The Chiefs founder, Lamar Hunt, is the man who founded the AFL. His creation caused the NFL to grant the Dallas (the cowboys) with an expansion team in 1960.

The formation of the AFL eventually lead to the Superbowl, a term that was coined by Lamar Hunt.

So why are the Chiefs in the NFL, because the NFL wouldn't be where it is today with out their formation.

They just suck right now.

BTW. If truly no one cares about the Chiefs, they wouldn't continue to sell out games even when they are horrible. In fact they have sold out every home game since the late 80's. Very few teams can say that.
