@hardraynesgonnafall First, probably because the sounds of the gun drowned it out. Notice how it sounds like a tiny pop gun, when it definitely is nothing of the sort. Second, it's entirely possible that the clip he is using is a replica, made from something different. The Garand only cares that it's the same shape. I use only original clips, and I get that awesome *PING* every time. Totally worth the $8-ish for ammo every time.
@mini4m3 Thats not what he meant. Shooting modern ammo with heavy bullets (more than 150gr) is hard on the op rod. Shooting Mk.2 Ball military surplus, or reloaded ammo made to Mk.2 Ball specs is the best way to get the most out of your M1. That or get an adjustable gas plug. If you want to bend your op rod up, then shooting full power modern factory ammo with a heavy bullet seated will do the trick. I have a Springfield Armory M1 Garand made in 1941. Very important to preserve history.
@NormanMatchem Its hard to infer that from the user's comment. However, you are somewhat correct in your thought. Its not the heavy weight of the modern ammo but its actually the burn rate of the powders that damages the op-rod.
If I remember correctly, there was a later iteration of the M1 Garand which eliminated the loud "Ping" as it's obviously disadvantageous in combat to let your enemies know your weapon is empty. Usually though, it wouldn't matter, because you'd have the rest of your section still firing anyway.
Not blanks. Some people can handle recoil better than others, it all depends on the grain of the bullet, weight of the shooter, shooter's skills, and other factors.
@angrygrenade80 Bought mine from the CMP for $617, it's in great shape and shoots great. Outside of the CMP you're looking at at least about $900 for a cruddy one.
I honestly don't think they would bump fire an M1, they only had a limited amount of ammo and M1 Garands were long range infantry rifles. If they wanted to mow down some germans, they would get out either the BAR, the M1A1, or their Browning 30 cal. It's just not practical for an infantry rifle to be doing the suppression. Somebody might have done it though, who knows!
I bet the NAZI's were scared shit less if they saw that but We had the BAR(browning automatic rifle) but it was kinda heavy but then the garand and the BAR had a son named the m14
if the nazi unit armed with the stg-44 or gewehr i think the americans where fairly scared. the stg-44 had a higher rate of fire, and a 10 more rounds than the BAR, and the gewehr had a 10 round magazine semi auto and shot a rifle round same with the stg-44
@baconator490 i think the nazi's would be terrified of the m1. The gewehr isnt a very reliable weapon. The stg44 was a good weapon, but not that many were used by the nazi's because they came to late in the war. They would mainly be armed with k98's and mp40's, which the m1 dominated. the mg42 was the germans weapon of terror
holy fucking shit give this guy an semi ak47 and about 500 rounds and a few nades shit he is a one man army with that fucking finger ! lmao WHO THE FUCK NEEDS AUTOMATIC!? BAHAHAHA
no its so easy to shoot fast. i was on the range the other day and me and friend were shotting some .45 colts and we had a race. we speed shooted like it was an smg
No, its not fast foward or fast foRward. And you can forget about buying my Garand. It's my very first gun. Not intrested or intErested in selling. It's a proud piece of Dutch history. The gun saw action in the Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten, or resistance/underground.
Great. Now I have to try that. So much for all that surplus ammo I just bought.

@LennMacca93 that ping is the spent strip clip casing hitting the ground when it ejects
hardraynesgonnafall 2 months ago
@hardraynesgonnafall Huh. My Garand has no issue making that awesome PING noise... as the clip ejects. Every time. It has nothing to do with gravity.

@crispexv2 how come his never made the ping than?

it might just be me but i think that that particular m1 garand might have been converted from the m14 into the m1 but thats just my thought
britin123 2 years ago
Not possible. The receiver for the M14 is long enough for the 7.62x51 NATO. .30-06 is 7.62x63 so it would be too long to fit in the receiver.

The Gewehr43 actually shot the full sized 8mm Mauser round - alot more powerful than the 7.92Kurz that the StG44 used.
