I think this was the night Will broke the bass and had to borrow Genesis P-Orridge's,, right? They were opening for Throbbing Gristle. Anyway, this is possibly one of the starkest, sickening songs they've ever written and easily one of my favorites. A shame it never actually made it onto an actual LP, think it would have been perfect for Gone Fishin'
I like flipper because in a sense they are esstianlly a pop band, they have some very catchy repetitive basslines. But there version of pop music is a twisted, brooding, mangled jet engine like sound that knocks you on your ass. They were on there own island, and still to this day no one sounds like them, they blew the lid off of the notion of what could be considered music. What a beautiful mess they left us
I agree wholeheartedly! This is one of my favorite Flipper songs. What a "beautiful mess" Will Shatter was -- he stole my heart over and over again. Ted's guitar overpowers most so-called punk guitarists of today. He was an innovator for sure.
slow-noise joyeusement bordelique !! tres drole , l'episode avec genesis p.orridge qui, en petit garçon soigneux de ses affaires, veut pas preter sa basse sans garanties de retour!!
COMPLETELY STUNNING FOOTAGE!! they were supporting Throbbing Gristle at their last concert... one can view Genesis P. Orridge helping Bruce swap his faulty bass over. Then a few "tuning problems" ensue.
This is inside at the Pavilion not out at the Stadium btw but you could probably figure that out.

This was Throbbing Gristle's last show I think with Flipper opening for them. Fuck, what a line up

One thing I like about Flipper is that you could get a beer any time without being afraid of missing anything in the meantime :-) But I love it!

Will Shatter was the real deal. Glad I saw him before he passed on. I liked him when he was in Negative Trend, too.

This "concert" is why I hated Flipper the first time I saw them, and then loved them forever afterwards!

I wouldn't say nobody sounds like them. You can definitely hear their influence in Nirvana.

Beatifully put. Glad there are a good few people who still appreciate them.

Amidst the slab of dirge one can get the brilliance of the song.
( lol ) Ted looked like their dad. The guitar-smashing thing was quite a surprise!
Boy, those guys were really fucked-up. Must have been great being on stage in such a state. Too bad payback came in just a few years.

Ted was a few years older, but not many punk bands could claim their guitarist went to 'Nam!
