your first sentence is epic. you talk about CP being the only way to keep your nation safe. not only is the US the only western nation of the first world which still practices CP, it is also the unsafest nation of all in the first world. so you cant keep your nation safe, unless you make it safe first. and CP doesnt seem the way to go, obviously.
Of course the US has the highest crime because we have the highest number of poor and poverty rate. It has nothing to do with having or not having CP, Japan and Singapore use the death penalty, and their in the 1st world not to mention their crime rate is much better than Europe that doesn't use CP. So don't go assuming tha CP causes increases in crime becuase that is flat out wrong and abolishing it obviously is not the way to go.
These 'criminals' you speak of are victims themselves. Many have been abused and neglected and come from very disturbing backgrounds. Society creates these 'criminals' then murders them in the name of the law. The mind boggles how anyone can support capital punishment.
Yes, only Belarus is left to ban death penalty from our continent. Europe is small, no space left for this brutal relict.
In the past we practised torture, hanging, beheading, wheeling, burning alive, drowning, corporal punishment, answered brutality with brutality. It didn`t work, even if we left them on the gallows to rot in public. Crime kept on during all those centuries.
You`re right, European Union sucks on many things, but this is really great!
The death penalty has nothing to do with crime rate, it's the number of poor, poverty, and drug levels that do. Japan and Singapore use CP and their crime rate is way better than that of Europe. Besides, you say its inhumane but whats inhumane is what these murderers do, so stop giving them a slap on the wrist and put them in their place.
kill to save money = greed. Greed is a basic motive. like revenge. The state commits a heinos murder too and claims this as justice. Says it makes a country saver.
Capital punishment was and will never work as a deterrant. It only gives a questionable example that killing people is not always wrong and brutalizes society.
Besides, I`m feeling very save in my country which has abolished death penalty for over 60 years now. Every state should abolish it ; )
@MsKillerMieze Very good points! I'm from europe and after the horrors of WW2 the fledgling European Union stated that ever member nation abolish the death penalty, that's now a requirement of joining and one of the few things i'm proud of and also feel safe about too!
eye for an eye the oldest and still the best justice there is as even in jail people can still do harm
