  • Two of my favorite artists. Both exhibit a perfect technique

  • Times have changed.

  • Que falta me haces Pablito...

  • I always like Bergonzi's Nemorino better than Luciano's. I wish we had a Carlo B around nowadays...

  • Elvira's A is more solid than Bergonzi's!

  • No lo creo...

  • Realmente es mejor que un agudo de un tenor medroso (como hay muchos)

  • WAS THAT AN Ab at 8:17??...THAT WAS SICK!!!!! Jesus. I've sung this, and this isn't an easy part for the baritone. If he did a G at the end, i would say he was a beast. Thanks for the video

  • HAHAHA! You're right!!!

  • That was A....

  • @redsox2213 - I thought an A natural... Maybe the orchestra is tuned down, but I 'm pretty sure it's written in F.

  • Continuing...Again while at Indiana University, once at the end of "Trovatore", Pablo joined the mezzo-soprano hitting a unison Bb. Her name was Ruby Jones, a big black lady, who took no crap from anyone. She whispered to him, onstage, as the audience went nuts, "You dirty motherf##ker, don't you EVER do that again!"

  • I don't know about not discovering his top till his 40s. I attended Indiana University and sang with Pablo in "Trovatore" in 1969, so he was 32. During one performance in the dressing room, he sang "Ah si, ben mio" along with the tenor, hitting a fantastic Bb.

  • I struck up a friendship with Pablo when he came to Midwestern State University (home to the Cornelius Reid tape library). He stated that he didn't discover his tops until the age of 40. What a discovery! Later heard him in Lucia with Neil Shicoff in Dallas.
