  • Comment removed

  • @DavidRourke15 Rush Limbaugh came in cause he saw rush and thought it was about him.....

  • I saw this in concert and the background screen was cool. A great message in the song against imperialism.

  • The RnR HoF will be a joke until Rush is inducted!

  • MARAVILHA ESSES CARAS SAO NOTA 10

    RUSH POWERBAND

  • unfurls a flag for nola june 10 2011

the best food the best people the best beer

    the best stick request

  • seen 5 shows in last 9 months...think i might see 2 more ...cant get enuff

  • Was 1 complete fucking moron looking for some attention?

  • ***Note to self, see these dudes play this year !!

Hey folks , these guys ain't getting any younger, and this ain't a Stones program where you can cruise through these tunes at 80 years old

    A bit more involved.

    ,

  • WOW they really poured it out on this take, Wooooo!

  • Fantastic, one of the best bands ever... so looking forward to seeing them play the entirety of 'Moving Pictures' in their upcoming European tour come May this year.

    RUSH RULEZZZ!!!!

  • Great song!! "We don't feed the peopel but we feed the machines" Brilliant and it relates today more than ever in the year 2011..

  • I can see that Alex is clearly singing along, but his mike is seemingly disabled...

  • Dream Theater is better.

  • @gotmonkeyfinger Dream Theater is better at sucking. There I finished your sentence for you.

  • @RushRules4 lol, I was totally joking, love your reply, But I have better ones being that my son always says that TD is better I had some time to think about it. just acouple..... Portnoy should have learned just one more thing from Niel, loyalty to your band. how do you try to sound as good as the 3 guys from Rush?, with 5 guys. DT are great but Rush are the greatest band the world has ever seen. the musicianship, song wrighting, sound,,,the perfect storm in music. Rush for ever!!!

  • @gotmonkeyfinger That's a lot better comment. I really don't like Dream Theater that much but they aren't a bad band.

  • @RushRules4 you should check out Dream theater "black clouds and silver linings" they take so much from Rush, its insane. DT kind of fill in the space for me when I have the need for new Rush like music. they are very talented but not the original and they have a little Heaver edge. if it were up to me Rush would come out with 3 new records a year. ill be seeing Rush in MSG and any other venue in the NYC/NJ area. cant wait! Rock on my Rush Brother!!!!!!

  • I love to listen to this song while sitting atop Mt. Lafayette and looking over the Pemigewasset Wilderness. It must have been great yet demanding to produce such a production quality sound on tour.

  • 3:07 scared me lol

Rush is definitely the best band in the world. It's awesome how they have different phases. Like 70s was kinda heavy rock, 80s were more keyboard oriented and the late 90s till now are back in the kinda heavy thing again. That's amazing. And they're all canadian! Canada FTW!!!!! I only wish geddy still had his original voice

  • Insane musicianship. Ridiculous.

  • "Dont feed the People, but we feed the machines..........They shoot!! Without Fear ....In the name of a piece of dirt...For a change of Accent..or the colour of your shirt.....Better the pride that resides...In a citizen of the World!! Than the Pride that Divides..When a colourful Rag is unfurled...

  • u hear geddy's scream in the chorus, it sound so "man".

  • Quite possiblt the World's Greatest Band...ever!

  • 2:12 Alex demonstrates LOL

  • Rush, possibly the most original band out there.

  • very pink floydish w/ Alex around :45 secs in

  • 3:08

  • rush are great musicians. great sounds!

  • love lifesons intro!!! unsurpassed...

  • They shoot without shame

In the name of a piece of dirt

    For a change of accent

Or the colour of your shirt

    Better the pride that resides

In a citizen of the world

    Than the pride that divides

When a colourful rag is unfurled

  • Did you split the audio onto different tracks; because the vocals seem really separated and up front from everything else? Did you split it onto a soundboard?

  • RUSH! Always in the face with a smile!

Thank you so much, RUSH! Signals, Hemishperes, Permanent Waves, Moving Pictures...

  • What can you say, the best band in the prime of life. Most skilled ever.

  • they shoot without shame

  • That bass in the chorus: awesome. I love that twangy, trebly 80s bass sound.

  • @MisterDensity It sounds great, a lot of bassists in the 80s had that sound, but just so you know, that's not the chorus. It's the pre-chorus. The chorus of this song is when he says "The whole wide world..."

  • @MisterDensity power winows as a 43 year old is truly the second best rush album...it brings me so back to the 80s and my youth...hemispehres and 2112 unreal...but PW gets the edge due to timeline...i wanna go back gain and be 17.......crying....wahhhhhhhh

  • @MisterDensity thats a Wal bass for ya, impecable tone

  • When you appreciate and enjoy Rush, no matter how many other bands you like as well, and spend time ( days or years ) listening to them, the uniqueness of this great band is always printed in your cells...Once you listen to them again You always vibrate like the first time they got you by surprise!...Timeless impact!

