  • How do you pack your base plate and wind screen?

  • The windscreen wraps around the inside of the cookpot. The base plate is kind of tricky to pack, I usally put it in the back of my pack where the hydration bladder would normally go.

  • next time dont use a dark background

  • It's on my list of things to change next time around.

  • So how long would that thing burn for before running out of fuel? What size is that canister?

  • The can in the video is a 4oz, I believe they also come in eight oz and possibly 6oz but I'm not sure about the 6. I'm not sure how long they last but I've heard people can get 1.5-2 wks out of a 4oz can without running out. I haven't been out enough times to even use up a 4 oz can yet so I couldn't tell you.

  • 5 Star my friend!!!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Nice system, thanks for posting.

    5/5

  • thanks

  • Try the MSR Windpro before you make any decisions on what canister stove to buy. They are awesome.

  • I've heard they were good but I bought the Brunton Raptor and I'm pretty happy with how its working out.

  • FOCUS DAMMIT!!! Jk, Between the pocket rocket, Jet boil, this stove, the Crux, whisperlite, Dragonfly, Super fly, COleman exponent, and the Reactor, Which one offers the best value for the money. Please message or comment.

  • To be honest, I'm not very well versed in stoves, I just did some basic research before buyng mind. With that in mind, my opinion is that the pocket rocket seems u less sturdy, the jetboil limits you to only using jetboil cups and cook pots unless you buy an adaptor. The Crux seems great and was my second choice, I just went with the cheaper of the two. The reactor seems a little bulky for my tastes but I hear they work amazingly well and are pretty efficient. I don't know about the rest.

  • I'd say the Raptor.

  • Yes great video and windscreen design

  • Thanks, sorry for the delayed reply.

  • Great idea for a windscreen.

  • Thanks, the cheaper the better! The windscreen and base plate probably cost around $3.

  • I carry a Feather Fire alcohol stove, I have a heat reflector which I made from a small pie pan. I also have a Primus canister stove that I plan on building the same setup you have here. Thanks for the idea!

  • I had never heard of the feather fire, that looks like a great stove. I'm glad you like the windscreen/base plate enough to make one yourself. Good luck.
