The trailer doesn't do this movie justice. Not gothic enough. Too much emphasis on other movies it's actors were in.
This is the best kind of horror movie, "Scream" (actually a really gory suspense thriller) being the worst (at least among those most people have heard of.) based on Lovecraft's "The Lurking Fear," the setting was transferred from the Catskill Mountains to an island off the coast of Maine, & the Martenses became the VanDs.
Wasn't "Boadicea" by Enya used in the intro to the film?

Well, how does one begin to describe Bleeders? Let's see... A beautiful collage of expertly choreographed cinematography, incredible and influential plot twists and non-stop, no holds barred incest action? ....Yes, I think so!
Simply put, Bleeders is the pinnacle of film making in western civilization.
Btw, I thought I'd mention there is yet another 'criterion collection' masterpiece known as Troll 2 which is even BETTER than this film! Don't believe me?
Troll 2... Troll 2 and Bleeders are mankind's greatest artistic achievement. They combine to form a new 'wonder' of the world, basically. Everything else pails in comparison. Life just wouldn't be the same without these 2 heart-warming family films.
They are without peer. You will never see better. Don't try.
First I rented it on video (The case had a sort of "tessellation" of the grotesque creatures on the cover, as well as some simulated "blood" which had been inserted), then, a couple of years later it came on TV as "The Descendent."
Overall one of the better Lovecraft movies, based on "The Lurking Fear."
