  • I would've thrown a rock through the driver's window!!

  • who gives a shit, fuck doesnt matter

  • I'll admit, I talked on the phone while driving but since the law banning cell phone use while driving, and quite frankly enough documentaries on the subject, purse and phone are now in the back seat out of reach. Anyone who calls or texts while I'm driving can wait until I'm safely at my destination.

  • Lol bite me!!

  • The timing of this is interesting considering it was done in August ! Yes if you see a driver doing something like this or worse by all means vid it . Then send it where it needs to go , OC management , Councilers , the Mayor or even the police . But to post it on Utube ? It may be legal now if tasteless .Laws do change and I wouldnt want to be caught in the Human Right Storm than can and will most likey someday asrise from such things as posting on UTube . How do you think law are made ?

  • @123mosaid Your threatening tone is duly noted. Also your lack of understanding of the law. We do not live in a fascist society and therefor there wil,l quite simply, be no human rights storm.

Once you leave your place of dwelling there can be no reasonable expectation of privacy. This is the position of the law, it is used to justify everything from traffic cameras to surveylence cameras.

Don't like being on camera? Try not making an ass of yourself.

  • @electricottawa how is this video vindictive or malicious? The comment could be taken as aggressive, but the video is not. Also, after what the drivers union put Ottawa through a few years back at Christmas, why would you be surprised if anybody has a personal vendetta against it?

  • @mbazdell Ya I agree that it was hell a few years ago but I blame both sides if not the city more for what happened then . When does the city deal fairly with anyone ? I certainly do not carry vendetta and FEEL great sorrow for those that do .

  • @ArmaniGeorgeY there's no reasonable expectation of privacy from being seen in public. Therefore there is no invasion of privacy here. You can take a picture of or record anybody you want in a public place.

  • Don't you people have better things to do then try and fuck someone's life up.... How would you feel if someone was pointing a camara at you while you didn't know! What if the buds driver asks Google who the account holder is with this video posted because he wants to sue you for video tapping him without his written consent. This is invasion of privacy!

  • OH THE HUMANITY!!!

  • You know people, we always judge the bus drivers of talking while driving i've seen worst a lot of drivers not necessary a bus driver are doing it even a regular driver like regular people like us are doing it they're even texting come on leave the bus drivers alone !!!!! you know we have no right to video taping them period .....

  • @cocochanelx0love well remember that they’re public employees doing a public job, hired by the public for the public. Bus drivers holds MANY innocent lives rather than a driver in a car.

  • IT IS NOT HIS FALT IT MAY HVE BEEN AN EMERGENCY!!!!

  • Big brother: self actualizing prophecy.... we are all creating it!! Who among you who commented below against this driver never used a cell phone while driving or broke ANY law? Leave the guy alone!

  • @MerlsHull True... Nobody's the wiser...And it's not like he was text messaging, like we've all seen many car drivers do, which really is more dangerous than some would tend to believe...

I would be more sure that, had this driver been driving in one of the designated Transitway Lanes, it wouldn't have been an issue, or at least as much an issue that the whistle be blown... I had heard something that they are allowed to use cells while driving those lanes, but for work purposes...

  • @Stroklos no, they are not supposed to be using the phone period when they are driving... they have to follow the law just like anyone else... the only time they are allowed to use thier phones is on breaks..

  • @lazymutant only on breaks?? what if they need to call their supervisor?? they are allowed to use the phone whenever they want. Not saying while driving, but they can be on their phone in the bus. Sometimes you need to call a boss.

  • @AvaLeafs10 every bus is equipped with a communication system that they can use to get in contact with their boss... so for one thing there is no need to be using their cell phone when they are driving, but shoulkd they need to use the phone it is as simple as finding a place they can stop for a second or so...

  • the horror...the horror...

  • ...and one time at band camp ....

  • During the duration of this film: How many seats are their on a bus? How many seats in the vehicles surrounding this bus? How many pedestrians on the sidewalks? Total that number, and you get how many lives were endangered.

