  • I don't know why any expects natalie portman to be as good as this considering she's an actress and a professional ballerina has spent her entire life perfecting her art.

  • Is this on DVD? Please say it is...Svetlana is my favorite swan...:)

  • Svetlana and Roberto are both fantastic dancers!

  • I think Svetlana should play the role in Black Swan, instead of Natalie Portman.

  • i have to say out out of all the dancers ive seen she has the most beautiful line and fluidity in her movement. its so hard to stay in perfect form and keep in character. most dancers i know have to pick one or the other. she puts my dancing to shame--i'm gonna go practice some more!

  • wow and the mazurka...

  • wow this is wonderful

  • Why is everyone bitching about the Black Swan movie? Natalie Portman is an actress not a dancer and she never claimed to have done all the dancing in the movie. Black Swan is not a ballet movie or a dance movie it's a psycological thriller about a ballet dancer. people take this shit way to seriously

  • @jeraldisme you're definitely right. the only thing that bothers me about all movies about ballet, whether it's a thriller, dance movie or any other kind, is that there still are people out there thinking: "well, if an actress only took a couple months training for a movie like that, it's not that hard." which obviously isn't true. but yeah, it's a little over the top how many people reacted to black swan... :)

  • She killed this for real! I love this and the Black Swan movie.

  • And people say she shows no emotion... I think she's fierce and beautiful.

  • that much boringness for only 1 mill on youtube

  • STILL DREAMING OF BECOMING A BALLERINA AFTER WATCHING THIS

  • her eyes....PURE SEDUCTION!!!great interpretation!

  • I think its just me, but I thought of the Ballerina here rather a bit tense, thus coming across as controlled..none the less, she danced it splendidly...=)

  • @LiliScarlett8

I agree she did a good job, but she did not really dance in the movie. only upper body movement.

  • i love Svetlana

  • 9:35 - I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THAT PART!! :D

  • Absolutely wonderful !!

  • Black Swan is a psychological film. it talks about how person denies the bad (or at least what he / she think is bad) part of him / herself. Nina was that kind of person and the black swan only symbolised the "bad part". my grandma is a psychologist and she spoke about the movie in some psychological congress. so the movie is not about ballet at all.

  • black swan is not only about ballet, come on.Give film this art some respect.

  • I think his jock is stuffed, right?

  • frickin awesome. Black swan is a MOVIE not a ballet by the way, numpties.

  • People need to shut up and stop complaining about black swan. I think Natalie Portman did a great job... considering she is an actor and not actually a ballerina!

  • 09:34

    <3

  • se la perfezione è di questo mondo è interpretata da loro due.

  • Leute, DAS nenne ich Perfektion :)

  • I feel like breaking her arms,lol :D

  • Amazing.

  • One of my absolute favourite "Prima Ballerinas" Great artist and a lovley perfomance, to great music.

  • chi sono i pazzi che hanno messo non mi piace?!

  • I can not stop staring at her peaky arms :,(

  • @khada89 beautiful though!

  • Where can I find the complete ballet?

  • Beautiful~!!

  • I watch this like 10 times DAILY... literally. So beautiful.

  • Pure Artisan :)

  • Elle n a aucun en dehors

Ses genous ne sont jamais sur les coter quand elle fait les plier.

En revanche quelle souplesse et flexibilité rapidité et technique

  • Everytime I watch this video I get so amazed with Svetlana... She's perfect, the perfect ballerina.. So artistic... Bravo

  • un sogno....

  • Non saprei quale dei due è il migliore : non solo bravissimi, ma anche belli. La musica è stupenda.

  • pure artistry.

  • I hope some day I can be the black swan!

  • You do get the chills when he gives her the feather!

  • one thing i regret the most isi quit my ballet course when i was in 2nd grade, now im 15, and still regretting >.<

  • Sveta at her peak...i'm speechless.

  • How can anyone look at her (and her alien arms) when Roberto Bolle is on stage?

  • exquisite!

  • Y NO VODKA?

  • this is Svetlana's best Black Swan

  • I can watch this for hours, Svetlana is so graceful and she has so much control! The choreography is great, so as the dancers.

