  • I always liked this song and not till recently found it was a man singing it!! So high pitched I always thought it was sung by a woman. I still like it

  • I've known about Sam for a few years now and people who like showtunes think he's great but to everyone else, they say "oh my..how gay can he be?!". Despite his eccentricity (why should he hide who he is?), there is some amazing talent underneath all this and people unfortunately are too fickle and get distracted by one very miniscule aspect of himself. That is why he neer became mainstream but who cares, he has kept his career going!! TE ADORO SAM, saludos desde Chicago, IL

  • these songs make me realize how old i am getting. wow.

  • I wore this cassette out in the 80s. Still love this track and amazingly I still remembered all the words. lol. Now I'm missin' SAM I AM real bad.

  • Love this, I saw this when I was 9 years old :) My mum bought me the cassette and I played it over over again LOL xx

  • this is a great man..... do not spread rumors that have no merrit..... come on.... you know this man.... he is talent and love and I know he knows God......... hate and lies will kill ya...

  • In 1985 I sat in the 6th row center at DeAnza College in Cupertino, CA. It was New Year's Eve night, and I was with my dear gal pal Heidi. Sam, you performed for like 3 hours! And then at midnight you came out like Baby New Year. Sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow...made my entire New Year. And Last night after welcoming 2011 at midnight, I listened to Sam's, Over the Rainbow. It's been my tradition ever since 1985. Odd years are always the best for me! Happy New Year!

  • What a gift this man is.... What a gift he has.... and as a Gay American, I thank him for all of his statements and support!!

  • @nealbrice I saw him once in "Grease"... And this song was Top 3 in Seattle. He's short, but he can certainly can sing... Woo-woo... Though now his "mullet" is rather dated...

  • This guy had some really good songs.....his debut album was fantastic

  • I hear he's an atheist

  • @turbozed then you are not listening.

  • @turbozed so what if he is! More power to him!

  • I seen you on the Tyra show. I ask Jesus to forgive me of my sins, for he is the only person that can forgive me . Yes i"am gay, thats not a bad thing. I"ve been with my partner for 27 years. I can see, you have a good soul!

  • good

  • Hey SamHarrisCOM why isn't SAM I AM available?? My favorite album of his and I can't find it on CD or iTUNES???

  • @PKScoop I know, it's quite annoying, sorry, but out of our control. It's up to Motown to release the first two albums. We would be happy if only on iTunes. Please visit SamHarrisDOTcom and click on "discography" for more information on what to do to get the albums re-released. Thanks!

  • Wow. Memories flash back hearing this guy. Anyone know where to find any videos from his first album?

  • Wow, I really like this song

  • Thank you so so much for this. I fell in love with his music in the 90's, but the dutch do not sell his albums. My friend had the vinyl. I must admit we bought it for the cover. He was so cute and still is by the way. I know he's gay, but the nile is not just a river in Egypt LOL.;).

  • Still Have the vinyl but finally after searching for years found Sam Harris' motown songs on CD

  • Great stuff. Can anybody tell me who his band was? Particularly his guitarist?

  • The guitarist in the red shirt and Whitesnake hair is Sam's brother Matt. :-)

Search the video of them working on the song "Free".

  • This reminds me of the "Ark Royal" pub in Plymouth (England) - Robbie the DJ used to play this video - he was absolutely nuts, in a nice way.

  • Sam is the best !!!! Loved him from the minute he began his "Somewhere over the Rainbow" on Star Search in 1983!!! Outstanding vocal control!!!

  • I LOVE THIS CASSETTE! I had to replace my original because I wore it out. Thank you for sharing your incredible talents with us, Sam! I've enjoyed listening to you since Star Search and have been watching all the Friend Fridays and videos over the last few weeks. Congratulations on your beautiful world and thanks for sharing! Much Love.

  • i was so so so little- like maybe 7, and i was totally in star struck love! star search was on,i was frozen. played the tape till u could hear the other side in reverse. stiil have it----good god!! the memories.

  • God I remember this like it was yesterday! Time sure flies by quickly. You are better than ever before Sam.

  • Something in the lyrics I find illogical: How can I "catch you if you stumble or fall," when I'm waiting at the TOP of the stairs? In order to catch a person, shouldn't you be behind them on the steps?

  • Thank God I wasn't the only one with a mullet. I call it my Sheena Easton look.

  • Oh god sam did we really look like that? I was 22 that year and really just coming out to the gay world!!

  • I LOVE this song !!! Your 80's outfit & hair brings back so many great memories !! :) Margie

  • Wow, I was born in 1986! :)

  • OMG your hair!!What a blast from the past.XOXO
