I don´t really know what upsets me more...The stupid bystanders that walk by as if nothing happened...or the morons with their cameras watching the puny lcd screen instead of enjoying the real thing...
@FELIPELOtoTAS People walked by when Joshua Bell was playing in a subway ... I liked that a little girl in pink looked like she wanted to listen. A few people stopped, some of them young. Maybe a couple of them go to opera ... hopefully.
This was in Austin, Texas. The milling around of people and those that continued to do their shopping embarrass me. They show that there is a serious lack of culture in this city, the most liberal city in Texas. God help us.
@TheTexn That's why Americas in the shape it's in. I bet if it was a stupid football player the would have been on their knees in line.God help this country.
Same thing happened when Gene Weingarten of the Washington Post got Joshua Bell to pose as a rush-hour busker in the Metro. Bell was recognized as more than just your average busker by exactly one passerby, and netted a few bucks. (Weingarten landed a Pulitzer.)
How come I am NEVER that lucky to be around these places?!?! And what's WRONG with these people who just pass by this fantastic performance? I don't understand....
How fun is this! These kind of things need to happen more often. A great way to get opera out to people who would never think to explore it otherwise.