  • I can watch this for hours, Svetlana has so much control! The choreography is great, so as the dancers.

  • I can watch this for hours, Svetlana has so much control! The choreography is great, so as the dancers.

  • spendido!

  • Svetlana's expressing WOWW! So beautyful!! I love her!!

  • She looks graceful as always!

  • lei sembra anorexica

  • I love Svetlana's expressing at the very beginning. Soo gooood.

  • really beautiful

  • I haven't seen this version of the pes de deux before. I know the adagio and male variation music are both from Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux.. although i prefer the more common version, Svetlana still makes this one work!

  • This video is a great example of why any ballet lover might be disappointed in the Black Swan movie.

  • @thedridis Ahhh surely the film was such a sort of psychological horror that also Bolle himself invited to watch it, didn't know what to say about it...LOL.

But to each 1 is own, of course the real ballet it's all another thing ;-P)

  • @thedridis indeed

  • @thedridis why would they be disappointed in the movie?

  • @thedridis Well,Natalie Portman is not a professional ballerina,so...i don't see any motivation to the people stay so angry with the perfomance from the movie...

  • @thedridis : Well, I'm a ballet lover and a dancer. And I loved "Black Swan". It's not just another filmed version of Swan Lake. It's also a great thriller with great actors, a great atmosphere and beautiful music. And as a dancer, I think Natalie Portman did a really good job, considering she is NOT a ballerina.

  • @LiliScarlett8 I'm a ballet dancer and "Black Swan" is a joke, stupid from beginning to end.

  • @LiliScarlett8 I loved it for what it was-- but I walked in expecting this amazing dance movie after the fuss people made over the dance part. I had to turn off my expectation for a real ballet performance in order to see the film for what it was. She was OKAY. There are gals in my zumba class who could have done better. She was an amazing psycho though.

  • @LiliScarlett8 she didnt did most of the dancing she got a double for the movie and they got the real ballerina look like natalie by doing head repleacement with a computer

  • @LiliScarlett8 I see you've been fooled to think Natalie Portman did all the dancing.

  • @thedridisWhat a stupid comment. Natalie Portman's Black Swan was a movie drama, not a ballet performance.

  • @MCarey0608 Thanks, maybe it is a stupid comment now that everyone knows that dancing was not the core of this film. Actually the hype over her dance performance had me really excited about the film, and that was why I went. I love ballet, though am not a dancer. So in the respect, the film was really a disappontment for me. The second time I saw the film, I appreciated it for what it was. But just hard to believe she was this great dancer. You have to suspend belief to appreciate the movie.

  • Amazing Svetlana is wonderful!

  • Absolutely Beautiful!!!!!!

  • this is the best balletpiece for her,she has a pretention, and is technically perfect to dance odile,a true odile version, now I understand why people say" tsarin de la danse".so right!and roberto bolle is her perfect partner like leirix61 says bravo!

  • Qué belleza! y Luz (Svletana) es magnífica, es la mejor bailarina de ballet que he visto en mi vida! es estupenda, y Roberto, es igual de extraordinario que Luz! Gran pareja en la ejecución de esta hermosa musica!

  • @XocePedro Svetlana.. no Svletana =)

  • @MsBoomSweet Sorry, you're right. ¡Saludos!

  • @XocePedro no pasa nada)) soy rusa por eso yo se:)

  • I'm a newbie, can somebody explain? WHY ARE THEY PERFORMING TO DIFFERENT MUSIC??

  • @idunnowhatimdoin I'm new to the whole scene but I have no doubt there's more than one version of Swan Lake besides the Tchaikovsky version.

  • i just watched the full DVD of this ballet- i hate to say i was a little disappointed. don't get me wrong, zakharova is BEAUTIFUL and STUNNING, and has perfect technique, and is light years beyond anything i could ever do... but i feel that she just didn't embody the character of neither Odette OR Odile.

i feel she is too strong for vulnerable- Odette and she is too precise and technical for wild-Odile

but perhaps they were bored, or they knew this was just for the video and not a live audience

  • @NinjaTree6 How funny ! She is my perfect Odile-Odette. Her Odette looks so graceful, elegant, beautiful but in so much pain and lethargy in the same time. At the same time, her Odile looks seductive, flirty and manipulative. She has assurance almost arrogance. And with her perfect technique, it just looks more stunning. I love the scala version, she is a much better Odile and she dances like a goddess with Bolle.

