hey i'm trying to upload a video i made on sony to youtube but it says something about not being able to convert the video file, can you help me please?
@xLCTVx To render HD videos, you need Movie Studio Platinum, Movie Studio HD, or Vegas Pro. If you are seeing the 'template is invalid' message, it means you have the basic version of Movie Studio. Sony is currently offering an update to Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 for $34.
@PSPGlover Check out my '101 Tips & Tricks with Sony Movie Studio' DVD at Amazon. In that I show how to make several different intros for videos and DVDs.
Excellent tutorial, thank you. Question: Why do you reduce the horizontal resolution from 720 to 640? Why not keep all of the 720 pixels and use 405 horizontal, giving the same 1.777 ratio? Or use 720 x 360 for 2:1 widescreen. Are you not cutting out useful pixels when you use 640?
very helpful. my friends and i have started a production company called Redlightning Entertainment, you can check out our channel, but we use Sony Vegas and are always experimenting with video effects and what not. I am probably going to purchase your DVD.
Nice tutorial, it's really easy to follow! Do you use Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Edition 9 for all your video editing? Would be great to hear your feedback
Resolution of your computer, I notice your fonts are large and I have problems seeing mine I want to know your resolution and how to get the fonts large like that.
nice bill i used alot of your tutorials...but i knew this already but still well detailed tutorial i do this another way by right clicking the video on the timeline and hit properties and change it there and if there is little black bars i use the track motion to fix it oh also for all of you that have 4:3 ratio vids(not wide screen) already on youtube put this in your tags to convert it automatically yt:stretch=16:9
THANKS! u helped a lot <3

Thanks Bill! I love your tutorials, so simple, yet so helpful! I've learned half the stuff I know about Vegas so far from your videos. Thank you!

Bill do you use anything to compress videos? When I render the files come out HUGE and take forever to upload =) Thanks great videos!
KrazyKingVideos 2 years ago
If you render HD videos, the files will be large. If you render using the settings above, the file size will be much smaller

Which version of Vegas Pro are you running? Any reasons why you like Platinum Edition better?
Sonysoftwareofficial 2 years ago
I have Vegas Pro 5,6,7 & 8, as well as Movie Studio 6,7,8 & 9 Platinum
Vegas Pro has more features, but for most of my productions, Sony Movie Studio has all I need.

Bill what's your screen resolution?

Which resolution are you referring to? Windows?
Camtasia?
Camcorder video?

Resolution of your computer, I notice your fonts are large and I have problems seeing mine I want to know your resolution and how to get the fonts large like that.
TechTutorialsRUs 2 years ago
I've set windows to display large fonts - which is a good setting when you record screen capture movies.
To do this, right click on your desktop, select 'properties', select 'appearance', set font size to 'large'. Then click 'ok'

Be sure to choose 'cbr' in the audio an video settings. If you fail to do that, you can't change the bit rate settings.
