I've known about Sam for a few years now and people who like showtunes think he's great but to everyone else, they say "oh my..how gay can he be?!". Despite his eccentricity (why should he hide who he is?), there is some amazing talent underneath all this and people unfortunately are too fickle and get distracted by one very miniscule aspect of himself. In 1985 I sat in the 6th row center at DeAnza College in Cupertino, CA. It was New Year's Eve night, and I was with my dear gal pal Heidi. Sam, you performed for like 3 hours! And then at midnight you came out like Baby New Year. Sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow...made my entire New Year. And Last night after welcoming 2011 at midnight, I listened to Sam's, Over the Rainbow. It's been my tradition ever since 1985. Odd years are always the best for me! Happy New Year!

I love this song so much!! I can remember sitting in my religion class in high school unable to get it out of my head! (I did not mind of course!) I video taped it and played it over and over again!