  • I've seen nearly every Swan Lake known to modern man (including Erik Bruhn's, where the Queen Mother is also Ms. Von Rothbart) and I still don't know what Bourmeister was trying to do here. Music for BS pdd is pulled from 3 other works (yeah, OK, some was the original BS pdd) but what is up with this coda? The grand pdd had a structure, and this ain't it. The fouettes symbolizing Odile's triumph occur in a vacuum when the entire cast gets into the act. Is there a Bolle/Zhak Petipa version?

  • it's fun to watch the graceful girls in ballet with their pretty lines, but there is something so captivating about guys in ballet- they have so much strength in their moves it's stunning!

  • I always get shills at 3:33 when he gives her the feather. She has won his heart and trust! She seduced him. The music is wonderfull x

  • Beautiful. Breathtaking!

  • i don't like her tutu thing... it's looks too stiff

  • Comment removed

  • @theamazingsoter Well then, I don't like pancake tutus.

  • @Xxrockerchic229xX Not all pancake tutus are like this one. Some are flater, while others have a rounder shape (but not too long skirt otherwise it becomes a bell tutu). Odette/Odile usually wears a tutu like Zakharova's, but each company makes them different - some add feathers and other decorative details, etc. That said, I don't like this one either :)

  • @theamazingsoter ohh okay that makes much more sense! soo all the short ones are pancake tutus? Becasue i love them x) just this one is wayy too flat and has no shape!

  • what act does this take place during the ballet? music i thought went with scene is in act one of a recording i have, but i thought this would not happen till act 3 or four...

  • @rthistory Yes, this is Act III. But the music used here is the adagio of the so-called "Tchaikovsky Pas de deux". It is included in most recordings of the full-length Swan Lake under the name "Pas de deux (additional number)". The variation of Prince Siegfried used here is also from that Pas de deux.

  • pple at the back must be bored

  • @Lovekookie no, their just as amazed as we are at the wonderful dancing ;)

  • Spectacular

  • I have noticed that there seems to be many variations of this ballet , endings and music. I like the music best on this performance. Their seem to be many endings , most popular one is that the prince and swan queen kill themselves and by doing so go to heaven and Von Rothbert is thus destroyed . In other endings they live and von Rothbert is again destroyed and in yet another ending Von Rothbert kills the Prince and takes a distressed Odette away !!

  • DIDNT LIKE IT , I LIKE MORE THE CUBAN VERSION

  • @davcubmx

Go and watch the cuban version then !!

  • I've got a feet like this :D

  • what i would do for her feet!! :(

  • she is painfully thin

  • @movemeerkat she is just a perfect ballerina

  • @Leirix61 so to be a perfect ballerina you believe you have to thin to that extent? is that your idea of perfection? yes she is a wonderful ballerina theres no questioning that.

  • She is absolutely amazing. So refined!

  • bellissimi !!!

  • Porque mudaram a música?

  • god she has the most beautiful arches

  • I am confused about the music, it sounds different from usual?

  • wow!!! she is sooo good!! and so is he! his grande jette at 5:37 is wayyyyy better than mine :P

  • omg!!!she fits so good in this role ,techniqually, athletique, flamboyante, gracieus, and the game of seduction...mme zakharova does it like a queen!!respect roberto bolle is the dreamprince of course!!!

  • FEET

  • Ben affiatati i due ballerini, Svetlana è molto bella ed aggraziata, Roberto mi è sembrato un po' più rigido. Comunque, bravi entrambe ed una piacevole visione.

  • It's really outrageous that after seeing this wonderful ballet ..... not like it!!

  • I love Odile's variation at 7:00 best :)

  • This performance of Swan Lake is just so good that I am hooked on watching it at least twice a week for the last few months and at the end of each part , well i often clap loudly from behind my pc screen just like the audience does, this video is that wonderful to me !!

