  • its a copy of zelda a link 2 the past only with bad music! nice job turbografx!

  • i think there should have been more 'games like zelda' such as this one because it adds a little flavor to the genre.. i mean, do u really want to play as link ALL THE TIME?

  • @D1333x Totally! all the Zelda wannabes for NES were total crap with no imagination, and the one Sega Master System game I played the was Zelda-Style was called Golvelius (sp?) and was just kinda weird and creepy and not that fun. Neutopia, however, had a really nice ultra-cartoony vibe to it and was just really fun to play and the graphics and sound were so well executed! This game was a really good bridge between Zelda and A Link To The Past.

  • I like the graphics and play style of this game, it's also comparable to Final Fantasy 1 and 2. Thanks for the great game footage, I plan to download this to my psp from the playstation store.

  • who cares a game is a game and if its good becuase it took elements forma game that is amazing than whats the problem? its still different in ways.

  • Glad I looked this up first. Was gonna buy it for my psp, now I think I'll pass. Still got some other stuff I need to play on it. And stuff coming out for 3DS.

  • I still got this for my turbo grafx 16

  • I wish Kojima would get to make a new Neutopia game with the MGS4 engine... ! I can dream, right? Buying this tonight on PSN FOR SURE! even though I still have the HuCard for all my TG-16 games. :)

  • Looks very cool.

  • Anyone here calling this game a Zelda clone isn't old enough to make such remarks. I'm sorry. Hate to lay the facts out there. It was a phenominal RPG. As was the original Zelda, but you can't compare it with that. You'de have to compare it with a 16 bit console one like for instance... A Link to the Past. I.E. Zelda 3, the best Zelda.. ever.

  • hell zelda is just a clone of adventure for the 2600

  • just a clone of zelda...

  • DD2225, Very right! I probably still have that magazine, thanks for the reminder on Military Madness, another testament on the Turbo's quality library.

  • The PC Engine/Turbo Duo is probably the most underrated console ever. The line-up that this system has is nothing short of legendary, Air Zonk, Ninja Spirit, Castlevania Chi no Rondo, SF, Shinobi, Alien Crush, Splatterhouse, including the best shooters of all time, Y's book 1&2. It has a line-up of Hu-Card gems, another on CD-rom, then Super CD-ROM2, and finally it's Arcade only line.

  • @gamecollect101

Years ago Electronic Gaming Monthly did a top 100 games of all time, and a surprising number of them were from the TurboGrafx 16.

And you forgot to mention Military Madness, the father to Advance Wars.

  • Turbo grafx was actually an 8-bit system. Don't let the 16 in Turbografx fool you, that was only an advertising strategy for NEC, nonetheless it was actually competing with the Super NES and Sega Genesis, two major players that were truly 16-bit. Actually speaks volumes of how underrated the Turbo really was, just lacked the strong 3rd party support that Nintendo and Sega both had.

  • I never even liked this game, or any of the Zelda games very much. I loved this music, though!

  • yes, zelda clone, and yes, FREAKING FUN GAME,

  • its easier than zelda or link, and more fun, looks better, cooler weapons

  • Man why did it take them so long to start making Zelda clones again (3D Dot Game Heroes on PS3)?

It's like they just stopped since about 1995, and with Nintendo's own low quality actual Zelda games these days, we finally need this stuff.

  • Yes it was a complete Zelda clone, but I remember playing through to the end. They did a good job with it at least. Haven't heard that song in AGES... lol

  • "Hey youz guyez dis look like zeldar!!!". Seriously just shut the fuck up. This is Neutopia, not Zelda.

Everyone knows how much these games have in common so just, shut...the...fuck...up.

  • Lol. Man you are a douche.

You should devote some of the energy you use getting mad about video games to something more productive.

  • My life is plenty productive. I don't see how I'm a douche when you are the one calling complete strangers that you don't know anything about, a douche.

  • Theres even a character in this game named Goron. haha Lets get real 3rd party Turbo system

  • How can a console be 3rd party?

  • DUDE this game was fun, and yes it was zelda for the turbografx

  • Looks like a pretty blatant Zelda clone. Although, it does look rather fun.

  • Box says "Role-Playing" so I figure Hudson knows what their own game is. So it's an RPG to me.

  • The box for Halo 3 said, "Unparalleled Experience," and that game was a piece of shit. Game companies aren't always right.

  • Holktube is right and of course they will fucking lie, they depend on you buying their shitty game so that they can keep their jobs and make more shitty games.

  • This isn't an RPG.

  • It's an action RPG like zelda... so ya, It's still a RPG.

  • lol Zelda is a action/adventure game, not a RPG

  • You never heard of a sub-genre?

  • You can go to Australia where Emus are fairly prevalent. They're a mean bird, so you have to be careful. They'll kick the crap out of you if you're not watching.

  • where can i get this emu now

  • i got this and part 2 along with my pc engine console, classic!

  • i have a complaint about this game. i hate the collision detection.

  • I fond one bug that could pist off a little bit: Collision detection... But, for it time, I won't be hard one it: Excellent... And Zelda could love it.

  • ashamed to say, i actually played this before zelda when i was a kid. you couldn't get me off it!