  • So true! I have been seriously listening to Ruch only for a year, but I already know they will be one of me top favourite bands forever.

  • Wow, how right you are!

  • Yeah that actually happens to me. RUSH FTW

  • lol at 3:08

  • Rush & MJ is rare combo but its mine

  • fucking awesome

  • Power Windows > Moving Pictures

    Just my opinion

  • best song off power windows.

  • hey!...

  • Dude i know...ive been seeing rush signals since signals

  • When Rush hangs it up for good (they are getting closer to 60 years old, you know), I won't be able to deal with it!

  • I don`t want think to Rush finish to play....my heart caputttt

  • I hate it how they don't put all the songs on the dvd

  • this is music..simply

  • PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GODLY BASSLINE

  • what brand guitar is that? anyone know?

  • Signature guitars. Like Paul Reed Smith, a smaller manufactuer. I'm not sure they still make Signature guitars. Geddy was into Wal basses at the time too.

  • The lyric compares two phenomenon and judges one to be "better" than another. So therefore the lyric is not "a simple perception of the obvious truth".

What is the "truth" that you're talking about? I don't see it articulated in your comment...all truth is self evident....u either get it or you dont.....truth can be measured...it can be weighed..

  • killer lyrics....simply the TRUTH nothing more...typical rush....

  • "better the pride that resides.. in a citizen of the world... than the pride that divides when a colorful rag is unfurled".

It's hard to believe Neil would forward such a Marxian interpretation of the nation-state.

I love Rush lyrics, but that one seems in conflict with modernity.

  • better the pride that resides.. in a citizen of the world... than the pride that divides when a colorful rag is unfurled".

its a simple perception of the obvious truth....think about it

  • Does anyone else get an odd tropical vibe from the guitar in this? Not so much in this live version but more so in the studio version.

  • Gifted musicians.

  • wal bass, huh?

    neato

interesting sound, like nothing else i can think of besides fender jazz but not really..anyone know comparisons to wal?

  • the bass in this song is INTENSE

  • This was the first rush song i ever heard going back 6 years now. My mate handed me power windows for the car journey and put side B in first. Own all the albums ever released and its been one hell of a journey. A truly remarkable band who have made my life better for their existence. Praise you!

(p.s. the main kick-ass guitar riff was way too quiet both times...all i got second time was geddy's short stabbing orchestral hits ..lol)

  • i also have many many rush albums.power windows is my favorite

  • my favorite rush album was always permanent waves but power windows is still awsome

  • this son gives me major goosebumps

  • song*

  • The beginning of this song always reminds me of the music in the Egyptian pyramid level on Mario 64

  • lol same!!

  • Koji Kondo (guy who created Mario 64 soundtrack) was probably inspired by this song. Rush has a HUGE fan base in Japan.

  • i could deffinately see that. it has that kinda feel to it, ya know?

  • "they shoot without shame for the name of a piece of dirt" how true to descibe countries to day

  • ya better beer no beer better then canadian beer lol

  • Doesn't get any better than this

  • I love how the only time Geddy doesn't say "Hey" is when he says it in the studio version.

  • Lol. Thats a good point. Never noticed that.

  • I want a Wal bass...

  • I always wanted a Wal bass, now I have to be content with a Fender Jazz Geddy Lee signature bass. Try it, you'll love it!!

  • Didn't the maker pass away?

Geddy's Best work was on the Rickenbacker and the Wal.

  • FYI: This concert was filmed in the late 80's in the land of heavy metal: Birmingham, England. This crowd is used to hard rock bands like Canada's greatest: Rush.

  • nothing

i meant to respond to a comment, not make a new one

  • I was at this concert when they recorded this... It was an amazing show!

  • Yeah wasn't looking too close at the text, was trying to finish up on computer quickly. Oh well. Sorry, man!

  • I don't think it was over-dubbed Mrantho. They're really good at reproducing their songs live. Remember they are running sequences on midi'd synths, which are likely the very same sequences and synths we hear on the album.

  • I like this song, specially the keyboards and the guittar that sounds like a foreign coutry. But i like more emotion detector, it is the best song in the album.

  • How cool would it be if they brought this song back!

  • I agree , it would be pretty sweet to see it live

  • O melhor som......

  • Geddy looks cross-eyed at 2:23 XD

  • i love this song!

  • What a song!

  • wow it's been that long since "I asked the man who stood at the gate of the year....give me a light so that i can tread into the darkness" , congrats on the malignant Grammy nomination and the 2008 tour for narcissistics.

  • Rush's best song ever

  • One of my absolute favorites. The soundscaping in this song is fuckin amazing.