  • the guy is really good 2!

  • She's a BEAUTIFUL dancer!! <3 U Svetlana Zakharova!!!

  • So the dance belt gives support to the male genital area, provides protection and keeps everything comfortably in place, which is also essential for the visual aspects of a male ballet dancer whilst wearing his costume ballet tights. Its not much different to women wearing a comfortable supporting sports bra whilst they are engaged in any form of vigorous exercise, sport or dancing etc !!

  • My son, who's just resumed class after a lapse (previously he was young enough not to need a dance belt), says it feels like having a permanent wedgie! LOL!

  • @minissa2009

As I am from Uk I can only imagine what you mean by the phrase '' a permanent wedgie '' !!

  • @lovemetu Should friend you so I don't have to clutter the comments with this. There must be a UK equivalent for this because it's a juvenile prank boys all over the world play. Basically, you yank another boy's nickers up, pulling using the part of the waistband that goes across the back. Apparently if you're totally evil, you can get the elastic over the victim's head. If there are any male dancers responding, could you tell us if this is what it should feel like or if we need a size larger?

  • @minissa2009

Thanks for your reply. After I wrote my reply to you I looked that up on wikipedia and it said similar to what you have stated. I am 64 years old and have never come across this prank before, sounds quite painfull and perhaps it could also be quite dangerous to the male parts as well. Yes friend if you want !!

  • Comment removed

  • Regarding the many, often crude remarks about the bulge that is to be seen in the groin area of the male ballet dancers, well its quite simple, its due to them wearing a dance belt. This is something similar to a jock strap but designed especially for male ballet dancers, its purpose is to protect the male genital area as the male ballet dancer goes about his performance. Of course the silly idea that its anything to to with the sexual orientation of the dancer is utter and complete nonsense !!

  • que de la grace et quelle merveilieux talant

  • This is an absolutely brilliant video, from the wonderful swan lake ballet, with a wonderful fairytale type story music from the master composer Tchaikovsky and out of this world ballet dancing and what a finale with Svetlana Zakharova as the black swan as she spins round endlessly like a top, dancing to the wonderful rousing music.!!

  • O.O Amazing!!!! I'm speechless..

  • if only i had feet like that......

  • by the way, im really sorry to all the wonderful ballet fans for filling this beautiful page with garbage from the internet, so i will now post a positive, topical comment. im a fan of roberto bolle and his perfect positions and soft landings! theyre awe inspiring! though my favorites are still from a bygone era (or two) when raw power and exuberance were on display: vladimir vasiliev and alexander godunov! such strength! godunov wasnt soft like this, but he was strong like bull!

  • @TheArcturusProject i agree. I think Bolle is the perfect partner for Zakharova as Ivan Vasiliev is for Osipova and Kobborg for Cojocaru.

  • @TheArcturusProject : Merci.

  • Her skill is amazing!

  • 7:01 Amei essa expressão =D

  • LINDO!

  • Love it!

  • Who changed the Choreography ?!! Some Moron trying to Improve on Perfection?! What an Idiot ! Balanchine must be turning over in his grave !

  • Eu nunca vi coisa mais magnifica!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • it was the same person when i watch this their amazing its cream the la cream....you better watch them live and find yourself...

  • Not a fan of this choreography. This is the Bourmeister production, isn't it? Her variation is so boring and repetitive, though she dances it beautifully. The coda definitely was all about the corps when it should be about Odile and Siegfried. I just didn't feel excited at all or intrigued because it's as if the story is an afterthought.

  • This is the variation traditionally performed in Russia. And variation swapping is all fair in ballet. Also keep in mind the number of versions of this grand pas that there have been historically (musical scores included). :D

  • What is up with this choreography?? Since when was it acceptable to repeat a part in a variation that wasn't meant to be there in the first place? If you're going to do black swan variation then the actual choreography, i don't care who you are. And just because you aren't a good dancer doesn't mean that you can just walk around on stage while a corps does part of the coda.

