  • whats this song?

  • Hi.

Did you read the other comments ? Obviously not. I made half of the job .I let you do the rest ;-)

Enjoy (and thanks again to "laurajanine" who gave me the answer).

  • The best 3 some dance I 've ever seen!

  • if you like this one, look for a video of Robert Royston's choregraphed 3-way, its HOT!!!!! This video is amazing though, leading 2 gals is tough enough, but to have such flawless musicality while doing it is insane!

  • Simply amazing. Arjay, Melissa, and Deborah - fantastic lead/follow by all of you. Awesome!

  • Holy S***... That is so amazing. RJ does a wonderful job here, but i think the girls deserve a lot of credit too. It looks like they are keeping a close eye on each other's stylings. Really, really cool. This video made me laugh out loud.

  • Unbelievable - I have always appricated Arjay and both of these ladies - but I have never seen this quality of a threesome - practiced or not - that was real dancing and took a lot of figuring out - unbelievable!!

  • Great dancing!! Arjay is awesome. Being able to keep the differences in lead between the two hands is really impressive.

The girl in the black needs to keep her hips up - - the dip was a bit frightening!!

Lead and follow granted, no one can keep that kind of symmetry (between the two ladies) without some practice.

  • arjay is my name

  • Arjay is living the dream.

  • I can't stop watching this video !!

What is the name of the song ? Thanks.

  • Cause I Love You by Mike Morgan and the Crawl

  • Thank you so much !!!

  • The WC swing has evolved into a very artistic form of dance. They don't have to "know" the music, just match what kind of vibe the music gives off. I have seen complete strangers create magic on the dance floor. The dance lends itself to both a strong connection and freedom of interpretation all at one time. It is danced to so many types of music and that also gives it a constantly evolving and new look. It is a dance that matches the American personality--innovative.

  • I understand what everyone is saying here RE the lead/follow and them knowing or not knowing what to do. WCS dancers do a lot of playing, etc. They also know the songs. Could this have been done if they did not know the song? No! Plus, these dancers dance together a great deal, so they know each other's style, so that's why it seemed rehearsed. In a way, it is because they do know the song. I would like to see WCS dancers dance to songs they do not know at all, and then see what they do.

  • What is your background? When you say songs they do not know...would the song still be a legitimate WCS dance able song? Because Melissa and I are also capable of dancing non format improvisation dancing to random music.

  • You have consistently displayed your ignorance of Lead/Follow Social Dancing, Damicus118.

First, I've danced with both of the women and know that they're incredible Followers.

Second, your allegation that "unplanned" dancing in front of others must be tough shows your total lack of experience. We Swing dancers do it every five minutes or so, often with complete strangers.

  • hey, if you want to hear the crowd response and see another angle check out the tag NYDE 2007 - Arjay Melissa Deborah

  • SayDance.... amazing! Arjay, Melissa and you rocked it!!! Can't wait to see you in St. Louis... next month.

  • Well UK Youth Jive Champion... Why don't you reveal yourself? who are you anyway? You think 4 years of dancing makes you an expert?... Well Between Arjay, Melissa and Myself we have 50 years of dance training combined ( if not more) So I would say we are the experts.... "You know not of what you speak young Cassius".. I guess you are an expert on Literature as well, so I don't have to tell you who Cassius is do I?

  • Do you mean Dio Cassius the Roman Historian? Or Gaius Cassius Longinus a conspiritor against Julius Caesar?

What do you mean reveal myself?? I am not saying that some of it is freestyled i believe it is but i also believe that some moves were planned out.

'Why do you make yourself so wild a tempest?' (Go on place that quote) Peace Out

  • Cardinal to Ferdinand, Duchess Of Malfi

  • Damn! Lol, oh well, guess you're not only a good dancer but a fan of English Literature, i hope i get the pleasure of whizzing you round the dance floor.

  • There are many other hidden factors in this dance that might make it seem routine based.

