to find or send the ride somewhere to be well taken care of. I truley hope this message is not to late rollercoastermuseum org.
The park of my childhood...I was 8 when this clip was taken. I remember the boats back in the creek behind the pony trail, the wild mouse, ALWAYS the blue streak! The kiddie land rides were the best back then. I also loved the fast ferris wheel (it was so noisy!), the paratrooper, the scrambler inside, the devils den, and the ride next to it where you stuck to the walls and the floor fell out...
i went last weekend....was so fun! i talked to this lady who worked there and she said that they need 108-200k to fix the blue streak...and they signed a 7 year contract so they'll be around...they're still getting things going...when i went the left water slide shut down on a guy going down...and he had to walk down the slide to get down ...it shut off on him for some reason
They're still opening everything up, theirs still alot of rides that are not opened yet. Like the bluestreak, which is being refurbished i guess, because of being closed for the recent years. But they have reopened.
That is what I been reading. I still have some family there. It was a tough time for me but I often wish I was back then. More simple in many ways but the net makes things more known and connected. I am of the class of 73 of Seagertown. Mr. Clark Science is still there I believe and not much older than I. It was kind of weird to have a teacher not much older than one is.
I've not much connection with Conneaut. I'm from Youngstown, but when i was about 14 (I'm 18 now) we would stay up in Andover, at the holiday camplands every weekend, and go to Conneaut Lake Park about every other weekend. This park was truely a beautiful place. And i'm glad they're trying to get it back on it's toes. I do hope you get to enjoy it atleast once more. Memories are forever.
When was the last year the Wild Mouse was at the park? I thought it was in the 80's, but I could be wrong. Very, very sad what has happened to the park. I had very nice memories of the place, growing up. Westinghouse Tranformer Division in Sharon PA had it's annual picnics there every August in the 50's, 60's and 70's. I was just a kid then, going with my parents, cousins, and friends. Old home movies will be all that remain for me, plus these old movies on here.
5/7/08 The park was used in the last weeks of April for shooting a scene in the upcoming apocolyptic based movie "The Road" starring Viggo Mortenson and Charlize Theron. Though the now defunct park and burnt ballroom were perfect backdrops, it is a sad final use of a place I remember fondly from my childhood.
WOW! What a great video. I grew up in Meadville, PA, worked at CLP summer of 85-87
those were the best times ever, met so many awesome people that I will never ever forget, we may not keep in touch, but I will always have those memories. I can't believe some burned down the Ballroom, I pray that this park can be saved!! Does anyone remember the Hell Hole? I used to do handstands against the wall before it started up, that was so fun!!
thank you swampfire for the wonderful video I loved the park alot of us from that area grew up in that park rode all those rides sitting here teary eyed just remebering it all i no longer live in the area but the memories will never die thanks to those of you who keep them going....
The Wild Mouse was the best! I couldn`t believe it when they sold it. I think that was due to financial problems, which was the beginning of the end. So sad.
More and more classic parks are closing each year. It makes me sick when I hear of a perfectly good coaster torn down to make way for a condo development. Amusement parks aren't necessarily for entertaining people anymore. Most companies just operate them for money. Sad, sad, sad. :(
Thanks so much for this video. Went to Conneaut. with my parents as a kid, on dates with my late wife in the 60s and took our kids and grandkids. I now live in Austin Texas and most likely will never see that wonderful park again.
First time I rode the Blue Streak I swore I crushed the handlebar I was holding on sooo tight. What a dynamic coaster. The VERY BEST. Thank You Conneaut.
I've been to CLP ever since I was a kid in the 70's & I just wanted to thank whoever made this video this was when the place really rocked!! I loved Hell Hole & The Wild Mouse as well as the Ultimate Trip!
That Wild Mouse looks awesome. Too bad it was gone by the time I went there. Also, the Blue Streak was running the PTC train when I went. Long live CLP? Fingers crossed, kids.
1990! damn , those were the days. cool video. always there in mid/late 80's as a kid. looking for hell hole documentation (pictures video) ...good luck c.l.p
I went on that thing one time and it went too fast. You literally couldn't move or breathe. It was a little scary. I'd ridden it before and usually it went too slow and you would sink to the bottom and have to shuffle your way back up as the floor came back up.
i am so happy that the blue streak is now opened! no longer is the park SBNO its Operating!

I been through Youngstown as my son's dad was from Alliance.
I know it is pretty and I miss it as well. As I am just south of Buffalo. A town called Evans. Parly rural and suburban.
You are right about memories.

I remember going every year when the school would take us. It was the only time I got to go to a park .
On the last day of school the school would buy us all an ice cream cone in Seagertown.
I rode the blue streak once. Never rode a roller coaster again. My cousin talked me into it. The Wild Mouse was more to my liking.
Thinking of moving back there. I'm in Derby, NY.
Sad, parks are often in trouble these days.

Is the Devil's Den still running? Is the park even going to be open in 2009?

The park will open, but unfortunately the Blue Streak will remain closed for refurbishment (it has sat dormant for two summers).