  • OMG what were the choreographers and music compilers thinking? The first two sections come from what probably really was the original Black Swan music, the latter two from a set of variations for the princesses. The first two are so well known from Balanchine's Tchaikovsky pas de deux I don't know why anyone deviates from what has become the standard BS music, which allows for seduction and cruel parody of the WS. And it's a grand pdd, which means the coda is done by the principals alone. GACK!

  • @repn87 If the Oscars are all about marketing, then explain to me why did Slumdog millionaire kicked Benjamin Button's ass. Or why did the Hurt locker win best picture and director award when nobody when to se it...

The truth is that Portman did a great job. Amazing vid btw...

  • @SabinGlennGarland Acting awards and movie awards are completely different ballgames. Actors and actresses are about MARKETING and being fashionable and being hot and being overrated, that's the only thing they are, and that's what Portman is. And Frankly, I don't even know why I am talking about Portman's fake shit while watching true beauty in this video.

  • And btw, if being histrionic, over the top and stiff as hell is doing a great job as an actor...well, then there's nothing left, I guess. Not to mention her dancing, just horrific. I don't give a damn if she is a dancer or not, the truth is the character looked histrionic and fake, that's not good acting for me. Being over the top is easy and the academy loves that rubbish.

  • And btw, if being histrionic, over the top and stiff as hell is doing a great job as an actor...well, then there's nothing left, I guess. Not to mention her dancing, just horrific. • Why is the music different ?

  • Princess Kraehe???!?!! >:O

  • nice :)

  • chato e legal

  • i am going to make a comment that isnt a paragraph.....

  • I must say that Bolle's work with Zakharova is the only time I've really enjoyed his dancing. I really liked him in this and Giselle with her, before his acting hasn't felt as genuine as other dancers; he has beautiful technique though and is a brilliant dancer.

  • The prince learns of the trick played on him and runs after Odette to tell her of his true love for her. She tells the prince that the only way now for her to escape the evil spell is for them to pledge their love for each other and then to die together which they do by jumping in the lake and drowning. Their spirits are then reunited forever as they together ascend to heaven. The spell broken, the Evil sorcerer is destroyed thus releasing the other swans back into their natural human forms

  • @lovemetu What ? This isn't the swan lake story i know...

  • @Shleoss

Ok well I condensed the story down into 4 parts , the information is from wikipedia so it should be correct. It does say that the story can be varied as to certain parts and also to the ending, so its interesting that you may have a different story, perhaps you can write down the one that you know for our continued enjoyment of this wonderful ballet !!

  • @lovemetu @lovemetu Excuse my comment, i wrote it before reading the first three parts of yours. Well in the version I know, Odette kills herself because she is desperate and not to "escape the evil spell" the Prince then kills himself spontaneously, the love that emanates from this act is so Powerful that the sorcerer is thereby annihilated. It's just a slight difference from what you wrote. For the other versions I saw:

-Odette dies in Siegfried's arms and they both are swallowed by the lake.

  • @lovemetu

-The love of two is so strong that it overcomes Von Rothbart, who dies and frees all remaining swans.

I also viewed a version that I did not quite understand, Odette flies away in the form of a swan and the curtain falls on Siegfried in tears.

Also there are versions where Odette doesn't turn into a human by night (I'm not sure about that, maybe did I miss understand).

These are the only versions I saw so far, but i'm sure they're not the only ones. (excuse my English)

  • @Shleoss

Yes there are many versions and endings ( try typing into wikipedia to see them ! ) In the original version, Siegfried fights with Van Rothbart and destroys him and the lovers are free to live a happy life in human form, but a few years later Tchaikovsky's brother got him to change the story to the sadder ending. There is even one version in which Van Rothbart kills Siegfried and carries off Odette ! We have to realise that the tragic story is what has made this ballet so popular.

  • @lovemetu yes that is the version I was talking about when i said "The love of two is so strong that it overcomes Von Rothbart, who dies and frees all remaining swans" the prince and Odette are both alive and human, they live happily ever after, but I did not know that was the very original version.

Indeed, what you say is very right, thank you for the informations !
