Watching somebody playing this shows how melodic, musical and imaginative the Edge is..jumping between fretted notes, open drones and harmonics seemlessly.
With the delay driving an AC30 the sound is dramatic and huge.
Great performance from you as usual. This earlier stuff by The Edge is sometimes harder than the best known tracks from the mid 80's and so on. This song and 11 O'clock Tick Tock are specially hard to play because of this Edge-invented chords, harmonics and solo. You need to have a lot of skill to nail it the way you do. Congratulations!!!
I am still blown away so many days later. You have to do Fire and A Day Without Me. You'd probably cause me to get a guitar again. And please also do I Threw a Brick Through a Window and even Rejoice.
Unbelievable! This is why U2 took America by storm. I bet you love the early stuff that didn't make playlists like Fire, With a Shout, I Threw a Brick, A Day Without Me. These all had that biting guitar. And many more. Thanks for a great U2 perfomance.
wow that's just amazing.. every U2 song you play sounds perfect. I'm a U2 fan 2 ! Can you play 'A day without me' too ? I think it's the best song of the Boy album (and 11 o'clock tick tock)
WOW! dude. I didn't realize that edge could be doing so much with chords. He must really utilize every component of the guitar, pedals, and amp to his advantage. He wastes nothing. That's pretty smart of him and you for figuring it out. thanks. This makes me think and gives me ideas. Just wish your finger placement or chords were more clear.
The edge didn't do muck physical labor playing but you can tell a great mind was behind it and that he has a GREAT ear.He made use of simple things used by everybody else but arranged *uniquely* in a way that set him apart from every guitar player before him...all using the same things used by everybody else except it comes out uniquely Dave Evans like his own.*That's* rare. His playing is almost like a distinct human being, with it's own personality.
I couldn't agree with you more. If you look at my 1st Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own video, I put that I'm just a copy cat and that I have the easy part.
Hey Sherm911, your vids are most entertaining. Also, I use them as a reference when I need to learn U2 songs for my cover band. Nice playing, nice tone, keep up the good work buddy!
I haven't been here for a year, and you know it sounds even better. This is the Edge.

Wow, the guitar from 2:57 on is just incredible. It doesn't sound possible to have anything like that come through dingy laptop speakers!

Your tone for this one and Out of Control is brilliant...I can see how the Explorer can change everything.
Are you using amp simulation or an actual AC30?
