  • hey im a freshman doing football and all my lifts are really good for a freshman except my squat. i dont know what it is but i just cant squat, any tips?

  • @g3rmannhound i used to have the same problem just work on the correct form with light weights and work the other muscles in your legs with other workouts eventualy after about a week or two of that you should see at least a 10 - 20 pound increase then just keep working the legs

  • Nice squat. It just goes to show that even people with an awkward build can be quite strong. This guy simply doesn't have the look of physical strength that most powerlifters portray. Regardless, there was good depth on that unlike most football lifting rooms I walk into.

  • Very strong fellow, but the extreme high bar position and rapid descent are not part of safe form. Go down as fast as you can, but in control, to use the stretch reflex. Stance is probably wide enough to warrant more of a low-bar stance, which will make it easier to resist back rounding.

    Still stronger than me though, by a wide margin. I'll never be able to do that weight, if I did I would be doing about 50 lbs. more than the world record for 148 lbs.

  • form tends to go out the window in heavy exercises, but he is lifting big weights, good lift and effort

  • @tredman99 You have to maintain a semblance of form. Yeah, your lower back may round a little or your chest may drop some, but being bent over into a good morning and the bar on your neck isn't acceptable even with a max.

  • @tredman99 Bad form will eventually give you a very problematic injury, like a disc herniation or a ruined knee. The back herniation is more likely though with the round back thing going on. Whoever their strength coach is needs to take that guy aside and teach him correct form before he is hurt.

  • this guy may improve a lot if he works on the technique. Don't place the bar just below your neck, you must place it between the traps and rear delts. It will allow you to hold the weight in a lower position, giving you more stability and confidence during the whole movement. Develop this technique and you will see what I´m talking about.
