i'd say listen to a lot of solo bass. also practice the techniques: harmonics, chords and tapping. bassline publishing has a lot of great resources to help you learn these techniques.

the strings i use are called piccolo strings - check them out!

and i just wondered about 1 more thing. my bass teacher told me that 12 fret hamronic is the same as regular 12 fret note, but he also said that all other frets werent the same. how do you know what note the harmonic is? :) And thanks alot for replying! really appriciate it

Can I ask - your bass sounds much higher than most basses I've heard. Do you use lighter gauge strings or an octave FX unit or what? It's almost as if you've restrung the guitar to be more like a tenor instrument.

You just really have to just sit down for a few days , and give it your full focus. He gave u the tuning. So now look,listen, and concentrate. It is how i learn his pieces. And you can even figure out tuning by listening and watching. Try it sometime. Zander is a truly gifted musician and now that i have heard his music, it has made this instrument open up to me in a new way. So trust me. Sit down and try and figure it out. Oh and write it down piece by piece that u learn. Good l

@dozo89 If you get a set of piccolo-gauge strings (approx. $20 online) you can play piccolo-tuned on most bass guitars. Some models may require you to change the nut to accept the thinner strings, but I can guess the SR500 won't have a problem since I've got my Ibanez SRX500 tuned up with piccolo-gauge strings and I didn't have to change the nut on mine. I've got a few videos on my channel of me playing it piccolo tuned if you want to get a feel for the tone (sorry for the shameless self-plug).

tom, i learn the pieces by finding the notes for the melody and then the chords that support it - all by ear. then i try to figure how to play both at the same time. after this, i usually try to find ways to mix it up a bit. for example, i drop down an octave near the end of this piece, then go back up an octave right at the very end.