    1. This is a very familiar song to the entire west coast swing community, so when the music started, we already had a feeling for the song (but still did not know what Arjay would be leading)

    2. Even though parts may look complicated, much of this is basic wcs timing and footwork.........

  • 3. I fed off of Deborah's styling as she did mine. Also, in order for this to look clean, Deborah and I had to keep a sharp eye out on our spacing with eachother.

What makes wcs so great is that Arjay could dance this with 2 different followers and ideally they'd follow it similarly in motion but all the while making it look stylistically very different.

  • Well said Chicka!!

  • I'd propose that not only is it leadable, but that he lead to the best of his ability: Melissa (pink) starts to execute that move before Deboarah (black) does.

Other points of "inexactness" lend the whole thing to being a pure lead/follow(/follow) dance.

Props to ArJay - his brain deserved a break after that one!

  • This was strictly lead and follow and so much fun!!!

  • For the record, yes Arjay knew the song ahead of time but the trio did not rehearse any choreography. This was not a set routine.

  • You obviously have no understanding of partner dancing. There's a difference between a set choreographed routine and using basic lead and follow moves to articulate the music. There may be a familiarity to the song but the lead gave no indication to the followers other than pure lead and follow technique to infer how he'd like to articulate the music. The leader adjusts accordingly when the follower articulates otherwise. Do us all a favor and don't comment something you know nothing about...

  • Is your title in Modern Jive or in International Latin?

  • Modern Jive :D

  • obviously we have different definitions of "improv" I see where you are coming from and acknowledge it even though i disagree. My definition of improv would best be described if a set of musicians got together to improv or jam session. They all have a familiarity to their instruments and how to create based on the same musical scale and pitch. What you suggested is that someone with no musical training join for this improv jam.

  • I find that when i dance with my partner there are certain moves we do that she knows i am going to do and preempts them. Maybe thats what i saw just a bit of the girls preempting what was coming and that may be why i thought it wasn't freestyled. Anyway now thats all settled i think it looks wicked anyway. And thanks for giving me 2 poor comments marks.

  • Re: the move at 3:40.. looks like they are are following his footwork. Pretty standard (albeit advanced) stuff. There may not have been a physical lead, but there was a visual lead for it.

  • Yeh maybe but they start it as soon as he starts his so its as if they knew that it was coming. There is no hesitation as to see what is coming next. Maybe they just dance together and they know what he does in some cases and this is just one of them?

  • Danicus, you say you're the current uk jive youth champion, congratulations. Do you follow, or lead? All leads are not apparent from a distance, as you may know - and knowledge of multiple dances (Argentine Tango for example) lends to one's knowledge of body dynamics.....

  • I lead, and thankyou. Yeh i apprieciate what you are saying but i still believe that the girls had some knowledge of what was coming. If not it just looks so good it looks choreographed. Do you dance steve?

  • Nah dude, Unrehearsed is just that, unrehearsed. Means you don't rehearse a routine to a track. Otherwise every time you dance to a song you've heard before, you can't call it "unrehearsed, and that's just absurd.

  • Yeh i understand that but i was saying that i think that they had all practice or planned certain bits and added a few timings, looking at it i think it wasnt fully choreographed bit i think some bits were planned

  • Deffinatly, my god imagine dancing infront of lots of people with an unplanned ruitine if that is what it is. That must be tough

  • Any partner dance has basic patterns we must learn in order to be proficient, allowing us to social dance w/many partners. WCS places huge emphasis on lead/follow & musical interpretation. If you were familiar with WCS, you'd know that many of the patterns featured are social dance basics. It's a testament to the 2 followers that they can mimic each other's styling so closely. Could someone with no WCS training do it? No. Can 2 WCS Champions do it when lead by a top WCS Pro? Absolutely.

  • that was amazing!!! its amazing to believe that you guys hadnt rehersed this!! sooo good!!

  • A joy to watch! I love this!

  • Amazing!

  • Great Job Champions!Iwould like to order the Dvd too. Happy Dancing & Happy New Year.
