  • this is awesome!!

  • nothing new until this week when the Japanese unveiled a computer the size of a ball point pen that has no keyboard and no monitor...they are projected on any flat surface and funciton as well as any lap top. Some very similar technology...she did say in about 10 years..

  • briliant. !

  • Nothing has happened in last 2 years... just a hype ... this video is from 2008 ..for last 2 and half years ... no updates ...just a media hype .... this is very common thought ... nothing new in this ,,,,,,

  • Where do u get it, is it like $300? Cause that is really cheap so I can buy 4 for my family. I really want one but doubt I'll get it.

  • we are prou to be indians for people like him

  • Thats like an indian we gave them 0 with aryabhatt now you

    boy

  • Smart people go on the internet to read book reviews and shop for groceries before they waste gas and time by leaving their house. I can see the value in this idea but not to the extent that it would be truely time saving and useful. Think about the time you'd spend programming your gestures and preferences into this device compared to doing all the same things online.

Someone describe to me some REAL useful things to use this for, I'm more than willing to listen.

  • @ctiebs i think that their point was that you would be able to look up book reviews and shop for groceries while on the go. It's not so much that you don't spend time to look things up while at home, but for those instances where going back to the house becomes impractical. Not everything can be planned out beforehand. Really smart people know that. If you need proof, look at how the cellphone has revolutionized mobile communication.

  • great idea awesome

  • wow fantastic job yes ...wow

  • wow fantastic job yes ...wow

  • wow fantastic job yes ...wow

  • wow fantastic job yas....wow

  • 10 Years? I see this happening in 2.

  • i salute u....

  • lest all get our fingertips tatoed green blue yellow and read. i could do that.

  • Fantastic potential. Unbelievable………

  • From fiction to reality. Amazing.

  • Nothing very special. And above that, it has nothing to do with India or Pakistan or USA or UK or Japan. The great part is that Pranav has taken the advantage of the opprtunity available to him in the country where he is living these days. Not every one does it. It is not India pushing the boundaries BUT the country where the opprtunities are offered.

The skill of Pranav should not be politicised.

    May God bless Pranav !!

  • @AkbariHussain --well said

  • you proved that you are a indian. You made our country proud, Keep it up pranav.

  • @prabhu107 What are you saying you didnt want him before he done this. If he lived in india this would never have happened. It is america and he is now an american apparently.

  • @prabhu107 .. U mean he wudn be an Indian if he did not invent ?

  • super great!!!!! A technology born in India

  • WOW! We are truly viewing glimpses of the future!! Amazing invention! :D

  • Awesome invention man!!!! Great and Fantastic job!!!

  • not much of a public speaker..but cool invention!!!

  • why pranav fella didn't straight present ?

  • Mr. Pranav is a genius! Fantastic Job man!!!!

  • bright

  • this technology gives you aditional information about the real world everywhere you go, that's why it's called Sith Sense Technology, it's not meant to tell you what to do, just gives you aditional info to help you take the best decisions, but you take the decisions, nobody else, so stop arguing nonsense

  • I don't need a computer to help me make decisions every I go. These geeks/nerds are just going too far here.

  • correction: everywhere I go

  • Then don't use it.

  • Are laptops, cell phones or PDA's going to far Mayartay? Because in a nutshell that's what SixthSense is. How is it that, making it easier to access information and manipulate data, going to far?

You used a computer to type your message...and that's basically what SixthSense is, a portable computer.

What's wrong with being able to make informed decisions about the world around you? Information is power, this just makes it easier. If you want to live your life in ignorance, don't use it.

  • Wonderful! Clap and cheer your privacy away! very slick technology to finally justify transhumanism next step... minority report..Wake up and Save your rights to privacy!!

  • this is a fantastic technology.. congratulation

    to pranav.

  • I WANT IT!!

  • he's amazing! :D

  • Incredible. I don't fully understand how it works but I don't deny technology is advancing at a rapid pace. Consciousness has to keep up.

  • awesome technology!

  • Did anyone else notice the fucking great laptop strapped to his back? Didnt dangle that bit round the neck did they?

  • Of course! All the cool kids have laptops strapped to their back these days :P

  • I SO WANT one of these.

  • Great concept!!!

For public use, projection is not good. Should use earphone-voice to output or cell phone screen to display information.

  • You have to have a projector for this to work.

Without the projection and hand gestures, it would just be a laptop or PDA.

  • Dear janX9: Thanks for the reply. It is not good to use projection to display sensitive and private information (including rating and feeling of the person, etc...)

  • Oh I agree, you wouldn't want to be checking your bank /facebook accounts with one of these in public.

But I'm sure there are some work arounds...IE: Make the displayed images goto "encrypted mode" when you are planning on accessing personal information, then put on a pair of glasses that decrypts the the image. These have already been made for laptops. I have seen people use encrypted screens at coffee shops so people can't see what they are doing...Problem solved! Or even use video glasses.

  • Dear janX9: Thanks for the information. It is certainly a solution. Just make sure another guy would not also have the pair of glasses that decrypts my projected image.......

  • I think each pair has different encryption. I'm not positive though.