  • Ha! I also played this before Zelda, in the early 90s, but I knew enough about Zelda to know this was a clone. Played Zelda a bit later and loved that one too, great games.

  • A excellent clone of Zelda!

  • I sorta wish the last boss had two forms.

  • This game reminds me a little of the Nes Legend of Zelda, But not much. This game was really fun. I beat it today, last boss was alittle disappointing although he was kick my ass. But damn, Turbo Grafx 16 was a 8 bit system yet its games have the graphix of SNES. Its games were 16 bit. Funny that this systems game are as small as a credit card.

  • Why does that song remind me of "Somewhere over the Rainbow"? Seriously, the similarities are uncanny.

  • It's a ripoff of Zelda but I really liked it! I've bought Neutopia 2 on ebay and I can't wait to play it!

  • I bought the game in 1993 and it took me months to beat it (I was 13 at the time). Definately an awesome game, you'll really like it.

  • this game is cool got it on the wii liked it better than zelda 1

  • i actually prefer this game and its sequel to link to the past. Mostly because all these games have an original plot, where as LoZLtP has is essentially the same game as ocarina of time/ twilight princess.

  • god i loved this game, best zelda clone ever

  • it looks worth buying on the virtual console. Should i pay the 6.99 for it?

  • Next time I get points, I might download this.

  • wow this is almost exactly like the legend of zelda!

  • Neutopia is to Zelda as Saints Row is to Grand Theft Auto

  • That's probably the best comparison in the whole world. I agree with you.

  • yea this looks like a more impressive rip-off of zelda. but i already zelda on vc so i think i'll pass on it. looks cool though.

  • I'm getting this one on the VC Wii. Finally, a good game of TG-16. I hope Part 2 will come in the future.

  • This game comes out on Virtual Console in less than 4 hours. =)

  • i think im gonna pick this up for my Wii's virtual Console

  • The music sounds nowhere as good as Zelda.

  • Agreed 1000 percent, I don't know what that guy is talking about.

  • You could buy a much better game for 100 points less.

  • If you're talking about the original Zelda, try again. Not only is Neutopia MUCH better in terms of playability and layout, but it's also visually and musically better as well. This is the game Zelda SHOULD have been.

  • Well, seeing as how the original Legend of Zelda game came out for the NES (an 8-bit system) in 1986, and Neutopia came out in 1990 for a 16-bit system, you can't really blame Nintendo for this being "the game Zelda SHOULD have been". Especially since Zelda paved the way for this game (and others like it), and is still going strong to this day.

  • Oh you're dead on. I agree 100%. I was just trying to describe the game and how it plays. There will never be another original Legend of Zelda, but this is an amazing play on the same type of game Nintendo originally created.

  • and the TurboGrafx-16 isn't really a 16-bit system....just a souped up 8-bit one...

  • Ok, THAT is just weird...

  • @virtualturbo 16 bit graphics 8 bit processing mind you that chip could pump out a little more than 7mhz

  • Rubbish. Zelda trumps this.

  • Maybe it does, but this game is really fun. If find it much better.

  • Visually? Who gives a crap? If you care about graphics in games you need to get stabbed in the face, nothing beats the original Zelda theme, while your playing a Zelda title. Playability? So your crying that the original Legend of Zelda was too hard?

  • I agree with you, this game plays better, nicer graphics, great music. In my opinion this game is abit more funner than Zelda, don't me wrong though, I love the Zelda games but most of all the games music is the same.

  • @virtualturbo I agree that Neutopia is a much better game than the original Zelda, but for a couple hundred points more you can get a MUCH better game in LttP. However, if one's already already played LttP, Neutopia is the next best thing. Actually... I'd go with Ys I & II and THEN Neutopia, but... you get my point.

  • i have been hoping for nuetopia 2 to be released ever since i found out they would have tg-16 games, i never played the first one, but the second neutopia was the first game i EVER rented

  • I love this game, it's cute. :) Wish I had part 2 though. Maybe on the Wii, eh? I always thought the hero was a middle-aged dude with a bald spot!

  • Yeah I'm getting a little tired of waiting myself. Should be here in June if what I'm hearing is right. : )

  • It's out now, google 'Three New Classic Games Added to Wii Shop Channel'

  • I wish this game would hurry up and come out on the VC because ive been dying to play this game ever since you sent me the neutopia vids back in February (I was xemnas_89 on gamefaqs.)

  • It's definitely on my Wii's Virtual console wishlist.

  • oh man i used to have this game and loved the sh** out of it, I cant rememeber what happens after the lava level and you get the rainbow tears, my used tg-16 usually crapped out shortly after i'd get there

  • Hey, corbie. How's it going?

Btw, put a forum on your site and I'll be sure to join (b'-')b

  • You know, I may add one. I'm just trying to get all these videos done, and it's taking a long time. : )

  • Wow wow wow. That music is actually even cooler than Zelda's... Or at least more catchy. Great stuff.

  • It does have a rather catchy soundtrack. And Neutopia 2 is even better. Neutopia is one of my all-time favorites and I can't wait until it makes it out on the VC.
