2 Corinthians 9: vers.7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; "not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver. This means you can give to; and what ever you want; aka purposeth in ur heart.
Did you know that tithing is defined as a religious tax? Friends, God is not collecting taxes off His people. It is a manipulative church or pastor that is using fear to extract a 10% religious tax from your pocket.
If we really had to sow money to receive God's blessings, it wouldn't be called "grace" anymore because it is in the fact that it took everything we deserved (punishment for sin) and placed it on Jesus and that it FREELY gave us everything which we didn't deserve, namely forgiveness, finances, salvation, healing, etc. So teaching people that they need to tithe first in order for God to bless them, is essentially throwing God's free gift back into His face and opting to buy it from Him instead.
The tithe was not weekly, it wasn't money. It was yearly and the only time money was involved is when the person lived out side of israel , the they would bring money with them to buy the things they needed for the tithes. This is I picked up in studying you can check for your selves.
What happened to the Holy Spirit? He is supposed to lead and guide our lives. And He can tell us how to give, where to give and to whom to give. These tithing teachers are ignoring the power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers because they don't teach Him to their followers. Why, because they don't trust His leadership themselves and they certainly are not going to allow Him to lead their followers to give as He leads.
Exodus Chapter 20:Vers.17 the tenth commandment: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
The church is not required to tithe, according to Malachi God is speaking to the nation of Israel. Paul taught let every man give as he purpose in his own heart, God loves a cheerful giver. Tithes according to scripture is never referred as money. It was always agricultural and stock. There is no Levite priesthood, therefore the tithes are obsolete.
Personally, I think that some preachers say "tithe" with the express purpose of creating condemnation. It is said that the just shall live by faith. I think that a preacher should live by faith as well. He should trust God and that HE (God) will provide. I believe that the new covenant says "give". Trust the Holy Spirit to move on people without the effort of a man (preacher). A lot of preacher do not want to chance it to live by faith in the move of the Spirit on people.

It's funny how churches extract their finances from their attendees but expect the people to use their faith to get theirs from God.
