I would love to learn dutch if I go to study there :) ... I like it when you HAVE TO SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OTHERWISE YOU DIE...that's the best way to master a language, to practice everyday....

@elizabnet3245 in the Netherlands you definitely don't have to speak the language to survive. There really is no motivation for English speakers to learn Dutch here because everyone speaks English

hi, i dont recommend it for international students who are not intended to learn dutch, because there is not a real enlish speaking environment, servants in the school cafe and restaurant keep talking dutch even if they know that u are english speaking and all activities and school newspapers are in dutch, no chance for new dutch learner or english programme student to understand. also the service outside the school sucks but some dutch are very friendly and open minded, depends on the weather !

@ladivapetek Listen, man, if you want to speak only English go to an English-speaking country. Dutch is the only official language in the Netherlands. What did you expect? "Hmmm, I think I'll go to The Hague so I can speak some English!" Brilliant, man. The video itself says "French and German are also spoken here", because these are their neighboring linguistic communities. Do some research, mate. By the way, when did speaking English become an obligation of Dutch cafeteria workers?

If The Hague University says we offer you an English Environment in the school then they should!

All the programmes are in English and this school gets from everywhere students!

Another thing is that Chinese have to pay for everything more , like housing or renting ...... Before criticisizing my comments, try to understand others problems that they had to face! Your service sucks, even if they speak English or Dutch or German!

@ladivapetek I want to clarify that I am not Dutch and I don't work for this university, you're assuming too much here. That said, you did not complain about their academic programs, but about the fact that some cafeteria workers do not speak English and that the university's newspaper is not in English (big sin!). For you to assume that this is negative is simply surprising to me. I didn't mean to be rude, but I think that certain "demands" border on cultural disrespect/ignorance.

and once again i am telling to everyone who will come from overseas to study in holland; i did it and faced many problems.U will get every important letter in dutch to your home, people will not care if u do not speak dutch, some even will not help you as an english speaker. the service here is shit and dutch are cold people! dont live out what i did!!!!!!!!

It's a worthwhile experience to get to know yourself, to challenge yourself in a completely different environment and perceive the greater picture on the world. However; I would like to work elsewhere

@ladivapetek Let me add that you sound like the classical cultural imperialist. "Everybody has to speak English so that I don't have to learn other languages"... (You mention you are "English speaking", although I'm not clear on whether English is your first language.) In any case, learn to love the difference and don't be so narrowminded! You do observe that "some [D]utch are very friendly and open minded". Unlike you, one might add. Think about what you wrote, it doesn't make much sense.