  • @patilj First of all, it may have been at the beginning or the end of his shift, we do not know. We also did not see the back of the bus. Either way, it doesn't make it right. Secondly, he is on a major highway in the middle of the day so there would be plenty of cars, including the one filming the idiot. And because this is a highway, there are no pedestrians. Yet again, it still would not make it right, and there are still plenty of lives to endanger, including his own.

  • Good work folks.. keep filming them. It also sounds like some laws might be updated to make this much easier for you too. This might not have been proposed if the last person filming had not submitted his video. This might not be evidence (yet), but it certainly gets things done in the COURT of PUBLIC OPINION.

  • I wonder what ridiculous statement the union is going to come out with to justify dangerous driving behaviour behind the wheel of a large vehicle like a city bus. Or is it just going to be some kind of misguided rant against the public who are evil enough to be concerned with public safety at the expense of their poor, oppressed union members?

  • Seriously???? Find something else to do and leave working people alone. Yes he's breraking the law but sit on an overpass at rush hour and count all the people texting and talking on their cell phones. You should film all their plate #'s and send them to the OPP to. Also, when you pan back you'll see that there are NO passangers on the bus and to the winner who noticed the bus #4210, we all did.

  • @baileyfwa The part of that tirade you should be concentrating on is when you admitted, "Yes he's breraking [sic] the law"

  • I can't stand drivers on the phone, believe me. But really -- you consciously started to record a bus driver on his phone, and consciously posted it on youtube? It's kinda like being a tattle taler, isn't?

  • @clickstobricksify What kind of gets to me is the fact that it was admitedly recorded in August, and it was said that since issues had been brought up NOW, otherwise just a few days ago, that it was okay to post now, than when it should have been brought out months ago... Even at that, why did THIS have to be public and NOW, when this should've been brought to the complaints department instead. If it wasn't that important back in august, It's pretty hypocrite to say it is now.

  • Lord, really?

Tell me, do you sing while driving occasionally? Do you also talk to passengers? I would guess so. Bus drivers are often drinking coffee too, yet you'd never say the same thing about someone who was driving and talking to someone while having a coffee.

Yes it can lead to accidents but so can ANYTHING else, sometimes shit just happens, however, I am MUCH happier about a bus driver being on the phone than a civvy, this guy drives EVERY day.

    Just another social demon.

  • @bizarrefruit Hey! Not sure if you are from Ontario or not, but the point of the video is that driving and talking on a cellphone is against the law, unless you have a hands-free device on.

  • I hope the city steps in and fires them all and rehire them on a lower salary and without the Union!!! The 2008 Strike was Planned for month ahead of time and i still remember one bus driver saying that he was going to enjoy his Extra long holiday!!!!! This was said in October 2008! Two month before the strike??? I dunno i just think the Union is a bunch of Idiots who will do whatever they can to protect the drivers and leave the Public (US) In danger of ingnorant drivers like this!

  • @sunadan86 Grow up or move to China where your views will be recieved with open arms. I have worked on a farm for 3 years at McDonalds for 6 years then spent the last 25 years working in High Tech . There are bad apples no matter where you go . To take an approach that all are bad is bordering on bigetry. This operator should be disiplined the same as The head of OC transpo or the last Mayor was after they were caught doing the same thing. That should be the end of it.

  • Nice to know he was breaking the law talking on his cell... However, driving while making sure to aim a video cam to capture this, sure isn't any safer.

  • @Stroklos

I think this video may have been taken on the passenger-side of the vehicle.

  • @gingerdances it was

  • @Stroklos Its clearly the passenger. Unless his arms are enourmous.

  • @helpmeplease402 Or he had zoomed the focus... But yes, seeing what looks like a company logo reflection from the rear-view mirror, rightfully assumes a passenger.

  • Thank you for posting this.

Nothing is more important than the safety of passengers who take OC Transpo!

  • For those who missed it this was bus #4210