But if SixthSense ever takes off, I'm sure privacy will be a major concern, and they will come up with other useful solutions, as privacy is most everyone's concern.

  • Agree!

  • BRAVO!

    it does not costly either.

    it is awesome!

  • this is early stage tech akin to that discussed as "common place or standard"of wearable computering in Vernor Vinges book 'Rainbows End'

"atmospheric" interactive computing is a repeated theme in many of Vinges books and this certain seems to be the rudimentry beginnings of it..... I think all you shit talkers above are just mad cuz you could create it

  • Hmm...very interesting, although books, newspapers, boarding cards. Why would you even consider buying a real book when presumably you could buy an e-book and project it onto a wall to read?

  • Amazing. And I hate it with the greatest passion.

  • This is an invention of nothing... rather a mere layering of already available technologies. Despite the work effort here, projection itself is a very poor choice for the interface for too many reasons to describe personal, private low light requirement and so on. While I applaud the student effort, its a loser unless available inconspicuously to everyone but the user. Until then, this is what it is, a student experiment at the college level. By the way any collage, MIT aside.

  • an invention doesn't have to be the discovering of a new element. the whole point of the device is to be able to projecting an image outward. if lamps for portable projectors get more efficient, the thumbcaps could be done away with, the phone built-in, and the design improved, it could be practical for everyday use.

  • Mairsey doats and doesey doats and little lams edivy!

  • mares eat oats & does eat oats & little lambs eat ivy ,

a kid will eat ivy too would'nt EWE .

  • i fail to see how this gigantic backpack necklace is any more convenient than opening a cell phone. You'd still have to wait for the satellite internet to load. I, for one, dont need help choosing asswipe or picking out a book. just sayin, cool does not = useful.

  • It tells you what to buy? *sigh*

It seems like almost everything new we come up with to access information is an attempt to make us think less. Maybe our "sixth sense" will remove the need for our brain. That will help some people I know, they avoid using it already.

  • it does more than just that. i thought finding out a flight was delayed just by holding the boarding pass was cool.

  • Another new way to look awkward in public! The continuing struggle AGAINST getting laid moves forward!

  • too good.they are taking the world one step ahead....

  • Very forward thinking, and interesting hardware.

The societal control implications of such a device are enormous. I can not wait till these devices are owned by everyone and no one has a unique thought anymore :)

As long as it stays open enough to allow sheeple to choose where they get their information from, I suppose it is all good though :)

  • how the hell does this work? i don't understand at all

  • brain implant? no thanks!

  • Everyone has a sixth sense. It isn't so special.

  • Reminds me of the movie Minority Report

  • you don't have to buy one harvardkarbodie, if you don't wanna!

  • This is such bullshit. IF all we want in life is to become a walking computer, sure, it's amazing. But why dare call this "sixth sense"? It's an insult to any one with a real (or should I say surreal?) sixth sense.

  • Same answer Alexander Bell got when he introduced the telephone.

  • Uh, I don't think so buddie. This is a magnitude different order of invention. It is one more step in turning us into cyborgs. At least with a telephone you can walk away from it. This asks us to become telephones.

  • Every new invention in the history of mankind has been met with skepticism.

The Doomsday Advocates rant and rave as the rest of the world moves on and they are left behind wondering what happened. People worried that computers would rule the world until someone suggested they just

    reach down and unplug them.

No one is forcing anyone to become a cyborg. If you don't want one don't buy one.

Sonny & Cher said it best: "And the beat goes on."

  • In order to multiply, do calculus, algebra,

find a square root on a calculator you must first know how to muliply, do calculus, algebra and find a square root..

Calculators are tools and nothing more.

I assume you are a young college student. I heard all this ranting and raving during the sixties by college students who were nothing more then rebels without a clue. You WILL change your opinion as the years go on. It's called wisdom. Have fun in the future. I'm 68, how old are you?

  • No! I own EXXON/MOBILE. Of course there have been 1000's of inventions that were bogus and in many cases outright fraud. A technician for Zerox invented a product called windows. The suites at the top thought it had no good purpose and sold it to a visionary named Bill Gates. The world changed and the suites were dumped by the stock holders. At 55 were you one of the protesters marching for change? I've studied history, mainly religion and American.

  • rambling idiot.

  • Alexander Bell was a rambling idiot when his invention was considered nothing but a toy.

And the suites at Zerox gave windows away because it would never amount to anything.

  • Xerox

  • Hey! the Z is right next to the X.

  • It's different, Bell came up with new technology for his time as he came up with everything from scratch. This technology is the same some satellites use for years (including the sensors). It's like a two-way Wii with feedback through reflection. The programming effort has merit, but there is no research involved here, mostly mercantilism.

  • THIS IS REALLY AWESOME

  • This is so awesome, where do sign up? This guy is brilliant!

  • Why don't they come up with a computer that lives for You? BTW the lady says a lot of "etc."

  • Brilliant stuff! Way to go Pranav!

  • u r proud of gujrat but below ur name u write usa

    dumbfuck

  • Certainly Genious.... Keep up ur gud work.
